Book Tours

I still remember my first book tour. I drove down to this Mom and Pop bookstore in Philadelphia during rush hour and then hit up a public library in Hoboken on the way back. Three people fell asleep while I was reading, some teenagers heckled me and an elderly woman pinched my butt. Plus, it took me three months to get the $37.56 my publisher owed me for gas and a cheeseburger. I loved every second of it. Your first book tour is a seal of approval. Suddenly you go from wanting to be a writer, to being a writer and the shift is profound and exciting.

Eric Should be "the public library in Hoboken." There has been only one since the 1800's.

Deb I remember my first reading. It was a bookstore in downtown Manhattan; we got about 30 of my friends in; and the other reader was Lawrence Block. And, yeah, that's exactly what it feels like.
