Day In The Life™ 2025 | Ali's Project

Last Friday was our annual Day In The Life™ community documenting day. This is always such a fun project that roots us in the basic routine of our daily life in this season.
This year I decided to approach documenting my day by simply focusing on the concept of "noticing." I used the cards from the kit as the jumping off point and ended up taking photos of eight pieces of my day and adding journaling of what I noticed on the other side of a hanging circle tag (cut from the pattern paper in the kit). I wanted to create something playful and interactive and I love how this came together.
Here's a look at how I told the story of my day:
Here are images of my completed project:

The first thing I did for this project was decide that I wanted to add this to my 10x8 album(s) for 2025. Once I decided that grabbed two of the 10x8 3x4 pocket page protectors - one to be cut up and stitched along the edge of the transparency and the other to hold six of my noticing cards. I cut up one of the page protectors in order to have two 3x4 pockets along the outside edge of the transparency.

In the top pocket I created a cluster of four chipboard circles stitched on top of a plain piece of transparency. In the bottom pocket I added the first of my eight "noticing" stories. I printed my photos 2.5 inch x 2 inch and stitched them onto the journal cards before slipping it into the pocket.
I used a 2 inch circle punch to get all the circles from the pattern paper in order to use them on the outside of the pockets.

I used the "in this season" stamp from the 3x4 stamp set to stamp eight circles on vellum. I used a 1.5 inch circle punch to punch them out. Each out of the vellum circles was paired with a 2 inch circle from the pattern paper. I used a jump ring to connect the circles together and then used some twine to attach it to the outside of the page protector. I used a word/phrase sticker on top of the twine and then also used my Tiny Attacher to staple it in place.

On the back of the 2 inch circles I stamped "today I noticed" and then hand-wrote a bit of journaling to write what I noticed when I took the photo.
Here's what it looks like when the spread is open:

I considered a couple things for the back of the chipboard in the top pocket. I could have added more chipboard. I could have painted them. I could have added pattern paper. I definitely considered number stamping the date. In the end I decided to keep it simple and just go with the plain background and simple white number stickers on top to document the date.
These white number stickers are from this set (new with our December Daily® collection this year).

It was fun to mix things up and have some elements on the outside of the pockets. I really liked using the word/phrase stickers as a "attaching" element and I also reinforced that with a stapler.

I used one of the Kelly Creates pens for my journaling on the back.

I paired each of the 2 inch circles I punched from the kit pattern paper with it's matching color on the journal cards.

Short stories for the win! Here's a look at all my documenting on the back of the circles:
