For some sins, even repentance and heartfelt prayer won't guarantee forgiveness. And for some coldhearted sinners, there is no desire to be forgiven for their misdeeds at all. Jada Dupri had survived many trifling times in her life, which would have easily consumed weaker individuals with a lot less resolve. However, for some reason she was still living—at least for the moment. From murder to mayhem, her young eyes had been exposed to many things. But, little does she know, death is looming ever so closely, with no plans of sparing her life ever again.

Nathan "Nan" Jones has finally been reunited with his family, but sanctity and salvation will be short lived. His weakness has always been his willingness to jeopardize himself for the sake of others. So, when a friend calls upon him in a desperate plea for help, he will be forced to return to the battlegrounds of Brooklyn to face his nemesis one final time.

For every ending there must be a beginning. And for every beginning there will most assuredly be an end…Old enemies will reemerge, friends will be betrayed and many more lives will be lost.

I'm a father a husband and an African American male who also happens to be a teacher, journalist, a motivational speaker and an award winning author for Mind Candy, LLC, which is a company focused on book publishing, the development of screenplays and educational programming for our youth. Some say I have the ability to capture the pulse of the streets with intelligent and well thought out story lines. However, I believe that I just write compelling books that transcend genres and labels, ultimately providing my readers with memorable experiences. I love to read, and I hate wasting my time on a bad book. So, it's that much more important to me to give my readers their money's worth (and more) when they purchase one of my books. In the past, I have contributed articles and written for various websites and publications including The Voice, Newsday and 88HIPHOP.COM I was the Editor in Chief of content. I hold a Bachelors degree in Business Management and a Masters of Science degree in Technology Management obtained from Polytechnic University. My first novel, Nan: The Trifling Times of Nathan Jones has received various awards and critical acclaim from readers and book clubs around the world. After the successful release of my first novel, I cemented a deal with F.E.D.S. magazine resulting in a joint venture to publish my second release, Once Upon A Time in Harlem in September of 2007. The highly anticipated second installment in the Nan series, The Game of Trife, was released through Mind Candy, LLC in August of 2008, and the finale in the series, Nan: The Trifecta was released two years later. I consider myself a socially conscious individual who strives to play a key role in helping to improve the literacy rates among African American and Hispanic youth. Through my American Me “Voices of Our Youth” program, I have worked with several other organizations in an effort to decrease the high school dropout rates plaguing lower income communities. Besides my fictional work, I have written inspirational books such as The Barack in Me and Things I Wish I Knew When I Was Young Like You. Both books were written specifically for young people, with themes that cross the boundaries of gender and race. I currently teach 6th graders in a high risk area, doing all that I can on a daily basis to inspire our youth to become the leaders of the future. I believe in taking the time needed each day to make a difference!

The End.

Author Moses Miller brings the final installment of the Nan series with The Trifecta. Nan is in hiding, reunited with his family living in a mobile home in a remote, rural location. Things are quiet and seem to be going rather normal. That is until he finds out that someone dear to his heart has passed away and he decides that in order to have a normal life and a future he is going to have to go back to New York and face his past.

Lefty is a hit man for hire. After witnessing the horrific deaths of his wife and child he turns into a cold-hearted killer. One thing he prides himself on is that he is a killer with morals...so to speak..."no women and no children." So after trying to come to the rescue of an attempted murder on a woman and her young son, it sets off a war. Since he interferred with the possible execution of those individuals, someone wants to see Lefty dead.

The Trifecta by Moses Miller was an excellent ending to the Nan series. Any possible questions that were left hanging and unanswered in the previous novels were brought to a close. Mr. Miller introduces readers to new characters that they will love/hate. Readers may even find themselves rooting for the bad guy....maybe (wink). This story is chock full of action; with every chapter you will be on the edge of your seat waiting to see how this story will unfold and how it will finally end. Who will come out on top????? The Trifecta was a great book that I ended 2010 with! I would definitely recommend!

Three-Peat (5 Stars)

Author Moses Miller is back with his highly anticipated finale in the Nathan Jones series titled The Trifecta. The final installment thrusts Nan back into the devil’s lair when he returns to New York City to help a close friend bury a loved one. Prior to his trip back to N.Y.C Nan had settled into a peaceful existence raising his son, Nathan, with his girlfriend Latoya in South Carolina. But that tranquility and life under the radar would come to a screeching halt once Nan arrived back in N.Y.C.

