That's What Friends Are For

Rate this book
Can best friends sleep together and still be friends in the morning?

A former high school cheerleader and a former high school nerd have grown up together and are now best friends. Ned is attracted to Fiona, but thinks she’ll always see him as just a big nerd. Fiona is attracted to Ned, but figures a brainiac like him would want an equally intelligent woman by his side.

So Fiona cooks up a plan that would get Ned a potential promotion at work and get her a job that she thinks will please Ned. In between the pretend relationship and the real one, sparks fly. When the truth Fiona has been hiding is revealed, will their friendship be strong enough to hold them together? Or will this be the end of the friendship that, according to their friends, should have never lasted this long in the first place?

A great story of friendship housing romantic love!

4.50 stars. The story of Ned Cholurski and Fiona Griffen was a quick and delightful read. The two had been BFs since high school: he was the nerd and she was the high school beauty assumed to be dumb, both hated those images of themselves and find relief and acceptance in their friendship. After graduating college, Fiona with a law degree but no job prospects was living with Ned who was working for and electronic corporation in a position that was beneath his skill set. Fiona laid out a plan where she and Ned could get him promoted and her a clerk job in a judges's office by pretending to be a loving couple which included having sex. Though their story had the expected outcome, where they acknowledged their love for each other and became real couple, there was also humor and a small twist regarding her career goals.
