When the Demon King Lucifer escapes his prison in Hell and threatens chaos on the human world, Primrose must hunt him down. The High Court, a council of deities, is skeptical Primrose can handle Lucifer on her own and appoints the handsome yet icy Atlas Grimm, one of the fabled Grimm Brothers, to assist her. This paranormal fantasy was SUCH a unique read! I mean Greek mythology meets Grimm…doesn’t that just sound epic? And it was. I think my favorite aspect of this book was Primrose, our fiery FMC and the Goddess of Death. She was fully confident in who she was and was not interested in playing any of the political games that the others gods played. I also really enjoyed reading about Atlas Grimm, the God of Ice. He was appointed to help Primrose on her quest to hunt down the devil…and neither Primrose nor Atlas were happy about it. A little forced proximity? Yes please 😍

Loved the world building and the twists! I never felt like there was info dumping and am now anxiously awaiting book two 😍

Thanks to the author for gifting me a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I was not expecting this book to actually also involve the human realm, in the sense that the deities actually lived there or frequently visited. What an entrance Primrose makes : faded jeans, Disney t-shirt, pink sneakers and a baseball cap on top of her nonchalance. I immediately loved her. She's got an attitude and she's not afraid to show it ! I'm usually not someone that sees twists coming (I intentionally want to be surprised), so let me tell you that even though I understood something was cooking, I DID NOT SEE THAT ENDING COMING ! Someone get me book 2 now, please. Also, I'm a sucker for Greek Mythology, so the references in this book were a great touch !

Low 3*

Honestly, I wanted to like this a lot more than I actually did. I think it has crackin' world, magic, and plot ideas, but the actual plotting needs to be tightened up a lot. The book started off strong and ended with me wanting to know what happened next. But I was so bored in the middle that I considered DNFing and, though I wanted to know what happens, the twist at the end I saw coming. (I even have a pretty solid guess about who the mystery masked villain is. I'm pretty confident I'll turn out to be right.) The combination of having muscled through the middle on little more than determination and then hitting a predictable, cliffhanger ending was a pretty weak ending, in my opinion.

I did like Rose, though some of her characterizations made no sense to me. The whole insistence on stilettos felt both out of place and out of character (and cliched). The fact that she is one of the oldest goddesses alive but reads like a stroppy, ill-informed teenager felt like infantilization. Her abilities felt inconsistent (unbeatable at some times and easily overcome at others), and there is just a general sense of the deities (all of them) who hold such contempt for humans being too HUMAN.

Add to all of that a fuzzy sense of time and history, two male leads—neither of which the reader gets to know well enough to be more than cardboard cut-outs—and some truly odd phrasing in the writing (that is otherwise pretty clean) and you have a bit of a fizzle read. However, I believe this is the author's first book, and there is a solid base to improve on. She has obvious talent.

I always hate to say this, but if this book had been given to a ruthless developmental editor (not a copy editor, but one to work with Narita on tightening the plot and cutting out some of the chaff and cliched aspects), this could have been so much better than it is. I think that's what bothers me. This is so close to being so good and does itself a disservice by not quite getting there (at least in my opinion). All in all, I'll say it was OK, not bad, but it doesn't live up to its awesome cover.

This was such a fun paranormal romances that blended demons, goddesses, and the Grimm brothers. The author did a great job at creating an amazing character in Primrose. She is definitely one of my favorites now.

The world is interesting and the author does a good job at balancing description and dialogue so it doesn't feel like an information overload.

Can't wait for more!

A thrilling fantasy suspense with gods and goddesses. I really enjoyed the twists and takes on mythology and how the story unfolded. It was exciting and interesting with so many twists and turns that I never saw coming.

There was a lot that I really enjoyed about this book, including :

-- a unique premise. The way the author approached the idea of Gods and deities was something I hadn't read before. The mythology behind them was awesome and I loved learning more about their history throughout the book. It had a bit of an American Gods feel, with them being in the modern world.

-- Primrose. I have always been and will forever be a huge fan of strong female characters who are also vulnerable and not unbreakable. Primrose is having a bit of an existential crisis about herself and her role in the world. It was refreshing seeing her unsettled and watching her sort of reevaluate. As someone who is constantly trying to figure herself out, I connected strongly with this.

