After all, she's his boss and he lives with his girlfriend. But his "girlfriend" turns out to be his boyfriend, a gentle and beautiful supermodel. Resigned to a platonic friendship, she accepts a weekend invitation, but the men have far more passionate ideas. They want her to "be a part of them". Warn your lover before you read this book, that he/she will most likely be jumped after you complete this book. This book is a fast read with a tight story line. There are no great mysteries, except for the creepy Dr. Kovak. Ms. Lain sucks the reader in fast and furious into her three main characters, Emmaline, Jake and Roan. Roan does rhyme with moan and yes, moaning will commence when you read about Roan and how very delicious he can be. I'm getting wet, just thinking about the sex scenes in this book. This is a tasty erotic novel where two lovers, Jake and Roan, want to add Em to become a triad.

I loved the writing voice and I still can't get over the sex scenes. The scenes are not explicit or even that crazy. Between the endearing three characters and their obvious lust for each other, I can feel the heat and wish . . . that this could be me for a day!

Tara Lain's debut in erotic romance is well worth the read. After being drawn to this sexy cover several times, I downloaded the free sample chapter on the Kindle to remind myself that not only do I not like most romances with women involved, but this one also focuses heavily on her POV. That didn't work. From that brief sample, I was hooked.

When her research associate, Jake, corrects Em’s assumption about his girlfriend to tell her that his live-in lover is a guy, Em thinks that will dash her school-girl fantasies. Roan is charming and sweet, and flirting with her like she was a... boy. No, not a boy, because Roan and Jake both enjoy being with a woman on occasion.

Enough recapping. This is what happens when I get sucked into a story. I start rambling about the story and call it a review.

I've noticed in the few menage stories I've read that I often feel like someone is a third wheel, or that the original partnership needs fixing and they try to do so with experimentation. Neither situation a fun read. While Jake and Roan were together before mutually agreeing to seduce Em, it wasn't for a quick fix in their relationship, and it wasn't their first attempt at a menage.

This story had great chemistry between all three characters and the setting of working for a university put excellent tension on the potential for anything long term. The dialogue at times felt off, but otherwise I came away really enjoying the book.

I’m looking forward to Lain’s next book, a prequel about Jake and Roan. Yummy!

Warning spoiler: Don't read before you read the story.

I read The Scientist and the Supermodel first and then this one although I think this one came out first. I'm glad I did that because TSATS had a lot of back story on how Jake and Roan got together, and we get an idea of how Jake wanted Em to be a part of the picture right from the very beginning just like he and Jake told her.

But, I must say, I loved this one more than the first. I always felt like something was missing form TSATS, and after reading Genetic Attraction, I realize that it was Em! They were just meant to be. I totally understood the challenges and restrictions by being in a very conservative career and not living a a quite conservative lifestyle, so I really felt for all involved.

This is only my second read by Tara Lain after just discovering her in the last few months, but the woman can write a smokin' hot story.

I can't wait to move on to book 3!

Emmaline and Jake are two research scientists heading up an important cancer research study. Think Nobel Peace Prize level there has been sexual tension between them for a long time. Em notices Jake touching her a moment too long here and there and lives for those moments. Being professionals she dreams of being able to show more than a passing interest and revealing her love for him.

A weekend invitation to Jake's place in the countryside reveals another side of Jake Em didn't foresee. Jake has a lover, Roan. Jake is gay and loves Roan. Disappointment doesn't have time to set in when she figures out his plan for her. Roan and Jake both want to have a relationship with Em. What the hell, it's a long weekend, a little fun can't hurt.

Jake has been planning this moment, Roan and Em. The two people he loved most in the world. He and Roan had talked and dreamed about how it would go. It was better than either had imagined a menage. A photo is released that could cause serious damage to their reputation. Now Em, Jake and Roan have to decide. If this Menage is truly worth everything they have worked so hard for.

I enjoyed this book and now want to think a menage could work. These three characters were very hot and the book was well written. I enjoyed all of the dynamics in this relationship.

Genetic Attraction is a tantalizing tale full of drama and sexiness featuring a distinguished research scientist, her sexy assistant, and a gorgeous supermodel. In these modern times, some sexual preferences do not fit into standard sexual norms. Em knows that the ultra-conservative academic world where she conducts her research is not going to be accepting of the wonderful yet extraordinary relationship she's involved in. It takes her free-spirited mother and a supportive colleague to help her make the right decisions regarding matters of her heart. This story is well written with just the right amount of erotica and kinkiness to keep it stimulating throughout the entire read.

Warning, this book will cause the female reader to search for toys or a convenient male for sexual gratification. Ms. Lain created drool worthy men.

Ménage a trois with a sexy smart scientist and a molting hot model can definite cause a woman to stop thinking straight. Ms. Lain provided a buffet of delectable males to choose from. From the very beginning, her characters pull the reader into the life of academia. She reveals the narrow minded and petty politics which many people are unaware. This provides a perfect backdrop for the story’s dilemma. Enter the pompous Dr. Kovak whose hidden agenda is never quite revealed. Does he enjoy frightening people with his thinly veiled blackmail threats? There is no doubt Ms. Lain generates heat in her sex scenes. To be clear, the sex in this book is hot. Readers will devour every sex act and live vicariously through Emmaline, the lead female character. While it’s unrealistic for two sexy men to also be blessed with noteworthy equipment, a girl can still fantasize and enjoy the ride. The dynamic between the triad is realistic and endearing. Ultimately, the story’s question is - will Emmaline choose her career over the men?

