The Glory of My Books
I haven't heard a negative review of either of my books, The Corrupting of the Redeemer and The Making of a Gangster, and I doubt that I ever will. Some people will say that true critics haven't yet read my books, and thus I haven't yet heard any negative opinions of them. But based on the feedback I've received, I think those critics, and nearly everyone else, would find lasting literary merit with my books.
When I wrote The Corrupting of the Redeemer and The Making of a Gangster, I wanted them to be the types of books that are on par with Native Son and Black Boy, and studied on college campuses. I believe my books have achieved that level of quality.
I just finished speaking to someone who thoroughly enjoyed my books. They said the books were good, and spoke of the subtleties that were included in them. When I wrote the books, there were many underlying issues contained within them that only deep-thinkers would grasp and understand. I was extremely pleased to hear that someone else had understood them.