There were some things that I struggled with, too.

-- while the magic system and the history were both unique, they were also somewhat complicated in their breakdown at times.

-- there were a few too many plot lines introduced. I know this is the first book in a series so I'm sure some things will be explained in later books, but sometimes it felt that the story went off-track. I know that world building is a delicate balance and I give the author a ton of credit for what she achieved, it just felt like a little too much for one book. It also felt like there were one or two important moments that were glossed over and didn't get the time they deserved.

-- I didn't really connect with either of the love interests. We don't get to spend a ton of time with them with Primrose, and so there wasn't a strong enough connection established for me as a reader. Honestly, I enjoyed the scenes when Prim was on her own more than I did when either of the dudes came around.

I would love to see a Prim and Elinor adventure in the future, versus Prim and the guys.

The end of the book was super well done, and left me excited to find out what happens in the next one. I loved Prim, I loved the world Raluca built, and I am looking forward to reading more about both.

Thank you to the author and Book of Matches Media for the free finished copy of "Dark Magic". All opinions are my own.

This was a captivating paranormal fantasy full of danger! I loved the blend of the story with mythology: all the different gods and goddesses of High Court and the devil himself. 😈

We follow the story of Primrose, the Goddess of Death. She rules the underworld, yet, she avoids setting foot there as much as she can. She can’t stand the nothingness of the Underworld. Which is why she’s shocked to discover Lucifer, the Demon King, escaped his cage in Hell… and there is only one thing he wants: her. Lucifer won’t stop until he has her as his Queen. Faced with the task to bring down the Demon King, Primrose embarks on a journey full of peril and supernatural creatures. To make matters more complicated, the insufferable and cold God of Ice, Atlas Grimm, insists on accompanying her to make sure the job is done.

I was totally biased while reading because I loved Lucifer from the very start, so I was rooting for their romance the entire time! I will not give any spoilers, but let’s just say that the ending was BRUTAL and the betrayal had me in ANGUISH! 😭🖤

So I have mixed feelings about this book... I did love the action/fighting scenes. The world building and writing were good. The twist end had me wanting more so I will be reading the next book becuase I want to know what happens. I also like the FMC most of the time I appreciated that the Goddess of Death regardless of her job still cared for life but at times I felt her to almost be a push over with how old she was. I understand that she explained that she likes to be underestimated but to take some of the crap was just letting them walk all over her. I have hope for her in the next book that she will come back with more fire. Also the love interest just wasn't there for me. I felt like the first two time they kissed were out of no where and truly felt like the hardly like each other in those moments. Towards the end they had a moment and that I feel should have been there first kiss. This was a debut book so I intrigued to see how that story progresses.

Raluca Narita has absolutely knocked this out of the park!
From the action, Gods and Demons, Good vs Evil and morally grey characters, to the unique magic system (which I can’t wait to see more of), Dark Magic was an amazing read and I’m so glad I have it on my shelf. This YA novel is absolutely plot based with the romance taking a backseat, and while it went along with the story, the connections felt a bit forced but I’m interested to see how that plays out in the next book because Primrose is no damsel and 1000% is able to kick ass and handle her own.

Loved it!!

With a gripping synopsis that sounds promising and an opening line of "There is no such thing as happily ever after", Dark Magic delivers on adventure, action and magic. When Greek mythology meets the Brothers Grimm you know that this is no ordinary paranormal fantasy! I loved Primrose, she is such a fierce FMC and my new favourite character.

From the map to the chapter headings, everything is creative and adds to epic worldbuilding. I have never read anything like this and at times felt that I couldn't read fast enough, I had to know what happen next. The book ends on a cliffhanger and has me so excited for the second book, Caged Magic. This is the first book in the The Chronicles of the Underworld series and I'm eager to join Primrose on her next adventure!

I recommend this to readers who enjoy Greek mythology with a darker twist, paranormal fantasy and FMC who is unshakeable and bold!

