Xerk: As Captain of the Blue Tongue Orc Tribe, my responsibility is to protect my kind. There is but one problem. My tribe is doomed. Our females have been dwindling for generations until hundreds of males and a handful of females are left. Sadly, many females have fertile bonds and are no longer available for procreation.
My fertile bond is the first of her kind, Frey, a human who crash-landed on Harlock three years ago. Little does she know, I found the female aliens who were held captive with her, and they did not perish. They are tortured, being assaulted daily by the Red Eyed Orc Clan.
This rescue is dangerous by vital due to the fertility of these females and the fact that Frey’s best friend, Kitten, is at the Red Eyed Orc’s garrison. If I don’t save that feline, I’m afraid Frey’s love will never again be what it was when I informed her of this. She must feel extreme guilt for living safely inside the mountain these past years.
But I will make things right, so my fertile bond and I can be joyful once more. And Kitten will find safety among my tribe once she decides on one of my brothers as a fertile bond.
I found this book exciting. Intriguing. The Orc society, I found very interesting and that went deep. The characters of the persons were very well described, the emotions, the feelings. I found the description of Orc society quite believable. The protagonist who tries everything to share his world with the woman of his dreams. Her doubts, her loves, the emotional bonds she has and will receive. Change is not easy and certainly not when there are so many new things, you have your own experiences and what you have been given. And because to let go, that's also a struggle. And I am very curious about book 2. How will things go on with the main characters and will their characters be further explored. And is there a happy ending for everyone. Especially will their be acceptance for all the changing.
First book, that I have read by this author and it was a good read. I felt a bit lost at first, as it feels like we are missing part of the story, or there was a book before this where you get the beginning love story between Frey, (MFC) and Xerx. But once the more action happens you start to better understand. Loved that there are polyamorous relationships in the book. Great mystery to be uncovered surrounding the lack of female births in their tribe, changing the mindset of his fellow Orcs and how they treat women, lots of smexy times 🔥🔥, some character development, overall some really good writing. I will read the next book in the series.

As an independent ARC reader, it is my duty to review honestly; I take that seriously, and I warn readers when I think it may help them choose well. Thus: This one goes wa-a-ay beyond mere alien romance. There's so much sweet heat (and a little not-so-sweet), it's e-reader melting. It may even be hot enough to trigger spontaneous human combustion! Xerx the orc captain loves human Frey so much he violates cultural norm and won't share her. She loves Kitten, a feline alien sex slave, so Xerx rescues Kitten foe Frey. (You with me so far?) Then he falls for Kitten and won't share her, either...mutiny on Orc Mountain!! Understandable, since there too few orc females, and no female orc babies. The tsunami of jealousy forces Xerx, Frey, Kitten, and all the other orcs into rewriting the rules - and then struggling to live by them. Meanwhile, Xerx is tasked with solving the dilemma of the dwindling female population. It gets complicated and intense. I was pinned to my e-reader, hoping for an HEA. What I got exceeded all my hopes and expectations (although honestly, there was a bit of culture shock involved). My final take? If you are open to alien polyamory, this book is awesome! If that isn't your jam, skip this book and spare the author some undeserved bad reviews for a well-written and thoughtfully constructed alternate world.
Xerk, Captain of the Blue Tongue Orc tribe, leads a group of warriors to rescue female aliens who crash landed on Harlock to escape sexual assault and are now enduring more of the same from another orc tribe. His bonded mate, Frey, thought that her friend, Kitten, had been killed and is overjoyed to see her return. Xerk, Frey and Kitten have to work through their relationship together even as the difference between their disparate cultures complicates things for them and with his tribemates. Xerk is in charge of investigating why the females of his tribe seem unable to birth females orcs and why his tribe’s population is dwindling and the other threatening tribe is growing in numbers. Involved polyamorous relationships and an interesting mystery make for a good read. MM/MF/MFM – with multiple partners there are lots of options.
I will be completely transparent. I selected this ARC from Book Sirens because the blurb sounded interesting. I have zero background reading alien romances, but I read romances every day. So, I'm going into this with no preconceived notions or expectations for what this book *should* be.
That said, it was a pretty interesting story. There were strong themes of consent and personal choice that gave it a surprising depth that I was not quite expecting. That said, this book is probably level 5 spice, so if you don't care for that, you've been warned.
I give it 4 stars only because I'm not sold on this subgenre of romance. The story itself was perfectly fine to me.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I enjoyed reading this book, its has a amusing and action filled storyline. I can't wait for more from this author. I am intrigued with this exhibionist, open culture and will read more of this seris.
Greatly enjoyed this one. Wonderfully written, emotionally impactive & for me, completely unputdownable. Fascinating world building with unique species dynamics & fascinating characters I came to deeply care about & in whom I was thoroughly invested. I found myself immediately swirled into this story from the first sentence to the last. The author's writing was skilled, smooth & not only set up clear visuals in my mind but effortlessly engaged my my emotions from sweetly melting to tears to anger & back again. This one is loaded with love, romance, suspense, danger, action & acceptance. For readers searching for a wonderfully written fantasy romance to transport you from the real world, one peopled with fascinating characters you care about, one with intriguing dynamics, one with a thrilling plot & deep emotional depth: read this one. I loved it & cannot wait for the next one.
I offered to read an ARC copy of this book for the author. I have always liked monster romances and I was pleased to find that this novel had a theme of polyamory as well. I will say that I found the beginning interesting, but a little hard to process only because the writing style is unlike any other I've read before. Xerk's original intentions seemed a little bit muddy and the discussion on consent seemed a little confused until about a thrid of the way in. Katya was a wonderful character that I grew fond of easily, but there were many times, especially in the first half, that I found myself annoyed with Frey. She comes off as whiny and childish, but as the book progressed she became more likable. Overall I did read this very quickly, the pacing was good, and I didn't find myself going back and reminding myself of who is who very often. It's an enjoyable read.
This book is hot and steamy and full of taboo Sci-Fy fantasies!! It was a great read that keeps you captivated and ready for the next spicy scene! I had the privilege of being an ARC reader for this book, and am looking forward to more in the future.
I enjoyed the dynamics between Xerk, Frey, Kitten, Logar, and Marith. Relationships between two people are complicated, so it was interesting to see how these five were able to deal with their issues. The world building was really detailed. I jumped into this novel after seeing the cover and reading the blurb, and am glad I took a chance on something new. It was a little spicier than I expected, but I would definitely pick up another book by this author.

