A quick question. In the Soviet Union, does Valnor represent an actual historical figure? I missed it if he does. Thanks

Yes Valnor is General Georgy Zhukov and he was a real person involved in all of the events cited in the book; a remarkable military commander.
I did take a liberty in the end, General Zhukov died of old age rather than at the hands of Stalin, but countless others in the Soviet officers' corp did. So to show that side of Stalin I needed to either make a departure from actual history, or introduce a new character in a book already loaded with them. I opted for the first to keep things simple.
Thanks for the question.
Mark
