Haibun: The Orchard of Ash

Autumn isn’t gentle—it’s sacred collapse. The Orchard of Ash is my response to the dVerse Poets Pub’s Haibun Monday prompt, “The Fall of the Leaf.” Living in the Shawnee Forest, I witness the season’s descent firsthand: bruised apples, split bark, and the quiet violence of nature reclaiming itself. This haibun is a ritual offering to that chaos—a meditation on death, memory, and the beauty of letting go.
