Olivia is forced to return to her parents' home in Carlton, Oregon after one of the biggest mistakes of her lifetime. What she thought would be a calmer way of life, a breath of fresh air from the New York City hustle and bustle ends up being the most horrific and traumatic nightmare she could have ever imagined. From being chased through the woods by an unknown psychopath to being taunted at every corner, the only thing holding Olivia together, is Ivy, the local police officer. Will Olivia and Ivy be able to put the missing puzzle pieces together from a cryptic and elusive stalker?
Hero worship at its finest and it just annoyed me. You can fall in love with your rescuer and have a solid mystery plot still, this one doesn’t. It’s super predictable and very lust-driven.
It’s in first person POV of one of the mains but at some point it suddenly switched for a couple of pages, that shit was confusing. Not to mention that I found some glaring mistakes here and there, as well as some typos, editing is an art…
I finished it because I wanted to see if I was right and how it all got resolved. It was a bit of a snooze fest.
Not for me, others liked it so please read more reviews
Mackenzie Rice penned an epic first chapter that was gripping, emotional, and suspenseful with the main character being chased through the woods by a maniac. When Olivia wakes up she’s in the hospital and sitting next to her is the hunky copy, Ivy who saved her life. The two form a quick bond and begin the journey of trying to find out who wants to end Olivia’s life.
The story is told from Olivia’s first-person point of view which works well here as readers are privy to all of her thoughts, feelings, and emotions. It also helps to maintain the air of mystery surrounding who the killer is.
There are some inconsistencies as well as grammatical and formatting errors that could pull some readers out of the story. But overall it’s a good story that I had a hard time putting down because I needed to see how it was going to turn out.
The first chapter of this book was amazing. Brilliant suspense writing with maximum impact. Unfortunately, the rest of the book had some glaring issues.
The fact that her brother didn’t explore the obvious plot point of the fact that the mother was a serial cheater, and yet condemned him for life.
Sophie’s parents being treated like they were innocent when they were very rich privileged people who covered up their daughter, literally leaving someone to die, because they could
The romance felt really contrived and rushed. It felt very stilted and not very natural.
The author has a lot of potential and demonstrated that our various points in the book, so I’m excited to see her future work.

This book started out great! The suspense was there, it was everything you want in a thriller. However I felt like it was a little rushed. I felt it was a bit too obvious at times. There were also a few inconsistencies. Like at one point they say Sophie was 15 at the time of the incident, then Olivia said they were the same age, but she was 13 when everything happened.
I don’t like who Olivia blamed her parents and went as far as cutting all contact for their part in all of this, but had no issues with Sophie’s parents. I mean yeah, they lost a daughter, and while she didn’t deserve to die, she left Scott there to die and then her parents covered it all up.
The other think I couldn’t get over was when the author wrote in text. Like she put “wtf” and “idk” in there. To me that was weird.
There were a few grammatical and formatting errors, but it was still a pretty good story. I would be willing to read another of her books if she comes out with more.

This book was a bit of a let down for me, not something I would read again. The story line was predictable the whole way through for me, not much of a twist being Olivia’s brother. The romance of Olivia and Ivy started out sweet, Ivy saving Olivia and being Olivia’s strong shoulder to lean and cry on but it quickly became an exaggeration of a “lesbian” love story that typical heterosexuals imagine. I know Mackenzie is a new author and I wish her the best. Lots of promising potential, this book for me was a little too juvenile in the writing with language choice and errors but potential for improvement on future books.

I really enjoyed this book I couldn't put it down I was up late reading it love the characters the story line I would like to read some more from this author I recommend this book.
This is a suspenseful romance, I finished it within a day. Loved the relationship between Olivia & Ivy, had my suspicions on who the killer was but was still surprised by the ending. Awesome job. Also the dedication in the front & back were very moving, if I was a normal person i probably would have shed a tear. Very beautiful.
