In 2009 I wrote a serial for The Lady magazine called Come to Dinner. Best described as a funny, wry and sharply observed take on London’s dining classes, Come to Dinner follows a group of friends and family through their kitchen suppers, grand dinners and takeaway pizzas, over the course of the year. I had lots of lovely comments about it and people seemed to get genuinely involved in the miniature middle class soap opera that was unfolding around the limed oak kitchen tables of these characters. The serial ended at the end of 2009/beginning of 2010, but as self-publishing is now a far more straightforward endeavour to embark upon, I have done just that and collected all the columns in an e-book edition. In the New Year I’l write a blog post about how I went about doing this, but for now, the book is available to buy on amazon.
