People of faith need to be comfortable and intentional in two worlds-the world of the kingdom and the world of the commercial-blending and balancing their roles in each. Authors John C. Maxwell, Stephen Graves, and Thomas Addington identify the basic tools followers of Jesus should always have in their work toolbox: Calling, Serving, Character, and Skill.
John Calvin Maxwell is an American author, speaker, and pastor who has written many books, primarily focusing on leadership. Titles include The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership and The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader. Some of his books have been on the New York Times Best Seller List.
My take-away from this book, even though I no longer have a life at work; is the four powerful elements of calling, character, skill and serving still very much apply to me.
Another excellent book by John Maxwell, this time in collaboration with Stephen R. Graves and Thomas G. Addington, founders of Life@Work Journal. The four elements of successful integration of what we believe and how we work have been identified and explored in this seamless outline of connecting what we hear on Sunday wiith what we do on Monday. The first is skill (we improve our credibility when we demonstrate our faith AND ability), folowed by calling, serving (expanding the theme of servant-leadership), and character. This is essential reading for the Christian in the workplace.
Awesome read! Good biblical and practical step by step guide on how to shine His lights at work place. supported by the bible stories and verses and principles
