Book Review #153

A Perfect Spy
by John le Carre

It's very well written and very British and very long, nearly seven hundred pages, and intricately conceived, with the story told from multiple points of view. It is a tale of spies and love and friendship and betrayal. It is also John le Carre's most autobiographical novel, as it describes a father's stranglehold on his son and the terrible consequences that follow. The final pages had me in tears.
