Who can I trust when so many want me dead?

Thanks to callous parents and a cheating boyfriend, I built a wall around my heart.
Then, I met Tanner. One glance into his captivating eyes and I feel a relentless, primal attraction. My body aches for his touch.

But Tanner holds a dark secret that will claw its way to the surface with fur and fang. Thrust into a world of power-hungry alphas and the wolf hierarchy, I quickly learn there are those willing to kill to keep us apart.

Loyalists to the Alpha are circling, preparing to rip us to shreds at his command. Together, will we be strong enough to withstand the battle to come? Or, will our bond mark us for death?

How did I wait so long to read this book! It’s DIVINE, literally! Call me baby girl and open the car door for me too please Tanner(hunky spunky MMC)

The few pages I wanted to smack her parents over the head with the book. ASSHATS. Did my perception change of them thought out, no we dislike them. They are unhinged asshats.

Our gorgeous FMC is lacking any form of parental love from said asshat parents. But she is like F THIS I deserve more. With dreams of a new life she just takes off.
What would you do to go to collage and continue your dreams of Harvard and psychology. Well you shake that fine a$$ of yours of course! Plus freedom from you unhinged f*ed parents of course!

Then we just get into a wild ride. I had ZERO clue of what was going to happen and we just kept getting surprise after surprise. I don’t know how our poor FMC doesn’t have whiplash cos that was a wild ride. WILD!

I loved that I could read this book and literally could just sit back and be taken on the ride. I thought I knew what was going to happen, nope!

Also our side characters are awesome and I love their friendship and amazing found family vibes! Loved the friendships and girl power!

Only fault is slight time repetition. Also the shifter stuff doesn’t pop up early on but I loved that!! I actually liked the build on relationships and setting before jumping into it. However there is some repetition to start.

If I don’t have my hot little hands on book two I’m going in implode.

I love that I had no idea where this was going but it left me me pleasantly surprised!!!!

Plus DEAR AUTHOR THAT ENDING! We need book two asap.

Love love love. Rebecca Pratt is on the instant buy list!

A received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review so let’s begin.

Disclaimer: these are my personal opinions and feelings and I don’t wish to offend anyone by expressing them. Even if I didn’t love the book , you might! That’s the beauty of reading after all 🤍

I Love shapeshifter stories and the blurb was right up my alley HOWEVER

1.
Some of the timeline seems a little cut off:
There is a lot of “a few days later” , “a few months later” in a span of 4 chapters . Which leads to chapter 5 I think and two years later? So just as a detail there could have been a “before” followed by this 2 years later .

Examples for the timeline:
Her bf is there they have fun, he goes home she makes a sandwich and then bam a few months later . Could have had a little smoother transition regarding the timeline ( jump in the future) . The next part of the chapter after she makes a sandwich and goes upstairs begins with “ after months of waiting and living in misery today is my final day at home”. Is this the next day after the Sandwich? Is it months away?

2.
Moving on she arrives at her dorm earlier thanks to her best friend Zoe who arranged for this to happen. Her idea was to leave early so she can get a job and collect money and now her friend arrives in 5 days. Again, a little off with the timeline. Realistically how much can you save for 5 days?

3. This is a personal preference but I don’t like calling my Friends wh*re / bîtch even if I’m joking BUT I know some Friends talk like this in real life.
4. The formatting of the book was a little weird ( the letters were pretty big making the book look longer than it was).
5. The dialog was childish at times. Certain phrases like “you look delicious “ were pretty repetitive and 90% of the conversations was all the characters just complimenting each other.
6. By chapter 18 i still had no idea there would be any shapeshifters. That’s 40% into the book. ( maybe i lack some patience)
7. Tbh based on their behaviour and way of expressing themselves I’d never tell they study in Harvard. Not much was mentioned regarding the studying anyways.
8. Didn’t get to know Tanner much until half the book in because of the lack of real dialog mentioned above.
9. The second part of the book was more enjoyable with longer dialogs and more action, secrets being revealed etc.