Many thanks to MTMC Tours & the author for gifting me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Primrose Titan, the Goddess of Death, reaps the souls of the dead, and begrudgingly rules the underworld. When her charge Lucifer, escapes from his prison, and wreaks havoc on the human world, Primrose must hunt him down, but with members of the high court believing her incapable, Atlas Grimm, God of ice, and the eldest and most elusive of the Grimm brothers, is appointed to assist her, in this new adventure, much to her dismay.

Primrose is an absolute POWERHOUSE . I adore her and her indomitable spirit, she's a force to be reckoned with, and an absolute bad-ass in battle. She's sassy, cunning, witty, and so tenacious it's hard not to become completely enamoured by her. She's underestimated for her capabilities, and powers, often seen as weak and easily vanquished, but she holds her cards very close to her chest. Primrose is devilishly and delectably devious, I loved seeing her lean into herself and become more confident whilst still being her unshakeable bad-ass self, it was so empowering and astounding to witness.

Lucifer is as chaotic and devious as you'd expect, determined to enact his revenge and take Primrose as his queen, at whatever cost, whilst having some fun and achieve some light homicide in the process. He's a deliciously morally grey and complex character, that despite being the villain, you can't help but root for him. The tension and flirting between him and Primrose is so giddying, my god. Two fierce, bad asses each trying to outwit and dominate the other, what more could you want?

Atlas Grimm is a grump but the best kind. Honestly all the tension and banter between Primrose and Lucifer and Primrose and Atlas is just off the charts and absolutely hilarious. Atlas despises anyone else being in charge of situations, as Primrose is a hard-headed and stubborn protagonist they predictably butt heads and it is so much fun to see them battling each other for control. I really loved seeing how Primrose brings out a kinder and more compassionate side to this rich, egotistical god, who sees other deities and humans as less than they are. He's a character that sneaks up on you, especially as you see his softer side, he's an absolute warrior and just an all round gorgeously grumpy ice god.

This story absolutely blew me away. The writing is so beautifully immersive and atmospheric. It feels transportive, and just an incredibly thrilling and compelling ride. Overflowing with Underworld Mythology, and astounding imaginative twists on the Fables we've all been brought up on. Utterly enchanting and enthralling, there's so much action and adventure, it genuinely makes you forget you're reading, I was on edge the whole time. Primrose is just a fierce bad-ass, the amount of trials and battles she faces, yet she fights them all without fear or exhaustion is truly unmatched, she's on a whole other godly level. There are several different plot lines running simultaneously through the story, but it's just so immersive that it flows well, everything weaves together so seamlessly, adding further insight and depth to the stunning writing.

I cannot fully express just how much of a ride this book was, jam-packed with gritty, immense and epic battles, betrayals, and complex characters, each with their own multi-layered arcs, and developments that were so beautifully and palpably written. The last few chapters my heart was in my throat the entire time, I had to put the book down and pace a little because I was absolutely shook. 'Dark Magic' is an insane and breath-taking start to the series. I cannot wait for Book 2 and all the amazing things Raluca is going to achieve with her gorgeously atmospheric writing.

This book was such an exciting read! I really enjoyed the spin on this fantasy world of gods and goddesses.

The FMC, Primrose, is a strong and fierce character which as the Goddess of Death, you’d expect but she also has a compassionate side. She goes on the hunt for Lucifer, the Demon King, who recently escaped from Primrose’s prison in the Underworld. He is infatuated with Primrose and the feeling is not mutual.. I enjoyed their dynamic! In her hunt for Lucifer, she is joined by Atlas, the God of Ice and he is icy hot 😉 They also have a really great dynamic together. The book has a very interesting and creative storyline. It was captivating from the start and I can’t wait for the next book.

The Goddess of Death, the Grimm Brothers, and the Devil collide in a thrilling new paranormal fantasy series.

@darkmagicnovel is the first book in the Chronicles of the Underworld Series by @ralucanarita. First, I have to say that Dark Magic is a stunningly beautiful book. I loved the hardcover edition, and I loved how pretty the inside of the book was. And then I am also very happy to report that the story is just as great as the aesthetics of the book! Dark Magic was a fantastic paranormal journey and I can't wait to see where the next book in the series is going to take us.

