이런 종류의 책 제목 중 "50이 넘어서 읽는 OOO..." 등을 보면 갸우뚱 했었는데, 이런 책들에 1도 관심 없던 내가 막상 50이 넘어 관심을 가지게 되고 읽게 되는 스스로를 보며 고개가 끄덕여 진다.

나이를 먹어가며 좀 '근원'적인 것에 관심이 가는 느낌.

대체 이분이 뭐라 했길래 2,500년 동안 동아시아의 사상과 철학에 그토록 지대한 영향을 미쳤다고 하는가.
그렇게 큰 영향을 미쳤다면 한국 사람인 나의 사고에도 큰 영향을 주었을 것. 그것이 궁금했나 보다.

그랬다면 기원전 500년 즈음 공자 당시 시대 상황은 어떠했길래 이런 아이디어가 발생 했을까, 또 이런 아이디어가 어떤 과정을 거쳐 프로모션 되었던 것일까.

기원전 800년에서 400년 사이를 '소 빙하기' 로 분류 한다고 한다.
이 기후 변화는 전 지구 적으로 광범위하게 농업 생산성 악화에 유사한 영향을 주었을 것인데 그리스의 철학, 인도의 불교, 중국의 공자처럼 각 지역 별로 크게 다른 철학적 관점이 출현, 이후로 2천년도 넘게 우리에게 영향을 미치는 듯 보인다.

헤겔은 이러한 변화가 관념으로부터 출발한다고 했다지만 난 애초에 이 관념의 변화를 초래한 것이 물질에 있다는 마르크스의 주장에 동의한다.

기후변화 -> 농업생산성 악화 -> 식량 위기 -> 전쟁 발발 -> 혼란 지속 -> 새로운 사상 출현

대략 이런 프로세스가 아니였을까?

로마 멸망 후의 변화, 페스트 이후의 변화, 1차/2차 세계대전 이후 철학/사상의 변화등...

한자를 읽는데 큰 관심이 없다면 패스하고 풀어쓴 부분만 읽어봐도 충분하지 싶다.
