Easily Identify the Ferns You Find! Enjoy learning to identify ferns with this guide from authors Anne Hallowell and Barbara Hallowell. With this handy, easy-to-use book, you'll be able to identify a wide variety of ferns in no time. And its small size makes it just right for fitting into your pocket or pack when you go for a hike or a walk in the woods.
A well made identification fern guide. It is small and flexible enough to easily place it in a large pants pocket or back pack when hiking through woods and trails. The back cover even includes a convenient ruler with inches, centimeters, and millimeters to assist in identification. My only complaint is that most pages will have 2-4 ferns on one page and those illustrations can overlap. The illustrator attempts to combat confusion with green arrows connecting the names to each but then doesn't use an arrow to connect it to the geolocation map. So you sometimes may have to use your finger to gauge which illustration the map is closest to-that is the fern it belongs to. I'd still recommend this one
The layout makes identifying from the frond you're looking at remarkably straightforward. It's like a choose-your-own adventure field guide. Also nice that it's small enough to take on a hike without feeling weighed down.
