Questions and Answers on Spiritual Gifts

Rate this book
"The importance of the gifts of the Holy Spirit to the essential functioning of the Church of Jesus Christ cannot be over-estimated. Without them, the Church lacks the spiritual equipment so necessary for an aggressive conflict with the powers of darkness; she is also deprived of that edifying enrichment derived from the manifestation of the Holy Spirit's presence and power in her midst. If a person is 'called' to be a son of God, that person is also a prospective recipient of the gifts of the Holy Spirit." — Howard Carter Howard Carter pioneered a quest for revelation of this supernatural subject and was regarded as an authority on the gifts of the Spirit. He founded England's first Pentecostal Bible School and helped to establish a major denomination in that country. Questions & Answers on Spiritual Gifts was taken from a series of discussions at Hampstead Bible College in London, England. Howard Carter answered a broad range of questions How do you explain the visions of Daniel? If someone has the gift of healing, does it mean that he can heal anyone? Do the gift of discernment and the word of wisdom sometimes overlap? "The highlight of my entire life probably was the time I spent traveling and in ministry with Howard Carter." —Dr. Lester Sumrall, Pioneers of Faith The questions and answers in this book provide an eye-opening, easy-to-understand education on spiritual gifts. "If we ignore the gifts of the Holy Spirit we despise the heritage which is granted to us in Christ." Prepare to receive and to move in the gifts and callings God placed in your life!

The question/answer format really worked well for this book. The author systematically explores the nine spiritual gifts in I Cor. 12. To me, too much time is spent defining and redefining what is included in each gift and the author makes it very clear that the gifts do not overlap. Many portions of the book seem to be a game of symantics. For someone new to discussion of the gifts, there is good information to be gained. I differ with the offers views on a number of points, but found the explanations of how, when, and through whom the gifts work interesting.

The book is basically a transcription from a live teaching session/seminary class. There are a lot of spontaneous comments and questions by the students to which Carter brings insightful answers and supporting scriptures. Great information!

Awesome Book

You can't read this classic piece and remain the same. No matter how much you know on Spiritual Gifts, you'll still be shocked at the depth of ignorance you have on basic things concerning Spiritual Gifts. This is for all and sundry.

This book gives very detailed information about the spiritual gifts. The question-answer format makes it easy for the reader to extract the exact piece of information he or she is looking for. Although it has a little pentecostal-movement bias it delivers biblical evidences for its content and tries to stay objective.

The is a really good book to read when studying Spiritual gifts, particularly from an early Pentecostal perspective. Very good read, easy to understand. There's a reason this book is considered a Pentecostal classic.
