I just read the last Witch's Bell and all I can say is 'FINALLY' that is all everyone needs to know...it was the best use of my grocery money ever!

I'm currently reading the Modern Gods books of yours. I wanted to say that you're an amazing story teller, though the grammar, spelling and punctuation are terrible, even taking into account the difference between American and Australian English.

I have dyslexia and spent the majority of my childhood working to overcome it. I was finally able to get to the point where I can enjoy reading, but get caught up in the errors that are found in any book. It can take me several minutes to work out what the author meant when there is a typographical, grammar, or punctuation error. This tends to frustrate me, though as most editors are very thorough, I tend to find an average of 3 to 5 errors in a typical novel.

Unfortunately, the errors are so resplendent in your ebooks that I'm having a difficult time getting through them. I love the story and have continued to struggle my way through so I can read the whole Modern Gods series, but doubt I will attempt to read your other books. It would require much more effort than I'm prepared to deal with at this time.

I'm sorry if this sounds like a negative comment, it's not meant to be. I'd love to continue reading your work, but when I finally figure out what you meant to write (when I come across an error), my first response is to correct the error. That way I can read on and enjoy the story, knowing I won't have the same problem if I chose to read it again.

If the errors are a result of translating from Australian to American English, well, even with dyslexia, it's not much of a difference. A few words spelled differently, different grammar... Still completely recognizable to the dyslexic in me.

Do tell - what is American English??? As we read American books all the time, I can't say I have a problem with them - so what needs to be different?

Just as another comment for Arie - my brother has really bad dyslexia - at school the teachers just thought he was stupid. He's 3 years old than I, and I could read before he could.

He is now a senior lecturer at University with a Masters degree and now doing his PhD. His name is Brad Miller at the University of New South Wales in Sydney. Go have a look if you're interested.

I love your Witch's Bell Series. Important life lessons everyone can benefit from. I am concerned though. The proofreading & editing is almost non-existant. It's a distraction from the storyline trying to figure out what a sentence was supposed to say or figuring out if a word was misspelled or abbreviated, or the wrong word inserted. I also did note some proofreading marks left in the book, so know you are using someone to proof your work. Perhaps you may want to consider finding a different editor/proofreader.

I enjoy your books so much, but the normal errors left in the final copy is such a distraction, I'm afraid it will discredit your work. A good editor is worth their weight in gold. Keep writing, excellent life messages. Too important to miss.

Eg. of American English (color, specialize etc) - Aus & Brit English (colour, specialise etc). It's a matter of changing the language formatting and to some extent, lingo and speech pattern the characters use (if necessary). This really depends on how far the author would like to take it. Btw, I've heard of Brad through word of mouth from colleagues in other faculties though I do not write into his area of expertise. I'm a medical researcher. Good to know he's your brother. :)