In Dark Magic, we meet our main character Primrose, who is a fierce goddess of death. Her job is to reap souls and bring them into the underworld. I love a good reaper story and Primrose was a great main character. She was well fleshed out, and I really enjoyed reading from her perspective. We join her on her journey to take down Lucifer. Lucifer was also an interesting character. I quite enjoyed Raluca's story telling and character development.

We also have a gods of Olympus and the set up for them was done in a really interesting way. I loved this take on the gods and the high court. The romance was good, and I am interested to see where it goes in the next book, but I wasn't head over heels in love with the romance just yet. Lots of different mythology was packed into this story and I think that was my favorite element. Overall, I enjoyed this book and would like to continue on with the series.

Primrose Titan is the Goddess of Death, her purpose is to reap souls and lead them to their rightful place in the Underworld. While it is customary for each God to stay in there Realm, Primrose much prefers to live among humans, only visiting the Underworld when necessary as her realm sucks the life out of her. Seeing souls become nothing, or leading them to hell to suffer for eternity is not something that brings her joy.

But because she hardly ever visits the Underworld, she has no idea that Lucifer escaped from his cage. The High Court is ruled by the Grimm brother's and during there annual gathering, she is accused of letting Lucifer go - even though she locked him away herself. She knows that it is her duty to obtain his Soul Dagger and end his life so she ensures the High Court that it will be done. Only, Atlas Grimm insists on hunting Lucifer down alongside her.

Primrose has to put up with Altas Grimm's insufferable attitude while facing well planned attacks from demons who will not let her get close to Lucifer. After a spell leads her to the Ancient Garden in search of Lucifer's Soul Dagger, she comes across a community of Gaurdians no one knew existed and Primrose learns her true identity and what it means to trust someone who ends up betraying her.

My thoughts:
What a thrilling read!! I love anything to do with Lucifer and demons! I loved how the author played around with mythology and created something so unique. The story was so good and it was full of action and so many surprises. I loved that the Goddess of Death was having somewhat of a "midlife crisis", it made her relatable and humanized her. The mystery surrounding Lucifer's character had me intrigued. It was an easy read and was written so well. I love Atlas Grimm so much and the ending completely shocked me. I cannot wait for the next book.

I absolutely loved this! I've read a lot of good books this year so far, & this is definitely in my top 3. In this, we're introduced to Primrose Titan, the Goddess of Death and Queen of the Underworld. Enter the calamity. Lucifer, King of Demons, who escapes from his cage in hell. His escape is what prompts the story. Prim is paired up with Atlas, God of Ice & one-half of the Grimm Brothers, to kill Lucifer. Neither is happy about this, but the story gets juicier & juicier from there.

The twists & turns, mysteries, deceptions, & betrayals are done so well. It's a book that's hard to put down once you start. There's adventure, morally grey characters, magic, uncovered truths, hidden memories, & more. The ❤️ aspect was a bit off for me, there were some tender moments for both ships, but it’s more alluding to a potential eventuality. The mix of mythology & fairy tales is superb & the ending was amazing! I can’t wait for book two to discover what happens next. This was a 5-⭐️ read for me, I got sucked in & loved reading it. Remember: dead isn't dead, until Prim says so.

Primrose Titan is the Goddess of Death. She’s an ancient being who reaps souls and guides them to the Underworld. In her spare time, she’s a coffee-addict and avid reader. I loved this juxtaposition and mold-breaking characterization.

This book is rich in lore and history. It’s on a need-to-know basis, so there is no info-dumping. You get the necessary information as the story progresses, which I thought was great. It also kept me turning pages to get answers to my questions.

This book is so complex and rich in political intrigue, filled with action, and is deeply philosophical.

My only complaint is that I have to wait for book 2 when this one left me craving answers!!

Great series starter that unfolds delicately as the story progresses. Thought there is action throughout, the character’s introspective journey features just as strongly and the journey readers take with Primrose is full of secrets and revelations. The Goddess of Death doesn’t truly know herself until she undertakes the task of finding an escaped Lucifer and killing him to save the world. The Allie’s she finds along the way begin to unravel many mysteries about her past and being to light more corruption in this unique world where the many dieties walk among humans.

I was truly sucked into this one and as the tension built to the final scenes, I was left hanging on every word. I am very, very excited to see how things continue to unfold in book two!!

