Joan's mother started The Collective after losing her son, then turned The Collective against Camille after Joan died. Though Camille didn't murder Joan, her mother was at that point so consumed with grief and drunk with power, that she used The Collective to exact revenge on the person she decided was responsible for her one remaining child's death.(less)
