They were mean and smart. They were clever and rich. They were the kings of deception. From the time of Western Pennsylvania's oil boom in the late eighteen hundreds. the men of the Barrows family controlled the movement of goods and supplies, and people along the Allegheny River Valley. Through rigged games of chance they took over leases and properties, and businesses. They maintained this illicit life during the Civil War, WWI, the Spanish Flu, Prohibition and the Great Depression. But future generations of the Barrows wanted to live a more respectful life style. They wanted to be successful leaders of the modern world. They were educated and civilized people. Then, some people with a history connected to their past began threaten their quiet well to do quiet existence.