\\\\\ 3.5/5 \\\\\

Primrose Titan is the definition of strong female character, she looks like it, she acts like it and it was instant love for me! I did enjoy that she had a softer side, which you kind of don’t expect from the Goddess of Death. I really enjoyed the setup mixing Gods and deities in the modern world, it was super interesting.

I have to admit that I had mixed feelings throughout my reading, but it ended on a high note for me so my overall impression of the book is still a pretty good one. As much as I loved the world-building, at moments it was really complicated and felt like a lot of details to remember (that’s mainly because I have a brain with a lack of memory space apparently). But it sure was a one of a kind magic system, which made everything quite interesting. Let me say that the last third of the book was really what got me deep into that story, I just couldn't stop reading.

At first, as the story went, it just felt like it was not focusing on the main story line that much, and that was quite confusing to me. I remember thinking that every new chapter brought a new deity/creature with new powers and sometimes a background story linked to our main character in a way, so it was a lot. Which also made it hard to get attached to any character other than Rose, cause we only got glimpses of everyone else. I was waiting to fall in love with Lucifer (okay, I did a little anyways, but knowing myself, I can go crazy in love really fast normally and that did not happen), I wanted a little bit more time with him, and also with Atlas, cause I couldn’t make up my mind about him. I feel like if the book had focused more on these important characters and their interaction with our FMC it would have made it easier to have feelings for them (whether it was hate or love but just some feelings, you know?)

Once the story was more focused on the actual chasing of Lucifer it started going faster for me and I was hooked. That whole ending really got me on the edge of my seat and I just can’t believe I now have to wait until I know the rest of that story!!! (my heart broke a little btw, I was not ready for that ending!) Raluca’s writing is delightful and she has created a very fascinating world that leaves you wanting to know more about it and its characters. I cannot wait to read the rest of Primrose’s story.

Huge thanks to the author and Book of Matches Media for the book. All opinions are my own.

Thank you to the author for providing a copy in exchange for an honest review!

The premise for this dark, urban fantasy is unique and really grabbed my attention from the first page. The first quarter of the book was great and I found myself excited for the story. Unfortunately, I really struggled once I got to around the 30% mark. The plot just dragged to end with a predictable twist and cliffhanger. I like Primrose as a character, she refuses to change herself to fit her title as the Goddess of death and was overall strong and capable. There were some moments I felt like her character was slightly inconsistent - such as the insistence on wearing stilettos when she was hell bent on wearing her casual clothes to a meeting earlier on in the book, or how sometimes she was easily beaten in battle when previously she absolutely demolished her enemies. I also felt zero connection with the love interests. I found the first kissing scene to be completely out of the blue and that no one has any chemistry to make me want or expect a romance. I think Raluca has a ton of potential with this story and would really benefit with tightening up the plot and adding dimension to the side characters. I think with the right edits and support, this series could be a hit. For a first novel, it’s not bad at all! I plan on following along to see how the author’s style develops and improves over time.

I wanted so much to like this book. There are a lot of really cool elements that, if done differently, would have been killer. Gods and Goddesses. Myths and Magic come to life. Lucifer and his many intriguing, but glossed over, siblings. A freaking Dragon—this should be a five-star read.. but there are just too many things about it that I didn't like.
Like the reckless and unlikable main character who is supposed to be a complete badass but, instead, is essentially just a trouble magnet with a bad attitude. And she's not alone because none of the characters are very friendly.
Then there's the fifteen thousand strange but intriguing enemies that almost continuously make an appearance—them, I would've liked to see more of, but it feels like they were just thrown in with the kitchen sink.
And if that isn't enough, Primrose (what a name) and the older grimm brother Atlas, yeesh.. It's not even the fact that they loathe one another that bothers me, I'm good with the enemies-to-lovers angle, but there is zero chemistry there. Zero.

When I went to pick the book up again and realized I would rather do.. anything else, it was a pretty good indication that this one wasn't for me. It is unfortunate, but it happens.

I do believe that many fantasy readers will enjoy Dark Magic..
I, however, failed to be one of them.

Thanks so much for reading!

Such a great debut novel with a unique storyline.

