Biographical and Professional Information

Joanne Kennedy's fascination with Wyoming’s unique blend of past and present leads her to write contemporary Western romances with traditional ranch settings. Her books include Cowboy Trouble, Cowboy Fever, and 2011 RITA nominee One Fine Cowboy. Her next book, Tall, Dark & Cowboy, will be released in November 2011. Two more contemporary western romances will be released in 2012.

At various times, Joanne dabbled in horse training, chicken farming, and bridezilla wrangling at a department store wedding registry. Themes that have remained constant throughout her life are Jack Russell terriers, a tendency to confuse fiction with real life, and a fascination with literature that led to careers in bookselling and writing. She lives in Cheyenne, Wyoming with two dogs and a retired fighter pilot. The dogs are relatively well-behaved.

Book lessons:
1. If your dad was an abuser, it is guaranteed the son will be one too.
2. If you like pickles, you must be pregnant!
3. If you like ice cream, you must be pregnant!
4. An adult MUST let a parent dictate to them who they may or may not date.
5. Those from the East that are visiting the West, are IDIOTS and must not be portrayed in any positive light.
One thing I did really like in this book was the therapeutic riding program for those with disabilities.

I’m glad I decided to give Joanne Kennedy a second-chance read. While I enjoyed some things about Cowboy Trouble, the first book of hers I read, there were others that didn’t work for me. But this time around, she’s given readers a nice story through and through with only slight blips. There’s more emotion in this book that gives the hero and heroine more depth.

Jodie Brand (not Bryce as it says in the summary), in a fit of guilt, has come home to help her mother in her western boutique. She’s left her rodeo queen days behind her and is also going to open a therapy riding clinic for handicapped children. Of course, as soon as she hits town, gossip begins and then she comes face to face with Teague Treadwell, her old crush from their school days. Teague was the town bad boy, and though he’s tried to gussy himself up, he still exudes that badass aura that the women go for, even Jodie herself. Surviving the first meeting with him, she goes on her way to get things up and running at the old homestead. All with Teague on her mind.

He’s tried so hard to live past his reputation he inherited from his father, but folks still look at Teague as the boy with a temper from the wrong side of the tracks. He’s taken care of Troy, his older Down’s Syndrome brother, since their parents died, he’s built them a new home to leave behind the memories of beatings that occurred in their mobile home, all with eye toward bettering himself for the day Jodie returns. When she finally blows into his life again, he hopes she sees the new man he is now and that that will make a difference to her to perhaps pick up where they left off years before. But when he remembers how he pushed her away, Teague isn’t so sure Jodie has forgiven him, even though his rebuff was for her own good.

I like both of these characters. They were friends before their one-night stand years ago, and I like that their new relationship is not terribly awkward when they’re together now. It doesn’t take long before they hit the sheets again, and this time it’s a man and a woman loving each other instead of the boy and girl they used to be. Which also means they do talk things out instead of letting things come between them. Well, most things anyway. There’s the usual jealousy issues that each think about but don’t voice until it’s nearly too late. It’s Troy who is the common denominator and brings them together. And I love Troy. He’s as sweet as can be, a man in a child’s body wanting to be on his own, do things on his own without little brother hovering anymore. He’s a wonderful character.

One thing I don’t like is how Jodie doubts Teague throughout the book. When she finally tells him she does trust him and believes in him, she’s known that all along but lets fear and doubt rule her, even after they make love a few times. This happens too often in romance and I’m just tired of reading it. I realize we want our heroes to be kind and generous whenever possible, but Teague takes this to a new level when it comes to Courtney, a newcomer to town who’s decided she wants the cowboy and will have him. The woman is a nuisance and I wanted to shake the man when he’s nice to her one too many times after her many shenanigans. The mystery surrounding a neighbor’s death gets a little convoluted, but for all intents and purposes, it works despite all the elements involved.

