#8 in the Doc Adams series. This is the penultimate entry in a series of 9 intelligently written novels published between 1982 and 1998. Fans of the late mystery writer William G. Tapply may recall that he would frequently have his fly-fishing sleuth, Boston attorney Brady Coyne meet Doc Adams to go fishing. This is one of my most missed series.
Doc Adams buys an expensive lightship purse for his wife, Mary. She suspects the decoration on it is illegally traded ivory and winds up involved in an undercover investigation for the U.S Fish and Wildlife Service with an old friend of Doc's. When they both disappear, Doc and mercenary Roantis Laitis investigate.