I’ll just sum up now :
More than halfway through i wasn’t sure what the plot was: Alexis sleeps, goes to work, boring day, on the sofa with her roommates, sex with her bf ( plus minus short conversations. Chapters were a little repetitive , not much of anything was happening. Second part of it picked up but I was skipping a little bit through it at this point. There definitely was some action towards the end and I guess for beginners in this genre ( & shape shifting) it would be a good start.

With all that being said :
It’s a 3 ⭐️ for me :)
I did see the potential in the story and best of luck in future books .

4/5⭐️

I received an ARC copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

First off I have to say the cover to this book is gorgeous! 😍😍😍

This is a shifter romance, but you don’t see much shifter action until around 40-50% of the book, it’s definitely slow burn in the fact of brining shifters into the book, which I didn’t mind.

I loved Lexi’s character, her growth throughout the book and the friendships she formed. She’s strong and independent, smart and has a big heart.

Tanner I feel like he did a 180 for me in the book, when we first met him I thought he was gonna be an Alphahole (which we love) but he ended by being a cinnamon role (which again we love).

They have great chemistry, the spice was great, I give it a 1.5-2/5 🌶

One thing I will say is that it was definitely a little jumpy with the time move ups and in the first half of the book it was a little bit repetitive but it definitely picks up in the second half of the book and I was hooked.

It does end on a cliffhanger and omg the cliffhanger! 😱 I honestly was shook (in the best way) and I can’t wait for book 2 to come out! I have so many questions I need answers to and I’ll say it again the ending I kept trying to click onto the next page because I NEED to know what happens next 😂😂

I definitely recommend this book! Do check out the trigger warnings before reading. But I definitely think this is a good read especially if you are just getting into shifter romances.

I need the next book like yesterday!
This is one novel that I literally couldn't put down. If I wasn't forced by my body to eat and pee... I wouldn't have!

The ending was a perfect cliffhanger that had my mouth on the floor, the characters were easy to love, and the MMC - what a gentleman!
4/5 stars as I thought at times the world building and scene description could have had some more attention, and for the first half I knew where the story was going (like most beginnings to werewolves novels). It would have been a welcome change to see it head in a different direction.

I was lucky to Beta Read this book for Rebecca Pratt and I honestly really enjoyed it.
In a world where nothing is as it seems, Alexis discovers that everything she thought she knew about her life is in fact a lie.
Growing up with parents who never cared for her and then a boyfriend who shatters her heart, Alexis has spent most of her life learning to take care of her self. She doesn’t want or need anyone help.
Then she meets Tanner. He’s charming and charismatic and Lexi finds her self constantly drawn to him. Their chemistry is undeniable. But as she falls more inlove , she also finds herself thrust into a world she never could have imagined existed.
Not only that, but it seems like everyone she has ever loved, has lied to her. How do you survive when you don’t know who to trust or turn to anymore?
Alexis must learn to trust her own instincts as she discovers true love, who she really is and what being part of a family actually means.
This book does a great job of explaining the dynamics of shifter life and how being a wolf works. If you’re new to the genre, this is definitely a good place to start.
The beginning is slow burn but it does lead to some really good spice :)
The side characters are all amazing with their quirky personalities. I loved them all, especially Rachel.
And then that ending left me going OMG. I honestly can’t wait for book 2 already.

Tropes - Shifter Romance, Fated Mates, Found Family, Touch Her & Die, Secrets & Lies PLUS a SHOCK ENDING!!!

Oh. My. God.
I devoured this book in a day. Did I neglect my family and make them fend for themselves? Yes. Do I regret it? Hell no!

This book has a great background on Alexis and why she is the way she is. That was an enjoyable part of the story, and then everything changes.. then BANG - betrayal, found family, revenge, love in many forms!

This book had me on an emotional roller coaster and I am not so patiently waiting for book 2 after one hell of an ending!