Overall, characters and storyline are much better than the previous book. We’re not thrown off on a tangent, given ideas that don’t work with the entire story. And at first I thought the books are related in some way since the covers are similar, including One Fine Cowboy, the release just before CF. Usually when you see covers this similar, it’s a series or trilogy or they’re at least in some way related, but these books are all different characters with no relation whatsoever. I’m a series hound, so I would have picked them up based on the covers alone and would have been sorely disappointed. Yeah, okay, read the back cover. I know, but sometimes you get a tad excited when discovering a new series, and considering these are cowboys, I know I would have purchased and asked questions later.

But all that aside, with this book Ms. Kennedy has upped my entertainment level and I’ll definitely try more of her future reads.

Jodi Brand is your typical beauty queen from a small town, the girl who use to be able to rough it out with the boys but then suddenly the beauty bug hit and her modeling career took off. So she leaves her home town ready to take on the world and never look back.

Only things change and it is not long before we find Jodi back in town running into no one else than her childhood friend Teague Treadwell. Teague is sexy and oh so very temping and yes in this book things move fast really fast. On her first day back in town Jodi and Teague end up in bed, the passion and fire between them more intense than the hottest of fires!

But Teague has a past, an abusive and drunken father, the type of man Teague swore he would never become no matter what. He has his own deep demons to fight; on more than one occasion he has had the urge to put his fist through someone's head and struggled to control the anger. Along with this, he also never believed he would ever be good for the one girl who stole his heart so long ago and who was now in his bed, so what difference has a few years made none in his mind he will never be good enough.

For Jodi things are not so very different she also has a obstacle on the road to Teague's heart, her mother has made her swear that she will stay away from him for he is sure to turn out to be just like his father and she does not want that for her daughter. No Jodi deserves better than the bad boy next door.

This book had it all for me, it had forbidden romance, passion, love, friendship, secrets and delicious love scenes all wrapped up into one action packed western romance! There is not one dull moment in this one!!

We see both Teague and Jodi meet and face their demons and obstacles, and I loved seeing how their "unwanted" relationship unfolded. It also sent across an important message that the famous line of "the apple does not fall far from the tree" is not always true.

Cowboy Fever is the second book from this very fine author who's books are a true treasure to find, her cowboys have a way of creeping into your heart and remaining on your mind for a long time.

This book breaks all the romance novel rules and that's a good thing! I really enjoyed reading a book where a main character has my little brother's name - an experience I've never had before.

I really enjoyed this book Joanne Kennedy. This book is about two friends who grew up together. Teague Treadwell was a Cowboy from the wrong side of the track, he grew up with his older brother Troy who has Downs Syndrome. Teague always looked out for his brother because both his parents were dysfunctional. Their father was abusive alcoholic, and their mother just couldn't handle things.

Jodi Brand growing up won Miss Rodeo America title which led her to a modeling contract and a scholarship to College. So she left the small town to fulfil her obligations. She always loved Teague and their one night together before she left her didn't turn out as she planned. Teague new that if he didn't act like their night was no big deal Jodi wouldn't leave.

So he hurt her, and Jodi left and didn't look back for over 5 years. Now's she back in her hometown and she plans to get a little revenge on Teague. However, Teague is not the same person she left. Teague has made something of his life. He now owns the ranch, and is breeding rodeo stock.

Ms. Kennedy deals with how people treat people with disabilities because they different. I love this the most about the book. Troy may have Downs Syndrome, however he is so intelligent. People can be so small when it comes to people with handicaps. I think anybody that reads this book is going to love these characters as much as I did. I cried with them when they hurt. I really recommend this book to read.

I really enjoyed the twists and turns of this cowboy romance book. When Jodi Brand came home after being Miss Rodeo America and after getting her degree in Psychology, no one could believe she left everything to come back even though she told them she would come home. She came home to the ranch her father had left her, she came back to connect again with her Mom and she came back because things were not finished between her and Teague Treadwell. Great story with an interesting ending.

Life has been rough these last few weeks, and I took a hiatus from my ridiculous reading habit. But what better way to get back into the swing of things with a good ole cowboy romance. I picked this one up thinking it would be the average cowboy romance, but was pleasantly surprised with the mystery/crime element that developed.

