THE DARK ELF OF OKLAHOMA By Ethan Richards

Ethan Richards' "The Dark Elf of Oklahoma" is an engaging blend of fantasy and dystopian fiction that immerses readers in a world where the Old World’s magic and modern-day Oklahoma collide.

The novel is set in a post-apocalyptic Oklahoma where remnants of the Old World’s magic seep into the reality of the present day. Richards adeptly crafts a world where the boundaries between magic and technology blur, creating a unique and vivid setting that is both haunting and fascinating. The story's central conflict revolves around the mysterious and powerful Dark Elf, whose influence threatens to reshape the world in dark and unpredictable ways.

Richards’ characters are richly developed and multifaceted. Asher, a seasoned Nomad, provides a grounded perspective amidst the chaos, while Elena, grappling with her identity and past, adds depth to the story’s emotional landscape. Elden Orkenkind, the enigmatic Dark Elf, serves as a formidable antagonist whose motivations and actions drive much of the plot’s tension and intrigue."The Dark Elf of Oklahoma" delves into themes of power, identity, and survival. The juxtaposition of Old World magic with contemporary elements offers a fresh take on the classic battle between good and evil. Richards explores how individuals and societies react to existential threats and the moral complexities that arise in times of turmoil.

Richards’ prose is descriptive and evocative, drawing readers into his vividly imagined world. His ability to balance action with introspection ensures that the narrative remains dynamic and thought-provoking. The dialogue is sharp and often laced with humor, providing relief from the story’s darker moments. While the novel excels in world-building and character development, some readers might find the pacing uneven at times.

Fans of fantasy and dystopian genres will find much to appreciate in this novel’s rich tapestry of magic, conflict, and survival.

Writer must love Oklahoma because this is about half travelogue. The rest is disjointed. Depends too much on having read the first book in the series. Loves plot twists. Good guys become bad guys and vice versa.