The still open police investigation that fueled Nan’s departure from N.Y.C has grown cold but a former nemesis and his deadly assassin pose a more significant threat to Nan’s safety. But Nan isn’t the only character in The Trifecta whose life is in danger. Jada might have been able to free herself from Gunner’s abusive grasp in book two but now his brother Spider has her in his sights as he looks to avenge Gunner’s death. While former Detective Carver managed to keep his job amidst the corruption scandal with just a demotion back to Officer his lucky streak might be running out with Nan’s reemergence and reporter Donella Mills still investigating the story.

The intense plot of book three combined with Author Moses Miller’s superb character development will have readers flipping through the pages to get to the exhilarating conclusion. A conclusion although befitting such a great series will still sadden readers who will not want to see the series come to an end. However the grandiose fashion in which Mr. Miller ended the series will not only soften the blow of its departure but also guarantee that its characters remain deeply embedded within the hearts of his readers.

Sacrifices,

In NAN: THE TRIFLING TIMES OF NATHAN JONES, readers are introduced to Nathan Jones, a father-to-be tossed into a death match. Between past tense and present day accounts, Nathan is trying to connect the dots in order to stay alive. After a brief intercession, NAN: THE GAME OF TRIFE answers some questions, while posing others and introducing us to all of the adversaries. Still on the run, Nan has the help of Sister Sarah and finds that he isn't so alone in this scary world. As the story comes to an end, you can't help praying that Nan will be able to follow his heart. NAN: THE TRIFECTA, the final nail in the coffin, we learn that Nan is living in South Carolina with Latoya and their son, Little Nan. Although you're happy, uncertainty is still in the air as many wolves are still having nightmares. With so much left unsaid and undone, Nan knows that at any moment his sins can catch up with him.

When Nan returns to Brooklyn, he knows that the deck is stacked against him. With the teams assembled, corruption, betrayal, forgiveness, truth, lies, police and bloodshed, readers are front and center as Moses Miller tidies up loose ends, revisit old characters, adjust loopholes, and concludes Nan's long drawn out drama, allowing NAN: THE TRIFECTA to come full circle.

I purposely held on to NAN: THE TRIFECTA as long as I possibly could. Moses is a gifted storyteller. I am saddened because I've run out of MIND CANDY. Moses, readers are definitely looking forward to what you have in store for them.

Borrowed Time

It’s the calm before the storm, but a storm is certainly brewing. Lives have been lost. Lives have been changed forever. Sins have to be accounted for.

In NAN: THE TRIFECTA, author Moses Miller has the daunting and challenging task of bringing closure to his series about Nathan Jones. Fans of Miller know that he has the talent to meet the challenge, as he proves in this animated tale, tying up all loose ends, answering all questions and giving us the fate of the character that we readers have come to love and root for – Nan. A testament to his talent, Miller pulled me so deep into this tale that I found myself rooting for one of the bad guys. How sick is that?!?

NAN: THE TRIFECTA is a worthwhile addition to my already overcrowded shelves and growing catalogue of work that firmly places Miller among my favorites. I have a sweet tooth for his mind candy!

Trifecta by Moses Miller is the third book in the Nan Jones series. In this novel, we see Nan, Carson, and Sonny trying to start new lives. Nan has settled down south with his childhood sweetheart. Carson has retired from the police force with plans to move to Miami. And, Sonny finds himself hobnobbing with politicians and forging legal business ties that he wants to hand down to his son. Yet, each man finds himself drawn back to the streets to deal with their pasts once and for all.

Miller again entertains us with another gritty, bloody street novel. In this case, some of the main characters have grown up and are seeking to heal themselves. While the novel doesn't fully explore the characters' emotional growth, we do see some transformation as they seek to move on with their lives. It is clear that some of the characters don't change and likely never will but we do get the sense that others are maturing or, at least, are trying to do so.

