Paper Books

Kindles are great - I've got one, and I love it. But there is something really magical about the good old fashioned paper book, particularly a really well made, quality one. I remember the old Teddy Edward hardback books. There was something really delicious about them. The quality of the paper and the lovely font that just drew your eyes in ready to start eating up the words in a way that made you want to savour every little bit of the story. My infant school teacher would read us a Teddy Edward story every afternoon, with her precise, clipped, yet warm voice, whilst she twisted her fingers in and out of the gold belcher chain she always wore around her neck, from which hung a gold sovereign. I've always loved reading, but I'm sure these Teddy Edward books and Mrs. Fryer's afternoon story time were the foundations from where my love for books came from. Happy days!
