New year, new goals, new books

Happy New Year!! Wishing you a year filled with love, laughter, good health and success.

As I mentioned the other day, every Monday I’m going to post a roundup of the previous week at my house. I hope you’ll stop in and tell me about yours.

On the writing front:

Rose 2-11-15 200x300I was thrilled last week when Rose: Bride of Colorado reached #2 in both the Western Romance and Victorian Romance categories on Amazon. This book is #38 in the 50-book American Mail Order Brides Series (each book set in a different state), which began on Nov. 19 and will end in a few days when all fifty states have been released. If you haven’t gotten your copy yet, you can find it here.

I’m working on a new historical western romance series set in Rocky Ridge, Colorado. I’m spinning off from the Morgans of Rocky Ridge series, and focusing on the other residents of the town. Tentative series title: Rocky Ridge Romance. Hopefully I’ll be able to give you a sneak peek at the cover and description of the first book next week.

On the reading front:

Now that I’m writing all day every day, I don’t read nearly as much as I like to, or that I should. So I joined a reading challenge group based on the letters of the alphabet, which means I have to read two books every month. I’m trying to mix it up with some non-fiction as well as fiction.

My “A” book – Atonement by B.J. Daniels (contemporary romance). I’d love some company, so if you’d like to join me, leave a comment.

On the home front:

Work continues on the renovation that never ends. It’s a slow process.

One of my goals this year is to cut down on carbs (and cook more), so I tried out a new low-carb breakfast casserole this week. The recipe is here, but I did make a few modications. Since there are only two of us, I halved the recipe and used an 8×8” pan. I didn’t have any kale so I used spinach instead, and I used button mushrooms instead of crimini. Still, I’d give it a 4/5 rating. Only one problem – I was so hungry I forgot to take a photo. I’ll try to do better next time.

That’s my week. How was yours?