However, there are consistency issues in this novel. For example, at one point, one character tells another that someone died of a heart attack. Shortly thereafter, another character claims he killed that same person. Also, as we reach the end of the book, it seems Miller is desperately trying to figure out how to wrap things up. One minute Nan is in someone's apartment, then he's shooting at someone across town at in scene we have no idea he should even be aware is happening. It's almost as though the chapters were hastily rearranged without careful attention to the connecting details.

Nevertheless, Trifecta is fun. There are lots of gun-toting, women-assaulting men killing just about anyone who crosses their paths. The chaos of the street life reigns. And, although Miller provides the obligatory "praise Jesus" moments, we don't feel as if we'd been beaten over the head with a bible. Despite the occasionally distracting poor word usage, odd comma placement, and the disorienting jumps from one scene to the next, you will be eager to see how life ends up for Nan Jones and company.

What did you like about the book?
Trifecta is a fast-paced, entertaining read.

What did you dislike about the book?
The story-telling in this novel wasn't quite as strong as in The Game of Trife. It seems the story shifted a great deal as the novel was being developed and the inconsistencies in the time line and/or the plot lines the shifts created were not always resolved.

What could the author do to improve the book?
The author should make sure he double-checks his plot lines to ensure consistency and make sure that dictionary is close at hand.

Closure

Mr. Moses Miller has had my support from day one. From the very first release, “The Trifling Times of Nathan Jones”, he drew me in and five books later, I am still his number one supporter. I say that to say if you DON’T have this author on your radar you are truly missing out on EXCEPTIONAL reads. Mr. Miller is clearly sending a message to his counterparts and he is saying, “Get on my level”.

Bringing to a conclusion of this successful trilogy, we find Nan living the quiet life with his girlfriend Latoya and his son Nathan Jr in country South Carolina. Country living has dulled the beast but not killed it. After an event that has brought Nan back to the streets of NYC, where his story has begun. We have to wonder if his luck has run out. The entire NYPD is looking for him and so is the most crooked cop ever, Detective Mark Carson. With each step Nan takes potentially trouble is sure to cross his path.

Jada is back and death is looming. Pregnant and with the love of her young life, Darius, life is good. With unanswered questions from her past she is still in search of, which she gets in this final installment. Jada is staying alive without even knowing there is a death threat over her head. Will Jada be able to avoid the grim reaper? If you have read the first two installments you won’t want to miss how this one ends.

This story ends with a unique last chapter that will keep you wanting more long after the ending. I am waiting for the next book and I am such a supporter that at this point it would not matter what Mr. Moses puts out I would read it. With his flair for the dramatics and spin on words I am sure it would be a hit. That being said I need his next book like ummm yesterday.

Putting the demons to rest.

Nathan Jones “Nan” is living in rural South Carolina with his family trying to raise a son with some sort of normalcy and shield his seed from the demons that plagued his own young life. But we all know when you leave unfinished business to simmer it has a way of bubbling up and boiling over when you’d hoped that the pot had possibly run dry!

Nan is flushed out from his home and family when a dear friend needs help. With guilt and sorrow fueling his mind he heads back to Brooklyn, New York to face and put to rest those “trifling times”. BUT the welcoming committee, death, is looming. Has his need for love, family, and a normal life dulled Nan’s survival skills? With demons etched firmly in his aura, will Nathan Jones be able to put them to rest permanently and go home to his family safely?

Award Wining author Moses Miller intrigued readers with his first offering in the “Nan” series “The Trifling Times Of Nathan Jones”. Then he commanded our full attention with the second book “The Game Of Trice”. Now in the third and final book of this series “The Trifecta” Mr. Miller has given us a suspenseful climax to this popular trilogy.

Superb writing skills on all levels are showcased here and in all of Mr. Millers books! He offers intelligent story lines with an emotional structure sliced with an urban edge that has solidified his place on my top authors list!

Great Trilogy,

Author Moses Miller again takes readers into the lives of Nathan Jones, Mark Carson and newbies from book two, Jada and Darius unfolding where “Nan:The Game of Trife” left off. I can’t say much more for fear of giving away too much of the story. But like his other books, “Nan:The Trifecta” is remarkable. I was engrossed and fully engaged. I hated to see this trilogy come to an end. I can’t wait for what Moses Miller has in store for us readers next.