The writer paid great attention to detail explaining the lore and the magic system in the book. There was no point where I thought "wait this doesn't make sense." There is a lot of background information which I'm guessing is to help set up for the second book. There were so many different aspects to the magic system in this book from the gods, magical items different realms and different supernatural beings which all painted a detailed picture.

Primrose is such a great female lead, I loved her strong personality which didn't falter at any point in the book. She knows what she wants, she stands her ground and isn't afraid of a good fight.

I didn't find that the relationships between primrose and some of the other characters were a bit lacking. There wasn't too much depth or meaningful connection I found between people like Atlas, Elinore and Lucifer. Though these characters were a major part of Primroses life, I found their dialog and banter just a bit lacking.

Also the chemistry between Atlas and Primrose was really odd, I just felt like when they kissed it was really random. Though Primrose wasn't particularly interested, I just didn't find Atlas to have much emotion either. This mightve been something the author did intentionally but I just felt like it didn't need to happen.

Dark Magic is the first in an action-packed series following the Goddess of Death, Primrose, among the world of trickery, betrayals, and political maneuvers of her fellow gods and goddesses. The story starts with Lucifer escaping his prison in Hell and Primrose having to team up with the elder Grimm brother, Atlas, to find him before he causes mischief for the Gods. But this story strays far from its opening scene as the world-building leads to questions about Primrose's past and the other gods begin scheming behind her back. You want know who or what to trust in this story.

This was an incredibly fun read. The tone of our MC, Primrose is perfectly developed, and it made it awesome to read from her POV. If you like action scenes, mythology retellings, and characters that must travel to many different places, you'll want to add this to your TBR.

There were some time where some things came off as a little too convenient, though I suppose that's more typical when it comes to stories involving gods and goddesses. The expected romance didn't really develop, but I can't wait to see what comes of it in the sequel based on THAT CRAZY ENDING.

I never knew what to expect with this plot, and that was the best part about it. The cliffhanger is epic, and I want more!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

This book is so beautiful and gorgeously formatted! You can tell the author put a lot of time and effort into creating a beautiful piece of art with this book!

I really enjoyed how the author was able to intertwine fantasy and mythology into one unique world! (Death Goddess, Grimm Brothers, and Lucifer!)

Primrose is a strong FMC and lives up to the normal goddess hype being strong willed, and stubborn 🤣. The journey through book one was superb, but the romance wasn’t for me.

I didn’t feel like Primrose or any of the “love interests” really hit it off. When there were romantic moments it felt forced and a little awkward. I am hoping this aspect will make more sense in book two because right now I don’t see her end game being with any of them 😅.

The book was pretty well paced (some slower parts, and some explosive parts that balanced each other out).

There were just enough twists and turns to keep me engaged and that ending was 🤯. I need answers and I am not okay 🤣. I need book two asap! ❤️‍🔥

This book is full of pace alongside twists and turns that keep you on your toes until the very end.

I am absolutely here for everything in this book, I thoroughly enjoyed the interpretation and creation of the lore surround the Goddess of Death, the Grimm brothers, the other deities and a plethora of other magical creatures.

Primrose (aka the Goddess of Death) is such an incredibly well written character. Her personal development is complex and incredibly written as she struggles with her own personal demons and history.

Hunting down the Demon King Lucifer is posed as the main challenge in this story but you quickly come to understand that there are mysteries at every turn and this had me absolutely glued to this book page after page.

I must admit I thought I had everything sorted out and knew how the book was going to end but I could not have been more wrong. I now have so many more questions and I can’t wait to jump back into this world when book two comes out, if this book is anything to go by it’s going to be a roller coaster ride.

I received and ARC copy of this book and can confirm that this is my honest review.

Dark Magic had an interesting premise, which had me interested. A cat and mouse chase with the prince of hell himself, with possible enemies to lovers sidestory, sounded really good! But in the end I was mostly left disappointed. Because the premise and what I actually got in the book felt like two different things.

There was no real chase between the main character Primrose and Lucifer. Neither was there any duo shenanigans or such. Mostly it was just Primrose being a strong, badass lone wolf goddess. Which is fine, but not what I was expecting or hoping for.Not to mention that I had to double check to make sure that it wasn’t accidentally a sequel, because it felt that there were things that the reader should already be familiar with somehow? The best part was the last third of the book with the unnamed village in the Ancient land. If the entire story had been like it, I would have liked the book way more. But in the end my thing, and thus not a book for me.

