Christopher Pike is the pseudonym of Kevin McFadden. He is a bestselling author of young adult and children's fiction who specializes in the thriller genre.

McFadden was born in New York but grew up in California where he stills lives in today. A college drop-out, he did factory work, painted houses and programmed computers before becoming a recognized author. Initially unsuccessful when he set out to write science fiction and adult mystery, it was not until his work caught the attention of an editor who suggested he write a teen thriller that he became a hit. The result was Slumber Party (1985), a book about a group of teenagers who run into bizarre and violent events during a ski weekend. After that he wrote Weekend and Chain Letter. All three books went on to become bestsellers.

Evil Thirst is the fifth book in The Last Vampire series by Christopher Pike. After the intriguing developments in the previous instalment, Alisa/Sita has to track down her daughter, Kalika, who has disappeared. Kalika is so powerful, more so than her mother, and has an insatiable thirst for blood. Alisa wants to believe her daughter has some redeemable qualities and is in two minds about eliminating her. She would love to ‘save’ her- but to do so she wouldn’t just be risking her own life- but the lives of everyone else in the world too. What does she decide?

Creatures of Forever is the sixth book in The Last Vampire series by Christopher Pike. Well… this story certainly took a turn I didn’t expect. The last couple of instalments lead up to this conclusion to the series…. and picks up where the last book left off. In this story Alisa/Sita travels back in time to fix a wrong. There is such a lot at stake- failure is not an option. We follow along as the story unfolds, witnessing historical events as all the adventure unfolds. All the threads are tied up as the series concludes. Definitely a bit of a twist to the series.
As the story continues from one book to another through the whole six books, I really recommend reading the entire series, in sequence, so you have all the important information and continuing story threads- in order to fully understand and appreciate what’s happening. I don’t think any of them would read as well as a standalone.
These books have been in my bookcase ever since my daughter was a teenager, and I came across them again while rearranging my bookcases recently. I had read the first few books many years ago now, and couldn’t really remember them- and since I wanted to finish the series, I decided to read all 6 books back to back.
The book/series has quite an original premise, with interesting and somewhat quirky characters, and a well-crafted storyline. This has a fast, action-packed plot- which makes it quite a quick and easy read. There is some mystery, a little suspense, drama, some sci-fi elements, and plenty of intrigue.
So, if you love paranormal, fantasy, vampires, young adult stories, with action and adventure, then this is definitely the story/series for you!

I can't believe how annoyed I am with this series. The beginning of the first book was decent, but just halfway through everything went downhill. I will say one thing for sure: the main character for a 5000 year old vampire is rather stupid and naive. You would think, that after spending so much time in the world you would eventually learn, not to make same mistakes over and over again, right? Well, not in this case...

I first read this series when I was in primary school. It was one of my favourite books at the time. Upon reading it almost 20 years later, I’m surprised by how little it has aged. If anything, I can appreciate the subtleties that I could not as a child. The books are shorter than I’m now used to, with more grammatical mistakes in the print and I seem more sensitive to violence than I was as a child, but nonetheless a powerful story.

Evil Thirst

Kalika is one of my favourite characters in this series, I can never decide if I wish she had more page time or not... as it is she is for the most part viewed as the 'big bad' she's not that Sita cannot destroy. The main reason I like her though is for her character arc. I really like characters that you think are totally evil but then turn out to be good - Snape is the best example in the Harry Potter series but there are others and Kalika has one of the best arcs. Pike also does really well in the way he lets the reader into this, by dropping minor hints here and there - like Sita we wonder at Kalika's motivations.

The downside to this book s that it really reuses a plot point from Red Dice - the return of someone from Sita's far past. The same can be said in Creatures of Forever - it is almost as if Pike ran out of ideas for villains, or wished that Sita wasn't in fact the 'last vampire' so that she had something to fight against that wasn't human. It is a valid point, after the deaths of Eddie and Yaksha there can be no other vampires... I'm not too sure if aliens was the way to go though...

This story didn't live up to my memory it is a shame to say, though I will admit I love the ending. I now know that there are more books in the series but I am happy to finish the series here. I think over the course of the six books you see Sita grow up and learn so that by the end of this book it is believable that she, like Yaksha before her, no longer wants to live. I do feel sorry for Seymour, he wanted to be a vampire for so long and in the end gets to be one for such a short amount of time...

This is a bitter-sweet end to the series, on the one hand I am happy that Sita is back with Lalita and Rama but at the same time it is a shame what that means for Seymour considering how much he came to be a favoured character it is a pity that he reverts back to his status in this first book - dying of AIDs.

These books are definitely aimed at the young teens, I can look back on them fondly but would never bother picking them up as an 'adult'. It was nice to revisit them though, like old friends you haven't seen in years but when you do you realise just how much you have grown up.

When I bought the first three books in this series, I was sure I was going to love them. I was wrong! They were horrible books. Simple as that. The writing wasn’t very good and the characters were plain at best and boring at worst. There was no real emotion to this book.
Alisa is a horrible main character. She dark and cold and has no real conscience. She kills to protect herself and doesn’t care who is hurt as long as she is safe and not in any danger.
I couldn’t even bring myself to read this book after reading the first two. I skimmed this.
I was even shocked with the ending..... In the end we discover that Alisa never cured Seymour of his demise because she DOESN’T EVEN EXIST. She’s a character in his mind that he created to help deal with his impending demise. He writes about her tale, but has never lived it with her. Yes, fine. It’s a good twist. One that I doubt a lot of people would see coming. But what the hell!?! It’s just weird.

So horrible book, horrible series.
I don’t recommend. It’s not worth anyones valuable time.

Definitely one of my most favourite series. Evil Thirst (book five) and Creatures of Forever (book six) are a mess of action, secret societies, time travel, the ancient cultures of India and Egypt, sci-fi and horror all rolled into one. Christopher Pike has always been one of my cherished authors simply because we both share the same fascinations with the unknown. Ps - For those that don't know Sita's adventures don't end after book six. There are three more novels Pike recently released named: The Eternal Dawn (2010), The Shadow of Death (2011) and The Sacred Veil (2013).

I sort of liked it, it isnt my usual type of book and i bought them all thinking they were something they werent. The series had a spiritual feel that was nice to begin with but turned into sci fi which im dont usually like. I also found it hard to 'feel for' the main character, i cant describe why she just seemed like a robot. i did like the final ending though :)

As always, I have enjoyed reading this series. I liked the part when the author twisted the story towards the end of Evil Thirst. I cried a little because it was sad but it surprised me too. It seems like this series goes on FOREVER! but I enjoy it and I will be reading the rest of the books and more of Christopher Pike's books. He's definitely another of my favourite author.

Another great adventure with Sita & her friends n absolutely luved the introduction of her baby Kalika who isnt exactly all human n grows at a alarming rate n is more powerful than Sita.These novels will get u hooked n ule be hanging 2 c wat happens next.....Fabulous!!!
