DECEMBER UPDATE

I am unsure where the past few months have gone. The older I get, the faster time seems to pass. Anyway, as it’s silly season, it's probably time for a quick update.

WHAT AM I WORKING ON?

I'm just putting the finishing touches on a festive-themed horror tale I hope will be part of an anthology. If not, it will be published as a standalone novelette next year. ARCs will, of course, be available as soon as the story is ready. This project is currently titled ISOLATION.

ISOLATION

When Edwyn visits the remote cottage where he and his late wife spent Christmas the previous year, he uncovers dark truths about the mysterious forest that dominates the snow-covered horizon. A malevolent thought invades his mind, suggesting that somehow his wife’s peculiar illness was linked to that place.

FEAR OF THE DEVIL

Fear of the Devil is an idea I sketched out many moons ago but never managed to write. Recently, I revisited it, and something finally clicked. This will be my first novel, and I plan to finish it in 2026. There is much work to do, but once Isolation is finished, Fear of the Devil will be my primary focus for 2026. Wish me luck!

Fear of the Devil is a folk horror tale, set on a remote Island in Scotland, and that’s about all I can say for now. More to follow, very soon!

SOCIAL MEDIA BREAKS

I took a short break from social media for a few weeks recently to finish the first draft of Isolation, and it definitely paid off. As a result, this will become a regular part of my writing routine, with a more extended break expected in Feb - Mar as I work on Fear of the Devil.

FESTIVE SEASON

I would like to wish you all the very best for the festive season, and of course, the New Year when it comes.

Until next time…

See You Later…

Daniel Lorn Thank you, Louise! I will need it for the novel!

Fiza Pathan Fantastic project ideas Daniel. Looking forward to the ARCs of them both when you are ready. Remember me when they are done. I especially am thrilled that you are finishing a full length novel at last, I have been waiting for this for the longest time ever. You are an amazing horror writer, you will rock it with these two creations I am totally sure!

Yes, & I agree, it is silly season time! I abhor it actually, I prefer Easter even though Catholic Nuns like me during Easter have to fast the whole day till late evening, not drink water & on Good Friday eat our food from a plate on the dining table - while we are kneeling down on the bare floor! The hard-core cloistered Franciscans I hear kneel on rough stones, but we just kneel on the bare floor that is all. I am Benedictine, the strictest order in the Catholic Church & the weirdest. Franciscans according to me just take things too far - non-sensical things that don't really matter.

I hope one day you can write a horror story on nuns or life in a convent. I don't mind giving the inputs, we can be very creepy people. If not the creepiest. Late Pope Francis hated visiting convents world over for the same reason, he found them to be very 'depressing & eerie places' (I quote). My dream project for you!

Best of luck with both books this December! Happy Silly Festive Season Daniel! Tis' the Season to be barmy! :) :D

Fiza Pathan I also have the time & leisure now to read more of your earlier stuff, so watch out for my reviews of your works soon. I need some amazing horror in my life.

Why am I free? Too many aerosols in the air of Mumbai, India - so folks like us who have weak lungs & can die because of the same have been asked to stick it out at home. We are supposed to stay in doors for the whole of December. I have been incarcerated since November 11th & been taking my college classes online. I was wheezing terribly with serious bouts of coughing & heavy breathing & stuff - so did all of us Mumbaikars who have weak respiratory tracts - that would be sadly 65% of the population!!!

Too much of air pollution in Mumbai, India currently - we must be making international news right now. Masks won't be enough, not even the N95 ones - so the Hospitals have arranged for special carrier oxygen cylinders with masks. Mine arrives this week because I was early with my wheezing LOL!

I will look like an ancient deep sea diver when I emerge outside next. The dystopian future of our nightmares - is here!

Maybe another horror story idea for you!? Happy Writing & Reading to you Daniel always! :) :D

Thanks, Fiza, for your kind words, and I, of course, will be delighted to send you the ARCs.
Nuns and life in a convent are perfect themes for horror! Perhaps one day.
Wow, I wasn’t aware that there was so much pollution in the air over there! That is terrible to hear! Be safe out there!
Thanks again, and wishing you all the best for December.
Daniel.