However, with that said, I can definitely see other people enjoy this book if they like a book that freely mixes fairytales and mythologies, a stubborn och sarcastic goddess, battles with mythological monsters, and a big journey through many different lands. But don’t expect an enemies to lovers romance.

We love a goddess having a mid-life crisis!!

The devil has escaped his prison in Hell and the Goddess of Death, Primrose Titan is on the hunt to find him and kill him. The council of deities, the High Court doesn’t trust Primrose to carry on the task on her own and appoints Atlas Grimm, the God of Ice to assist her.

They must learn to trust each other to work together, which isn’t easy since the High Court is built on deceit and lies. This hunt begins an exciting adventure with supernatural creatures, assassins and more.

With an awesome cast of gods, reapers, vampyrs, demons, dragons and the devil, this book provided a nail biting adventure packed with action. I am obsessed with Primrose, be it her incredibly uncompromising personality or her fashion sense. I loved how she owned her power and at the same time, accepted that she has issues.

I enjoyed every second of this incredible tale with Primrose leading the way without letting anyone bring her down. Her character was fleshed out and detailed. There was so much going on that I could not put the book down.

I am excited for the sequel and desperately need it soon! Thank you to the author and BOMM for sending me an ARC to this incredible read!

3.75⭐️

this book was good! i loved the unique premise and take on gods and deities! it was like if gods and goddesses were placed on the streets of New York! it was really interesting! also Raluca’s writing was 🤌🏼 i also loved the main character, Primrose! she was such a strong, badass FMC and i loved reading from her perspective! i really enjoyed the plot as well and all the twists! THE ENDING was wild and i didn’t see that coming! i need book two yesterday!!

what i didn’t enjoy:
i felt like it was really jarring that the goddess of death basically talked like a 24 year old! i really wanted her to be more ancient! also the way she dresses! i know it’s so minor but i feel like it really took me out of the story!

second, i didn’t enjoy how it felt like everything was super easy for her until the end. like she faced tons of challenges but it felt like with a flick of her wrist she overcame them!

third, i didn’t feel emotionally attached to the romance and it felt like it came on too quickly!

overall not a bad book by any means! actually quite a good book, and a good start to a series i think i will enjoy! 🌷🌷

**thank you to Feather and Dove book tours and the author for sending me a copy!**

I enjoyed this unique and captivating paranormal fantasy with mythological elements.

Primrose was an amazing, strong character and I loved the journey she went on. I was big fan or Atlas and I really wish Primrose had more interaction with Lucifer.

There were fast moments and slow moments that took me away from the book, but it was still enjoyable. I didn’t feel the chemistry I was hoping for between Atlas and Primrose which was a bit of a let down. Also Lucifer didn’t get nearly enough screen time with Primrose and I’m hoping we’ll se more of that in the next book.

I enjoyed Dark Magic and the way the author blended many different mythologies and Grimm tales in this unique book. I can’t wait to read the next book!

A dark fantasy of Primrose, the Goddess of Death, and her journey to defeat Lucifer. But her quest is not an easy once - full of danger and deceit and betrayal, who can she trust besides herself? While the plot was slow moving and at times difficult to move through, the constant threat of Primrose’s end had me wondering what would happen next. I do feel bad for Lucifer - was he truly the bad guy in the end? Did he deserve his death? There are so much more unanswered questions about Rose’s forgotten history, the players in this and the truth about what is actually happening.

I received a free e-ARC of this book for an honest review.

This was SUCH a fun book. I flew through it, and immediately fell in love with this unique fantasy world. Some thing to expect:

- Greek Mythology Ties
- Strong Female MC
- Unique Magic System
- Enemies to Lovers, although romance isn't the main plot line!
- No spice, the most you get is some kissing.

I thought the pacing was fast, which can be hard to do when building a new fantasy world. The author did a great job of using creative ways to get us the backstory we needed, without spending 100s of pages to lay everything out there.

If you like things like: Ninth House + Hell Bent, Sabrina on Netflix, or the Underworld Movies - go check this out!
