I'm planning promotional items for 2014 and I'm wondering what are the kinds of things that readers love, pass over and throw away?

I'm the type of person that loves to find the perfect gift for people. There's nothing like finding an item and knowing instantly that it's a perfect fit for someone special in your life. I'd rather surprise someone on a random day with a present that speaks to them as a person than just purchase a gift because it's time to. But if you manage to find that perfect gift on their special day, then that's even better :-)

Clearly authors can't find a perfect gift to suit each and every reader, but I'd like to try and reach as many as possible.