This is an emotional story of how one alien fights for the rights of all, not just women who are being treated unfairly and not having rights. He tries to convince his people using the adage “You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar” technique. At one point, it’s so sad I cried. Have your Kleenex handy. One person can make a difference!
Xerk is a captain of the Blue Tongue Orc tribe whose tribe seems to be dying out. Very few females are being born and surviving. A few years ago he rescued an alien female named Frey. She becomes his fertile bond and is carrying his orcling. Frey asked him to find and rescue her best friend Kitten. Xerk has found Kitten being held by an abusive orc tribe and frees her and the other prisoners being held. He and his warriors heal Kitten and bring her back to Frey. Then he learns that Frey and Kitten were more than friends.
Frey is a human female who was kidnapped by aliens. On board the ship, she was protected by an feline alien named Kitten. Frey can't handle the sexual or physical abuse. When the alien ship crashes, Frey is rescued by Xerk. He is very kind and protective of her. She is uncomfortable with their openness with sex. When Xerk brings Kitten home to her, she is torn between her feelings for both of them.
Kitten is part of an alien race where the females must ingest male sperm for food. Males on her planet treat females poorly so Kitten signed up to be a sex worker off planet. When she meets Frey, Frey show her affection and Kitten claims her as her own. She suffers when she is captured by the orc tribe. When Xerk rescues her, she believes that he is meant to be the third they needed. Xerk would provide her food. She claims both Xerk and Frey as hers but Xerk doesn't know what to make of this situation.

Wow! This book is a whirlwind of hot sex, romance, betrayal, and trauma with a mystery thrown in.
The first half introduces the main characters: Xerx, an "imprudent" orc and Frey and Katya, two traumatized former sex slaves. Xerx wants to introduce new ways of treating females in his clan much to the anger and consternation of his clan mates.
He has an uphill battle trying to change the minds of his fellow Orcs who are jealous of his claim to not one but two of the scarce females. Meanwhile he's also been charged by his king with investigating why boy orcs are being born healthy but female ones die at birth.
Xerx enlists the help of two of his friends to help guard and care for his precious females which results in all kinds of sexual hijinx and complications!!!
Frankly it's surprising Xerx manages to investigate anything with all the sex going on! If you like your reads full of hot and steamy sex this is the book for you. Phew! Need a cold shower...

Imprudent by B.L. Dawn is an absolutely fantastic book that had me hooked from the very first page. This novel is a heart-warming romance that is both sweet and steamy, and I could not put it down until I had finished reading it.
The story is expertly crafted, with well-rounded characters and a compelling plot that kept me engaged throughout. The chemistry between the two main characters, Frey and Xerk, was electric, and I loved the way their relationship developed over the course of the book.
The writing in this book is absolutely beautiful, and the descriptions are so vivid that I felt like I was right there with the characters. I also loved the way that the author incorporated humor into the story, which made it even more enjoyable to read.
Overall, I would highly recommend Imprudent to anyone who loves a good romance novel. It's a book that will make you laugh, cry, and swoon, and it's one of the best books I've read in a long time. Five stars!.

