Shrinkage

Rate this book
Is it in yet? It’s the phrase that no man ever wants to hear. Luckily, Tim Garrett has never heard those words. At least he has never heard them out loud despite being on the wrong side of the bell curve in the male endowment department.

It has taken many years, but Tim has finally come to terms with being slightly below average below the belt. His life isn’t bad, he doesn’t hate his job, his girlfriend Jill is hot and doesn’t seem to mind his physical attribute. Things are good. That is, until the day Jill dumps him and his world comes crashing down around him.

That’s when Tim decides to make some changes in his life; big changes. When a bizarre mixture of pills combined with a not-as-directed, inventive use of an electronic device prove incredibly successful, Tim’s life begins to change for the better both in and out of the bedroom. But when things grow a little too much, everything spins out of control and the words be careful what you wish for begin to take on an entirely new meaning.

SHRINKAGE is a somewhat raunchy and completely funny comedy, which is intended for contemporary mature audiences only. (Whatever the hell that means…)

I downloaded this book as it was free for a day on Amazon and after reading the synopsis i thought it might be a book that i would enjoy. Before i start to say what i thought of this book ill just say that it is not a book for the faint hearted, its a book about the age old male question, does size really matter?

This book is about Tim, a man who isnt as average as he would like, and after being dumped by a girlfriend because of it he takes matters into his own hands. Using a combination of pills and other methods he tries to improve himself. But will he get the results that he wants? and will it really make him happy.

I liked the plot to this book, it was very funny in parts and very rude too, but with a book with this subject matter i felt that it was justified. I also liked the little side plots particually with Tims parents and also with Rob. I also liked the sub plot with the houses on the street, i felt like this part of the book added a bit more normality to it.

I'm not sure if i was the intended target audience for this book, being a twenty two year old female, i did wonder if it was more aimed at the male gender, but in fairness i did enjoy the book. Its not one to leave on the coffee table when your nan is round, but at the same time i didnt find it overly crude. All in all a good book.

C'mon who can resist a book all about a man's penis?! I will admit I had no idea how this author was gonna pull off (hehehe) an entire book covering this particular topic, but I'm happy to report his effort is a laugh out loud success! I mean of course women are aware men obsess about their... attributes just as much as we do even though they'd rather die than admit it *LOL*. This author has provided a refreshing no macho bullshit (well except Rick the Dick), behind the gender lines look at the male pysche and their social interactions at large. It is clever, well-paced and carries a great message to boot. Are there any life altering revelations revealed or some let's say borderline cheesy things said, well yeah but duh the book is about MEN and their PENISES what'd'ya expect hahaha. Definitely pick this one up and give it a read the title alone should convince you to do so ;-)

I got what I paid for.

This book had its humorous moments (which you'd expect from the title) but really suffered from being overly misogynist, superficial, and predictable. It also could have used another round with a good editor. The women in this book are so one-dimensional and the men are so single-minded I got a headache from all the eyerolling I did reading it.

That said, it's a free book and it did have its humorous moments. This single effort won't keep me from reading more works by this author to see whether his later writings have elevated.

Seemed like such a short read, though looking back at the number of locations in the kindle file it's not all that short I just couldn't quit reading it. Yes the subject matter will be a bit off putting for some readers. If you are easily embarrassed or at all uncomfortable reading explicit sex scenes then don't bother with this one. There isn't really much in the way of sex scenes, but the book does focus on a guy's junk, and the hilarious crap he gets into because of his obsession with it. I found myself laughing out loud at several points throughout the book, and not just a little private giggle, but a full out laugh, which more than once forced me to tell my nieces and nephews that no uncle couldn't tell them what was so funny...

Who can resist a book with a title like Shrinkage? Then read the synopsis and you will be hooked! It's win-win for a light and humourous read. I loved reading a story for once about a man and his feelings of inadequacy, much like we women feel everyday. It is a very tongue-in-cheek book that handles the situation with lots of fun and laughter, something that we all need in the world today. I even talked to some of male friends about it and they wanted to read it, said Mr. Young shouldn't be revealing too many male secrets.
This is a very light, very adult read, fun to read with your man ladies, and watch him laugh and cringe!

This book had me laughing out loud so often that my husband, who was trying to sleep, started nudging me to be quiet. Granted, the theme of the book is not deep or philosophical, but if you're in the mood for something lighthearted and hilarious, this fits the bill. The main character is a hapless goober whose behavior sometimes borders on douchebaggery and gets him into a lot of trouble. Despite his immaturity, I found myself rooting for him and hoping he'd get a clue in time to salvage the few personal relationships he had left. All in all, I really enjoyed this read. I think it's the best of Luke Young's books to date.

Soooo funny! I had in mind the oh so funny Seinfeld episode when I saw the name of the book… so in that context, if it was a show more about George’s life and bad choices and on a pay cable channel with really raunchy comedian, then it totally fits!! It’s very adult humor, so be warned!! But there were a several parts that I just had to read out loud, between hysterical fits of laughter, to my husband who was also busting up! All in all it’s about coming to terms with who you are and finding great happiness there! A super funny way to get there I must say!!

The book was okay in a silly sort of way. Nothing deep, just a humorous book about a guy worried about his size. Mindless read. It was a $0.99 Kindle download and I thought of George on Seinfeld when I ordered it. If you want a silly read, this is the one for you. If it means anything, I bought his other book too, this one made me laugh. Escapism to me is bizarre humor, others use romance novels (ewwww)

Luke Young has a hit with this book. Tim Garrett has always been ashamed of his male member. At 26, out of shape, and starting to bald Tim is thinking he is ok because he has a had a steady girl for 9 whole months. After over hearing a hurtful conversation between his then girl Jill and a friend over the phone Tim starts an odyssey to try to make himself larger. Laugh out loud funny and hard to put down . This was an excellent way to spend the afternoon in the sun.

I downloaded this book cause it was free on Amazon and I thought it would be something different. I wasn't to sure about it at first but the further I read the more I enjoyed it. There were parts of the book where I could not stop laughing. The scenes were described well enough that I could actually picture it in my head, which made me laugh more. On another note though, knowing the insecurities that women go through it was nice to read a story that shows the side for the men.

(Oct) Funny, fun, and probably more realistic than most people would think. I'd assume more guys stress on their size than we women realize - we worry about body shape and size, boob size, etc. - why wouldn't guys worry about this key image of their manhood (at least in their mind it is!). Tim was really nebbishy, but still, there was some very funny lines and overall a charmingly harmless book.

This book by Luke Young is funny, fast, and enjoyable. The main character has first one problem and then a second, neither of which would most men like to have - though there may be a question about the second problem. Enjoyed reading it.

** I received a free copy of this book from Goodreads First Reads.

4.5 stars for "Shrinkage." This cute book had me laughing out loud over the main character, Tim, and his method for fixing inadequacy in the size department. His interactions with parents, co-workers and friends were hilarious. Very good writing and fun characters.

It was amusing that this was written from a guy's view point. It had me chuckling multiple times and reading things to my coworkers as I giggled. We all know someone who has this guy's issue in the beginning!!

Luke Young doesn't disappoint!

This book had me in tears it was so funny. I mean poor Tim and his non-average issue.

I never realized how much pressure we actually put on men....and I thought us women had it bad....boy was I wrong.

So thank you Luke Young for schooling me yet again!

Funny

I don’t like to give spoilers on the books that I read. I believe the blurb on the back is enough for you to decide if you will read the book or not. If you choose to read, enjoy!

Awful, unfunny book. It was like reading a rejected screenplay for a Hollywood comedy. If you like a million penis jokes and complete predictability then this book is for you!
