As an example of the future influencing the present self, think of a young person who plans to become a great basketball player. The idealized self is always his future target that he shoots for from the present.
As he moves forward toward this idealized self he trains, and as he does he plays basketball, always maintaining his foresight on the future target. Down the road that target, though appearing stationary, has changed many times, influencing the present self which in response has changed too.
Finally, when the present self reaches its idealized target, the finalized version may have changed so much that it has become totally different. Indeed, in time the basketball hopeful may end up a bag boy, or he may end up a great baller,
The feedback between these two points represent the evolutionary feedback loop in space-time between the Whole and Part, and the finalized version the net content of these interactions upon what the organism becomes.
Outcome: This example is meant to demonstrate that the self at any point is constantly influencing and changing what it becomes - hence, time is alterable at any point.