A Cowboy romance set in Wyoming … count me in!!! This one had more twists and turns than I expected but it kept me thoroughly entertained and questioning what might happen for Jodi and Teague. The other characters gave this book an extra boost, especially Teague’s older brother Troy who has Downs Syndrome.

Setting: Purvis, Wyoming – ranches – one for raising rodeo horses and bulls, the other for a therapy riding clinic for challenged children

Theme: going home, change, making amends

Characters:
Jodi Brand – grew up with Teague – loved ranch living, but in high school set her sights on Rodeo Queen, and duded up, and ignored her attraction to Teague. She left to be a model for Wranglers for a year, then 4 years at school to be a therapist. She’s gone home to make amends with her mother, and to see if her dreams of Teague live up to the man.

Teague Treadwell – abusive father, lived in a trailer, growing up he would fight at the drop of a hat, went to a detention school for a year, but when parents died, he knew he had care of Troy so he shaped up. When Jodi came to him the night before she was leaving to go east, and they made love, he sent her away with cruel words when she offered to stay to be with him… he wanted her to have her dream and a better life. And for 5 years, as he built himself up to be a good citizen, to be there for Troy, he did so with Jodi in mind… in case she ever came home.

Troy Treadwell – Teague’s older brother, with Down’s Syndrome… loved by both Jodi and Teague. He wants some independence and responsibility, and Jodi gives him a job as her assistant.

Courtney Skelton – one disturbed young lady… her father bought a big ranch north of town, and wants to attract polo playing families and the like. She is fixated on Teague, and Teague is at a loss as to how to handle her, he doesn’t want to be cruel, but doesn’t want to encourage her.

Summary:
Teague and Jodi – lots of baggage… but they can’t deny the attraction, and when drawn together, bit by bit, their softer more vulnerable sides come forth… until he is helping her with her clients, and they’re sharing their fears, and then their love… ahhh

Courtney keeps showing up like a bad penny – she tries to help Jodi, but leaves a child with the horse while she touches up her makeup. Her father, needing inflation money, burns down his own barn with 3 polo ponies inside and with fake bills of sale showing them to be worth more than they are… but also kills Courtney’s horse… in a fit, with Teague and Jodi obviously involved and knowing her father was overdrawn and her lifestyle threatened, Courtney first gives evidence to Teague and Jodi of his wrong doing, lies about taking it to the sheriff, kills her father – making it look like suicide… tearfully wants her music box, so Teague retrieves it for her – and accidently finds suicide notes that Courtney wrote… seeing her craziness, he tries to calm her, get her confession, get her to do the right thing… but she lets loose his bull and his bucking horse… Teague knocked out, Jodi gets there in a knick of time and saves the day.

Memorable scenes:
Teague brings over an old horse that he grew up with for Jodi’s clients… with an ornery goat… and they playfully work together to capture and tie the goat – and then Teague knocked down on Jodi – and you know where that leads.

Tory wanting his own money, to buy his own things. And Tory helping to guide an autistic child in the brushing down of the horse.

Jodi’s apologies to her mother – for shutting her out after her father’s accident that paralyzed him, and then when died… she blamed mom for not wanting the ranch the way dad did and froze her out…

Cowboy Fever by Joanne Kennedy
Contemporary Western –April 1st, 2011
4 ½ stars

Western romances are not my favorite genre to read but I was surprised how quickly and easily I become immersed in this bright and original story. The best thing about this book is the depth in each of the main characters and how genuine their love felt.

Cowboy Fever is the story about Jodi Brand. Jodi used to be a tomboy but gave it up to pursue a brighter future. She changes her image and transformed herself into the home town beauty queen. Then used her money to move to the big city and get an education. However, life in the city has changed her. As the local beauty queen she was judged on her looks. In the city, she got rid of the make-up and let herself be ‘normal’ again. At college she was admired for her brains and she liked that feeling.

When her father dies, Jody returns to help her mother and take care of their old place. She wants to use her degree in special education to help challenged youngsters while riding horses. However, the town isn’t ready for this more natural and real looking Jody, they want their made-up ‘queen’ instead. However, there is one person who likes the old tomboy Jody. Teague Treadwell knew Jodi when she was a tomboy and they were young playmates and friends. When she started ‘doll-ing’ herself up she let their friendship wane. And he misses that Jody. Now that she has come back he is determined to pursue her.

