This book wasn't my "cup of tea", but it was okay, just okay. It would have been better if it wasn't so "hood". I felt bad for Alicia/Joy, and a couple of the other women. What Alicia endured may have caused her inappropriate behavior in the story.

Honestly, I think the male characters in the book were just not good people. They were stereotypes...They didn't bring anything good to the storyline, in my opinion.... From what I read, they made men, the Black and Hispanic men look negative. I don't like that. I want to see them portrayed more positively. To be fair with my judgment on this book, I may try to read more from the author in the future. Hopefully, I will like the next book better.

I made it thru 10 pages before I said no way on this earth with I read this crap. I like black fiction, but this way to ghetto fabulous for me. They start out talking about @#% and @#($ and segue into me finding out that the female lead is a 34 yo grandmother with a grandson old enough to talk? Look, I understand this happens in real life but it's reading way to much like a stereotype for me to support this.

Seems like from reading this book this may have been Ed Mcnair's first rodeo...or not. The book didn't really grab me in the beginning but amazingly I kept reading and and I read on it became more interesting. Not a 5 star but It's an ok 3. However I will say this... The Title truly fits the book!

From reading the back of the book, I thought this was a book about redemption. The girls was a hot mess from the beginning until the last page.
