ISBN's

I have a friend having trouble getting goodreads to accept her ISBN's. She does not have her books on amazon but instead with B&N etc.
Anyone out there ever encounter similar.
Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated. She has tried contacting GoodReads but gets no answer.

Connie I don't know if it will help, but it might be a start for exploring why some ISBN's don't work.
