About the author

Prior was born in 1963 in Brisbane, Australia, where she also currently lives with her husband and daughter. Her first fiction book, 'The Amazing Adventures of Amabel', was published in 1990 and her internationally successful children's fantasy series, 'Lily Quench', has been published in more than twenty countries. Prior's work has been a finalist at the Children's Book Council of Australia Awards as well as being honoured and named as notable. Her work, 'Fireworks and Darkness', won the 2003 Davitt Awards for best young-adult novel and her work, 'Lily Quench and the Lighthouse of Skellig Mor' won the 2003 Aurealis Award for best children's short fiction. She has also been nominated for an Aurealis Award on three other occasions for best short fiction, long fiction and young-adult novel.

En bok för barn som gillar serien Ninja Kid.

Bråkdrakarna flyttar in är första delen i en planerad serie. Det kommer två nya medlemmar till Ava och Jacks familj. Och det är inte vilka medlemmar som helst, det är nämligen två drakar! Graun och Fafnine kommer från kläckeriet och ska få lära sig att bo med människor. Men det är inte så lätt för de båda drakarna är superbusiga. Det blir en hel massa upptåg med de två Bråkdrakarna.

Fun children’s book with dragons. My 5 year old loved it and we read it in two sittings. The illustrations were great and the text to illustration ratio works well for children who are just moving from picture books to longer stories. The story was cute and captivated my child.

This cute tale of dragon mischief was a fun, fast-paced read with lots of laugh out loud moments for my fantasy-loving 6 year old. The illustrations added to the humour and delight of the story. I'll be looking out for more by Natalie Jane Prior.

Lahké čítanie pre decká okolo 8 rokov.
Dcére sa páčila. Hlavným dôvodom bol svet, v ktorom sú draky súčasťou bežného života. V takom by chcela žiť. Ďalším plusom bolo, že to mala prečítané za dve hodiny. A samozrejme aj ten chaos, ktorý prítomnosť drakov vytváral

Mne naopak vadilo takmer všetko v tomto svete. Nič pre úzkostlivých rodičov: draky voľne podpaľovali stromy v záhradách, regály v obchoďákoch, kradli... všetko takmer bez akýchkoľvek následkov. Draci boli veľmi divoký, preto vlastne boli v rodine na prevýchovu. Na jednej strane to boli inteligentné tvory, na druhej sa k nim dospelí aj deti správali ako k idiotom. Časté paralely s tým, ako sa dospelí chovajú k deťom boli, mierne povedané, čudné.
Dávam 2 hviezdičky (slovne "it was ok"), lebo chápem, prečo to dcéru bavilo. Ale napríklad v jej obľúbenej dračej ságe o Škiťákovi je to tiež s drakmi v domácnosti ťažké. Ale Cressida Cowell vie aj nechápavých rodičov, zákerných záporákov, dračí chaos a bitky aj kopec vtipných situácií napísať tak nejak... ľudsky prívetivo.

A fun little story about two naughty dragons on a trial with their host family. They get into all sorts of mischief along the way. I feel that children would quite like this story for the fantastical elements as well as the naughtiness. I love the cover art as well as all the illustrations throughout. The way the words are used to show actions is genius too.

This was cute, and I enjoyed reading chapter each night with the kiddo, but it was a bit scary for a 5yo, whoops. I don’t think the premise quite worked, but it was fun.
