Al-Kindi explicates numerous helpful propositions about cause and effect, Being, Intelligence, Soul, and Nature. My favorite propositions include: 1) the prime cause remains with the effect even if the secondary cause is removed, 2) separate substances are necessarily intelligent, 3) the effect pre-exists in the cause and the cause remains in the effect.