Jody always cared for Teague and was very attracted to him but as the local bad boy she had to cut him from her life if she wanted to get the scholarship that came with the beauty queen title. But now that she is back the old flames return between them. But can she forgive him their last parting?

This a fresh and entertaining read. I really enjoyed Jody’s character in particular. She wants to be herself and not the made up beauty queen. I liked her caring nature and how she got involved with special education because she loved Teague’s older brother who has Down’s syndrome. This book really brings up issues about people who are challenged but in a sympathetic not preachy way that made me admire Teague and Jody. My only quibble is that there is also a subplot concerning a girl who wants Teague but I found it distracted me from the two main characters. But the rest of the book is a pure joy to read. Teague has loved Jody from childhood. I particularly enjoyed reading how much Teague cares for Jody and wants her to care for him just a much. He never had real stability or much affection in his life and this made their relationship very touching. Especially since Teague was poor and came from an abusive family. In many ways Teague it less sure of himself than Jody and reading their insecurities and eventual love was very poignant.

What I liked best about this story is that the main characters felt like real people who had a past and were meant to be together. This western is rare find, with two main characters that will quickly charm you.

This is a sweet, contemporary romance that's a quick and easy read. Girl next door and former tomboy Jodie shed her image years ago, leaving the small town she grew up in to become a rodeo queen.

But things change and Jodie has returned home, glad to leave the make up and glitz behind she has a vision to transform her deceased father's ranch into a riding centre for people with disabilities. In all the years she's been away she has never forgotten bad boy next door Teague.

Teague has always been a little bit in love with Jodie, but things have changed. He's cleaned up his image and become a successful businessman and ranch owner in the years since she's been away. Yet, despite everything a part of him still doesn't think he's good enough for her.

There were some things that really worked in this story and some other bits not so. Teague cares for his older brother with Downs Syndrome, which gives him the complex role of brother, parent and carer. This part of the story was well written, interesting and added a rich layer to Teague's characterisation. Jodie has trouble shedding her glitzy, rodeo queen image and reinvent herself and get her new career taken seriously. As a consequence, she shows grit and determination as well as compassion.

Then there's the not so good. There is an odd sub plot about Courtney a wealthy, young woman who for some inexplicable reason desperately wants to be with Teague and won't leave him alone. It gets complicated with the role of her rich, magnate father, some polo players and a nasty arson plot which all got a little bit strange to be honest. I actually think the story might have been better without it included.

VERDICT:

While this was an enjoyable story, it missed the spark of a brilliant story. The plot was a little muddled at times and distracted from the central love story, which meant I didn't always fully engage with the main characters.

I did however, very much enjoy the background of Teague's Downs Syndrome brother and Jodie's role setting up her ranch as a disabled riding centre, and when the love story worked it was both sexy and tender.

In most ways, this book definitely delivers what is promises. This is a hot and heavy cowboy romance--my first ever. I loved the main characters, Teague and Jodi, and I appreciated the way the author dealt with Teague's brother, Troy, who has Down's Syndrome. In addition to this, the author throws in a little mystery and a lot of steamy sex scenes. For the majority of romance readers, this is a feast for the eyes and the imagination.

For the first half of the book, I was pretty impressed. There was very little detail in the bedroom scenes, and the language used in the book was fairly mild. The author had an easy-to-read style, and I genuinely cared about what happened to the characters. Jodi seemed to want to please everyone else rather than living her life, and I was glad to see how the author showed the true growth and maturity in the character. It was also nice to see Teague beat the odds. And as for Troy, I am always glad to see people with disabilities accomplishing so much.

