This book was a donation to the Library. As usual, I was reviewing it for consideration of adding it to the collection. What I noticed right away is that Reccord has a lot of good things to say about what a marriage should be. I ended up reading the whole book.

A short read at 125 pages, Reccord addresses the needs of spouses and the dangers of the lures of the Internet and other media. He outlines the steps of Devotion, Distraction, Drifting, and finally Departure in the slippery slope of Degeneration and Destruction. He also covers the steps of Reconciliation after sexual immorality: Responsibility, Repentance, and Restoration.

I especially appreciated his set of questions toward the end of the book that every husband and wife should ask each other to ensure that needs are being met. Questions such as: "Do you know I truly love you, and do I make that obvious? If not, how can I improve that?"

Recommended reading for all couples and people in ministry. It has a lot to say about being proactive in protecting your marriage and creating the legacy of a Godly marriage.

Bob Reccord’s book Beneath The Surface, has great wisdom and insight. I love this line, “At any given moment, every one of us is only one step away from stupid.” That shows how much we need our brothers; would David had fallen so far if Jonathan was by his side throughout his whole life? If you don’t have someone to encourage and hold you accountable, make this the year you seek out your Jonathan/Barnabas.

Every person in ministry should read this book. In fact, every person wanting to make sure they stay faithful to their spouse should read this book. It's only 125 pages. It's a good, short read.
