If you still believe that the job of the British police is to prevent and solve crimes, this will put an end to such innocent, child-like delusions. Accounts of police brutality towards and torture of striking miners in the backs of police vans will make your hair curl and your blood boil.
I thought it was a really good book overall and I felt like I have learnt a lot about the picketing that took place and the brutality of the police during the picketing. I found the interviews from the picketers very interesting, and hearing about how the police had treated them with such abuse and violence. I also enjoyed reading the section about how the women were involved in the pickets, by running soup kitchens and having meetings and support groups, as well as even getting involved in the pickets themselves! Overall, I did enjoy the book and hearing the experiences of the picketers, however at some points I felt slightly overloaded with information and kept forgetting some of the abbreviations but I did feel as though I learnt a lot!