I decided to give this book three stars for two reasons. First of all, while I can't fault the story too much, it is just a basic romance. The addition of suspense and mystery probably would bump the rating up to a 3.5, but it is still what it is--a cowboy romance. Secondly, as I approached the second half, I found myself skimming the rather descriptive bedroom scenes. I do not mind some description, and thankfully the author did not go into the kind of detail that usually causes me to put it down, but I wish that the characters had not gotten so hot and heavy over and over again with no thought of marriage in sight. But that is just me. I was glad that some foul language was avoided, but the increasing use of the "s" word amongst others got old pretty fast. I also did not find the character of Courtney very believable.

While this book may not have been high in my list, I still appreciated the author's style, and the story never failed to hold my interest. So depending on your individual tastes, this book may or may not be for you. I might hesitate to read another book by the author due to the issues I raised, but I cannot say I would refuse with certainty.

My thoughts:

I liked this one, it was sweet, it had a cowboy and a also a crazy westernbarbie cowboy lover to stir up trouble. Lol, I will tell you all about it.

Jodie was a normal tomboy who loved riding, but then she put on makeup, fancy clothes and became Miss Rodeo and did some modeling before going away to school. She left behind the town's bad boy, Teague. They had been friends since they were little but there had also always been something between them. So while she has been away he has tried to shed his bad boy persona and making some money, while she has cast of her Rodeo Queen ways. But when she comes back he still thinks she is too good for him.

I liked Jodie, she was so down to earth and all she wanted was to help kids with disabilities. She never saw herself as better than Teague who had been poor and lived in a trailer when young. Teague then, oh, hunky cowboy alert! All he wants is to take care of his brother, who has Down syndrome, and to build something and not end up like his dad, the wifebeater. And he has also always been in love with Jodie. All I ever wanted while reading was for these two to get that HEA.

So I mentioned a Barbie, oh yes, the annoying rich girl who dresses more like Western Hooker Barbie, and who is constantly following Teague around cos he is a cowboy and badboy. Her I just wanted to push into a ditch. So let's call her the bad guy of the story, the one that will cause drama.

There is romance, some hot passion, an annoying woman who does not understand the word no, and friendship. Later things will turn bad and we get a bit of suspense.

Conclusion:

I liked it, I read it just like that because it was all sweet and quick to read. A good western with a likeable couple. I would recommend it, and I would read more westerns by this author. Oh and did I mention the hunky cowboy ;)

Rodeo Queen Jodi Brand beat feet out of her small Wyoming hometown to grab her chance at college and hasn’t been back since. During the time she’s been away she’s done far more than get a college degree, she’s overcome her resentment against her mother and she is pretty sure she’s over Purvis bad-boy Teague Treadwell. Armed with her degree and her determination to open a horse therapy clinic for children with disabilities, she’s ready to head back home to the family ranch to make her dreams come true. But when Jodi get back to town, things are a little bit different, and it seems that maybe she isn’t over Teague, and perhaps there is some competition.

Last year, I discovered Joanne Kennedy and she quickly became a favorite author. While I did like Cowboy Fever overall, there were certain things that I really didn’t like which made the book… difficult. At least for the first half. When Jodi lets her mother try to dictate her life, even though she’s an adult, I got seriously pissed. Why should her mother tell her what she can and can’t do, especially when she (mom) is judging someone she really doesn’t even know. Letting herself be ifluenced by this made me dislike Jodi for a while, but like I said, things pick up after a while. Her mother admits she was wrong to make Jodi promise to stay away from someone. Plus there’s the new girl in town, who I strongly disliked the entire book and misjudged for being a daddy’s girl.

Regardless of what I didn’t like in Cowboy Fever, the relationship between Teague and Jodi is fun to follow. The two are great together. Lets also not forget Teague’s brother, Troy. He is definitely my favorite character from the book, especially with his love for ACDC. Bottom line, Cowboy Fever has some down points, but is full of great characters that make the book worth reading.

Cowboy Fever by Joanne Kennedy is a contemporary western romance.

Jodi Brand has come back to her small Wyoming hometown to start a therapy riding clinic. And who does she run into but Teague Treadwell, a guy that she was once friends with before their relationship ended on a bad note. Now, Teague is all grown up and looking better than ever, and he's become a successful rancher in the meantime. Jodi and Teague never really got over each other, and they soon resume their relationship. But things quickly take a turn for the worse when there's a fire on another ranch and Teague's brother becomes a suspect. When other strange things start happening, it looks like someone doesn't want Jodi and Teague to be together ...