The book was ... okay. It read like a wattpad werewolf book which I do enjoy but the first half of the book went on way to long with nothing happening and the last half could have been explored so much better.
Everything that happened was resolved quickly and without much consequences.
Also it was a lot of telling not showing.

The book had an interesting premise but ultimately didn't live up to it.

Overall though I liked it!

3.5⭐️ Once I finished this book, I really appreciated all the plot elements. It took a little while for me to get there though. I really loved the dynamics between the main characters, every scene when it was just those two I felt was perfection. Their interactions were just beautiful. Their devotion, respect and love for each other was just powerful. You could feel it at times it was amazing!
That cliffhanger though. Oh my god what are you doing? Rebecca like seriously you can’t leave us hanging like this when is the next book out? Because I need to know what happens!

There were a few elements of the book that I found challenging. The first 30% of this book felt a bit fragmented for me. Timelines a bit disjointed and I felt there might have been a more streamlined way to present the FMC, her tragic backstory and side piece characters.
I felt as though there was a lot of emphasis on her physical appearance too which kind of irked me. This coupled with her choice of profession didn’t really make sense to me. I’m not too sure as some of the dialogue and his response to it felt quite shaming which wasn’t for me.

Overall though I liked it, the second half of the book was laden with excitement and adventure and I’m excited to see what happens in book 2!

Divine Love ( out of 5)
Rating - 4.5 ⭐️
Spice- 3.5 🌶️

Okay first off that ending… was exactly everything I wanted. If the next book is filled with morally grey tension I’m going to eat it up..

Rebecca’s writing has come along so amazingly well just like I suspected it would after her debut novel. There were a few phrases I absolutely loved like “a pickle down a window” 😂 which made this so fun and enjoyable!

The reason this book lost half a star was due to the repetitiveness though a lot of the book Alexis went to work, showered, saw friends and went to school. Though we didn’t learn much about her classes or future goals. I would also have liked to see more hints about wolves before it was explained to Alexis… more weird encounters or aggressive mate moments. Also the pet names… it’s not for me 😂 it is for others but made me cringe.

I wish the development of her character from stripper to wolf was a bit more in depth. But I absolutely loved Alexis. Also the playful Rachel….she was a lot of fun and showed the “pack love” without giving too much away.

All up it was an extremely enjoyable read and I’m super excited to see what is to come in book 2 💕🐺

There are so many boxes being ticked in this book I'm not even sure where to start. A strong fmc who becomes sure of herself ✔️ A swoon worthy mc who we all wish we could manifest and pull out of the book ✔️ Best friends and side characters who feel like you know them and they mean something to you too , not just words on a page ✔️ This book honestly turned out better than I expected. And though I did see the ending coming, I am still bouncing off the walls waiting for the next one because I just need to know what happens damn it!!! The only reason it's not a 5 star is because I felt like the story didn't progress fast enough, and when it did, it all happened at once with no time in-between. And although it does makes sense when reading why it happened so quickly, it's just not something I personally enjoy. But 100% worth reading if you enjoy paranormal shifter romances!

This book was captivating! The story is lovely with exciting twists and turns that I usually see coming in a book but surprised me this time. I love it! The love story between Alexis and Tanner is amazing. The way their pull to each other is described and written is beautifully done. I could feel it while reading. I also loved the way Alexis is determined to do things on her own but has the love and friendship of so many people is beautiful.

This book was ok. It felt nostalgic to me in the sense 17 year old me would’ve loved it. It gave me Twilight vibes for sure.
The writing style was very average and somehow the story felt simultaneously too long and too short. The characters were under developed and the story felt rushed but also static at times
I will finish the series cus I did enjoy it for what it was and I hope the story is fleshed out more in the next two books. It was a simple fun read.

"Don't worry, baby girl. It's all going to be ok. I don't even care if they like you or not because I'm already in love with you."

Tanner, you are one delish ALPHA !

Secrets, character growth, mates, what more could you ask for in a shifter romance ? Maybe throw in found family, magic, and a twist ending that was jaw-dropping.

I can't wait to read, book two.