What an complex story. The thought process of coming up with this world is unique. Xerk - such an outstanding leader. Not only to his people but to helping those he rescued. He is trying to change a whole races attitude towards others. This is not going to be easy. Understanding how this race looks at relationships and the public viewing of such acts was not only a learning curve for me but for Frey as well. The fact that Xerk want Marith and Logar to be Frey and Katya's number 2 was very wise of him. It helped heal the females and have them all the love they needed with each other. I thought it was very interesting that the men's spit was a healing agent and their come has protein and helps feed the baby while growing inside. Again this book was full of interesting and creativity in creating a new world. Looking forward to more books in this world !!.

This was an exciting series opener by a new-to-me author. I'm loving her spin on orc culture and how spicy it is ;) Xerk, an orc in a committed relationship with Frey, rescues her fellow slaves from an abusive clan and he finds so much more when Katya's added to their home...especially when he finds out that Frey had been keeping secrets from him. Katya was overwhelmed with what was offered to her, relationship-wise, in this unique world. I loved how they had to work through their complex journey to an HEA while he was researching why there are less and less female orcs being born. The twists involved in that aspect of the story were intense. I really enjoyed this well written story and can't wait to dive into the next one to see what will happen with this orc clan. Good fun!
★ Well told and very entertaining first look into this New World Orc series ★
—>>> It is full steam ahead as soon as Xerk and his tribesmen rescue sex slaves who were horribly abused by their captors, one of which is Kitten, his bonded mate’s good friend. Although thrilled to have Kitten back in her life again, Frey’s human traditions clash with Xerk trying to uphold his own as a leader - both are challenging in this orc culture now that Kitten is there to stay. Secrets come out, and the truths have consequences. Winding its way throughout is the backstory of the tribe’s issues birthing female Blue Tongue orcs, which was a perturbing vein throughout. Well told and very entertaining first look into this New World Orc series!
I really enjoyed this book. Good world building and I liked the characters. I found this orc culture and characteristics interesting. The way the story started, when Xerk and Frey were already an established couple, and the orcs were in the middle of a rescue, almost seemed liked I'd missed the beginning or there was a previous book or prologue I missed. But I was quickly hooked to the story and it no longer mattered. This culture is a poly romance/love- which is an issue for Frey that she needs to work through to truly be accepted and happy. This is the first book I've read by this author and I look forward to reading more. 5 stars.
Enjoyable read, it took me a while and a few attempts to get into the story as I felt I was missing both Frey and Xerk's inital story and couldn't get into the dynamics of their relationship, then add Katya, Marith and Loger, it was all very confusing, but I'm glad I kept pursuing this to the end and that it had the ending where the relationship was all equal as it felt far to one sided at points. First book I've read from this author, I will be looking out for next books in this series.

Intriguing science fiction romance This was the first time I read the genre, and it was a revelation! Imprudent is a fast-paced, engaging read that takes off from the very first pages. The novel is well-written, the characters are well-developed, and the plot is exciting. The steamy scenes are so hot, the pages almost burned themselves! Still, they were backed by romance, and I loved how the relationships between the main characters evolved and grew. The world-building was refreshing, and I can't wait to read the other installments.
Imprudent by B. L. Dawn. Book 1 of New World Orc. A good read. I loved the cover. 4*.
Wow. What a wild and interesting read. The Blue Tongue Orc Tribe is dwindling as there are no more females for the males to bond with. Xerk needs to figure out what's going on so they have a chance at the future. Xerk and Frey's relationship takes an interesting turn when Katya enters their lives, and boy is it spicy and adventurous. I really enjoyed the story and recommend it to everyone who loves an alien steamy love story far away in the galaxy.
Awesome story! A real roller coaster of emotions. Characters are very warm and realistic. They had to overcome adapting to each other's cultural norms. The group sex was amazing. And very interesting. There's jealousy, betrayal, sadness, and a great hea that ties it all together.

Great start to the New World Orc series, it had everything a good fantasy novel should. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and follow their story. It left me wanting to read more in this world and from B. L. Dawn.

This story has great world building . The characters are well thought out and for once the orcs are not protrayed as thugs. This story has alot of steam. a mystery and love. This was my first book by this author, it will not be my last.

I was surprised with this story. A lot happened before story. Plus a lot of PTSD in this story. It shows how someone from another planet can help and care for someone in this shape. I fell in love with Xerk. Very good story. There is a lot of sex in it. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Received from BookSirens, I ordinarily enjoy this trope, this one was actually fun, but a bit too "sexy smexy" for me, but that might be something another person would enjoy even more. Cute writing, crazy characters. I didn't hate it, but just not for me. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book was interesting. There was a lot going on. Even though it is the first in the series, it felt like there should have been a prequel with how it started. It did end up explaining everything, it just felt like it started very quickly and a little out of order.
Side note: I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review
I am not into FF books. When I realized it was going to be FFM, I didn't really feel any better, but the book was interesting, and I kept going. I am so glad I did. Love takes many forms. I love this take on it. Also, I hope Kitten teaches all of the orclings to avoid her list of guards.