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I'm a sucker for westerns. I liked a lot of things about this book, including the setting and the descriptions of the animals and ranch life. It was nice learning about how riding clinics like the one that Jodi starts can help folks. I also enjoyed Jodi and Teague's romance and how Teague is the one who's really unsure of himself, due to his abusive family history.

However, I didn't think that the suspense subplot of the fire really added all that much to the story. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like most of the contemporary western romances that I've read lately have had some sort of suspense plot in them. I wonder if it's a genre trend? Plus, there's a secondary character who is just not sympathetic at all. I know that this character isn't supposed to be sympathetic, but she came off as really grating and distracting.

Overall, though, if you're looking for westerns to read, consider giving this book a try.

Jodi has returned home to Wyoming and to bad boy Teague Treadwell.

Cowboy Fever doesn’t waste any time getting to the action. And I myself tend to like that. Jodi’s first day back in town after being gone for five years, she’s back in bed with Teague. After that, these two were dancing around each other a good portion of the book. It was obvious that they truly cared about each other, but outside factors kept them apart.

For Jodi, one of those factors was a promise she made to her mother that she would stay away from Teague. With Teague’s background of growing up with an abusive, drunk father, Jodi’s mother assumed Teague too would become abusive. For Teague, he never thought he was good enough for Jodi.

I liked Jodi’s character. You could see her struggle to do right by her mother or follow her heart to Teague. When she wasn’t dealing with that, she was a strong, independent cowgirl.

Teague too was a likeable character. Although at times I felt he was a little clueless when it came to Courtney, his shadow who believed herself in love with Teague. Courtney turned out to be a nice surprise.

Cowboy Fever had a great plot, although it was a little predictable in places. The whole situation with the arson, I seen who they would try to pin that on coming a mile away. Now Courtney, that one I didn’t see coming.

Overall I enjoyed Cowboy Fever. It offered a nice romance between the town sweetheart and resident bad boy. But beyond that, it offered suspense and mystery that I wasn’t expecting when I started this book, but greatly enjoyed. The entire town of Purvis was filled with well-written, likeable characters.

Once you start it, you can't put it down. Joanne Kennedy writes a very fun and catchy story that as a reader you easily get swept into. She plants seeds in your head in the beginning of the book and you could not wait to see how it plays out. Yes, she makes you wait until the last chapter to see how that seed she plants plays out. There were so interesting characters in this book. This is just an all around great book. The romance is very clean in this book, she is a shut the door kind of author.

Onto the two main characters in this book, Jodi and Teague. I always enjoy a story where it is two old flames from years ago who can not get past one another and end up in one another's life again. Teague is an all out cowboy and is still very interested in Jodi from the moment she comes back in town. Jodi is unsure, but finds that she is not able to fight what her heart truly wants. Of coarse, there is Courtney who likes to get in between them, since she wants Teague to be her boyfriend.

I think almost anyone who likes romance is going to like this book. As much as I read, it really takes a lot for a novel now to completely sweep me away and this one did so I strongly recommend this book. If anyone has been curious about the western romance genre, I think this book is excellent to get yourself started.

Jody Bryce has returned home. She has not been back since; she left to become Miss Rodeo Wyoming. Jody is famous. Though Jody wants to put her Miss Rodeo Wyoming days behind her and have a fresh start. Her main focus now is trying to get people to help her with her therapy riding horse clinic for children.

Teague Treadwell can remember the day that Jody left. Now here she is all grown up. Teague has noticed a change in Jody. She is no longer about looking beautiful all the time. Teague still has feelings for Jody but will he make the first move?

While I am a sucker for a good cowboy book, I thought that this book was alright. Not to say that Jody and Teague weren’t god together, as they were. I just thought this book was more on the sweeter side and I was looking for a little more. The romance between Jody and Teague was drawn throughout the story until the last half of the book. Of course, this had something to do with Courtney draping herself all over Teague. I wanted Teague to have a bigger back bone and tell Courtney off sooner. I do plan to read author, Joanne Kennedy’s next cowboy book. I have read her prior novels and enjoyed them. Cowboy Fever did make my temperature rise!

