Presents a version of the 1996 speech given at the Lincoln Memorial by the president and founder of the Children's Defense Fund urging people to "Stand for Children"
Marian Wright Edelman is an American activist for children's rights. She has been an advocate for disadvantaged Americans for her entire professional life. She is founder and president emerita of the Children's Defense Fund. She influenced leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Hillary Clinton.
The illustrations in this book are like patchwork pieces. The quilt works have pictures of children from all walks of life. This is a heartfelt story about protecting and nurturing our children to give them the best possible life, regardless of color, ability, race, etc. I think this book is more geared for teachers but displayed in a child’s picture book. In my opinion, this would be an excellent book to let the students know just how important each and every one of them is to me, as a teacher.
