A lovely book of prayer and meditations for our children by Marian Wright Edelman; Marian Wright Edelman is an American activist for the rights of children. She has been an advocate for disadvantaged Americans for her entire professional life and her words is as tender sweet as the morning dew said:

It is so important not to let ourselves off the hook or to become apathetic or cynical by telling ourselves that nothing works or makes a difference. Every day, light your small candle. The inaction and actions of many human beings over a long time contributed to the crises our children face, and it is the action and struggle of many human beings over time that will solve these crises with God’s help. So every day, light your small candle.

What a blessed gift of words spoken to a child and yes the child deep inside of each of us can be loved into grace again and again by the soothing words of such a book causing my heart to leap for joy of a song lost in my memory found again.

This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine,
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine,
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine
Hide it under a bushel, no!
I'm gonna let it shine
Hide it under a bushel, no!
I'm gonna let it shine,
Hide it under a bushel, no!
I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine,
Let it shine, let it shine
Don't let Satan blow it out
I'm gonna let it shine
Don't let Satan blow it out
I'm gonna let it shine
Don't let Satan blow it out
I'm gonna let it shine,
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine
Let it shine til Jesus comes
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine til Jesus comes
I'm gonna let it shine,
Let it shine til Jesus comes
I'm gonna let it shine
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine,
This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine,
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine

I try to read this at breakfast every morning. It reminds me of why I do what I do. It gives me the strength to do what I do, and it helps me know I'm not alone while I run this race. I love Marian Wright Edelman!

Back when I was religious, this book was an inspiration to me. My principal liked it so much when I gifted it to her that it is now her go-to gift book.