I absolutely adored this novel! It had such a satisfying love story, lovable characters, some unexpected mystery and suspense, and some pretty steamy love scenes. Jodi is a former rodeo queen and has recently moved back to her hometown where she plans to start her own therapeutic clinic for the sick and disabled. On her first day back in town she runs into Teague, the town bad boy who has turned into a responsible, successful businessman and who is also her old flame. The feelings these two have for each other are undeniable and I loved how no matter how hard they tried, they just couldn't stay away from each other. Every time they came together on the page the air around them just seemed to crack and sizzle with electricity. I also really enjoyed the unexpected mystery/suspense that was thrown in towards the end of the novel. I really didn't see anything like that coming! This was such a great read. If you enjoy western romances (and even if you don't) I really suggest you check this one out:)

I've said it a few times but I'll say it again. I love cowboys and western romances! Probably one of my favorite romance books have cowboys in them. Joanne Kennedy is a master at her craft and Cowboy Fever was no exception.

Jody Bryce and Teague Treadwell basically grew up together. But with some make up and some fancy clothes, Jody becomes Miss Rodeo Wyoming and becomes famous. But when her father passes away, Jody decides to hang up the tiara and return to her hometown.

Teague stays behind and decides to make some money and he does a good job but he still hasn't lost that bad boy image. When Jody returns to town, he finds he still has feelings for her, but he knows she is way to good for a bad boy like him.

With Jody trying to get her horse therapy clinic open for children, and Teague still working on losing that image and to be someone that would be good enough for Jody, the sparks and spurs fly! The pages will fly by with this heart-felt romance of two very likable characters with a touch of spark and sass. Don't miss this one!

As a fan of this author, I had no problem diving into this story even though I am not a fan of western reads. They always seem to go overboard on the cowboy theme, but I have found that author Joanne Kennedy knows how to write her westerns.

It has romance, action and horses, but it also has characters that weren't over the top. Jodie was caring and never felt like she was too good for Teague. She wanted to help people even though she was a beautiful Rodeo Queen. Enter the sexy cowboy, Teague, who wants to take care of his brother that has down syndrome. Now we have a basis for a romance while keeping the reader engrossed in a story!

If you are looking for a sweeter western read, then this is it. It has romance that is beautiful, characters you love -- and one you will despise--with a plot that moves beautifully to an ending you will be cheering for. I actually think this is one of my favorites by this author so far.

All I have to say is WOW. I'm not a huge Country/Western book lover, more of a highlander fan, but I won this one and thought I'd give it a try! Boy am I glad I did! This is a very contemporary romance, it does have sex so if your looking for a super clean book this wont be for you. I absolutely loved this book, such a great story, packed with love, action and mystery. Couldn't put it down once I started, read almost all night.. well at least till I couldn't see straight , then had to finish up this morning. You will absolutely love these two characters. They are both so down to earth. They did fight their feelings for each other for a good part of the book, but it wasn't annoying to the point of where you wanted to kick the characters. This was a well written book that will definitely stay on my "keepers" shelf and I will be adding her other books to my to read pile! Highly recommend for those who love the bad boy cowboy!

Cowboy Fever is a fun ride! I loved the characters from the beginning. Jodi was the town golden girl and Miss Rodeo before she left for college and a modeling career. Now, she has returned back home to begin a equine therapy clinic and to mend her relationship with her mom. What she doesn’t expect is to still feel intense attraction to the town bad boy, Teague. I liked that there was an established relationship between the couple and that although it hadn’t ended well they hadn’t forgotten about each other. In fact, most of what they had accomplished was because of their past relationship. The chemistry between Jodi and Teague is amazing and I was rooting for them from the beginning. The book has some twists and turns that will keep the reader turning pages. Anyone who is a fan of contemporary romance with sexy cowboys and ex-rodeo queens will love this book!

The book girl gives COWBOY FEVER a 4/5