Genetic Attraction is Tara Lain’s debut book, which I think is absolutely amazing. It’s so much more than just a m/m/f ménage – it’s a love story between three of the most real, delightful and lovable characters ever. It had me wanting, wishing so much to be one of their close friends, having a place in their lives and hearts. They have my heart.

Since reading The Scientist and the Supermodel, where we first meet Jake, the gorgeous scientist geek and Roan, the nicest and beyond beautiful male model and share their finding each other and Emmaline, Jake’s smart and beautiful boss, I was hooked. I needed to continue sharing their lives. I cared about their happiness and just wanted all three to have their HEA. And this story gives you that and so much more.

The plot is so fresh with enough tension to keep you glued to the pages. Characters are interesting and funny and are so well developed.

What I really loved was there were no dark and tortured people, hiding painful secrets and having to overcome some emotional and painful past before getting together. Yes, there are things in their lives that they have to deal with such as prejudice, how to overcome the set ideas the world has about their unusual lifestyle – but it’s handled in such a positive manner that you know they will get past all the hurdles placed in front of them and be happy together.

The love scenes are just mind-blowing. Graphic, sexy, beautiful and so so hot and so sizzling – you feel the chemistry between them, in and out of bed. I liked the fact that the story shows us the explosive chemistry in bed and out – doing everyday things together, like looking at antiques, going on Roan’s fashion shoot, dinners, attending an awards party and even the university’s dislikeable professor’s Halloween Party. Three people who love and care for each other just having a “normal” life.

This is an incredible, tender and passionate love story that reiterates that love is all it takes.

Now, hopefully I will continue meeting Jake, Roan and Em in the future…and please can we have a baby to add to their happiness???? Please. I can’t stop thinking about this family and would love to join them again.

Synopsis from Tara Lain’s Blog: In the erotic romance menage, Genetic Attraction, Emmaline Silvay, PhD, loves two things, her work as a genetic researcher for a major University, and her handsome young research partner, Dr. Jake Martin. While she's a huge success in genetics, her passion for Jake is secret because he's 11 years younger, works for her and just moved into a new house in Connecticut with his girlfriend who Em has never met. Then, at a late, after-work dinner, Em discovers that the lover she thinks is Jake's girlfriend is actually his boyfriend. When she goes to spend the weekend with this gay couple at their new home -- well, let’s just say that's when the fun, and the challenges begin.

This was a sweet (and steamy) continuation of the first one. In the first one, Jake was trying to come to terms with his bisexuality and his need for Roan. But he was in love with his boss, who was about ten years older than him, before he met Roan. And Roan has heard enough about Em, knows how much she means to Jake, and loves Jake enough that he builds Em a room in their new home before they even know whether Em is interested or not. A bit presumptuous, but very sweet on Roan's part.

So we're at the beginning of the second one, and Em is telling Jake he has to attend an awards function. She nominated him for an award that she's sure he'll get, and she tells him to bring his girlfriend, at which point Jake spills the beans that when he moved in with his "lover", that was a male lover. Now Em's dreams have been dashed because she thinks (as most people would) that Jake is gay and therefore off limits. After attending the function with both Jake and Roan, she accompanies them back to their Connecticut home and they get freaky busy. And that very first weekend, Jake asks Em to stay with them forever. A bit quick, sure, but Jake has loved her from afar for two years and now that he knows she's not going to freak and run, plus Roan is crazy about her (again, short period of time, but Roan seems to be a very open, giving person), he thinks it's perfect. Seemed a bit fast, but still sweet. The 'l' word is thrown around quite a bit that first weekend, too.

And then Jake gets mad at her for not being willing to throw caution to the wind and let her love for them overcome every obstacle. Hypocritical much? In the first one, he kept pushing Roan away at every chance, and for whatever reason (love I guess), Roan was always willing to take him back. Jake has very real issues with divulging his sexuality for two reasons: his career is in a very conservative environment, and they were sort of protecting Roan's celebrity. But Jake can't understand Em wanting to protect her own career that she worked so hard for? It seemed like he didn't really give her time to work through what had happened, much less making a life decision about it. It just seemed hypocritical for him not to remember the agony *he* went through but thinks it should be a no-brainer for her.

But beyond that, it was a very sweet story of Jake getting everything he wanted, lol. And Em and Roan didn't end up with the short end of the stick at all. Nope, not short at all. ;-)

A Whipped Cream 'BEST BOOK':

Torture, yes, it was torture reading this story! I lost sleep on this book.I started reading this story late at night and I could not put it down and go to bed so I got to see the sunrise before I got to the end. I knew when I saw the cover that I wanted it even before I read the excerpt.

The first thing that drew me in and stood out was the dialect, which gave a flare of modern day "real people" feeling to the story, and the characters just jumped out at me with their personality. From Roan with his 'I know I’m beautiful attitude' to Jake’s 'I made a mess of things'; and then there is Em who gets lost in her work and forgets about the world outside the lab. I would have liked to have seen more of a build up in the relationship between the Em and Roan before the first sex scene, just to add more depth to the plot. However, even without the build up it was still enjoyable because of the twist in the plot and the hippy life style that Em grew up in with free love and all. I thought is was endearing that Em wanted to talk to her mom about a ménage knowing that her mom was a free spirit from the sixties.

I love the book, between the dialect and the cute phrases I laughed so hard, I was afraid I would wake the hubby. So many clever and quick-witted remarks that just added to the overall story. I did have to put the book down for a minute and get on the computer to find out about the old Kinsey continuum of sexuality, just to see if I could find any input. This story was a wild ride and a lot of "hey what the hell"; I think it was a new and well plan plot, which is why I will be adding Tara Lain to my list of favorite authors. I definitely fell in love with her writing style and imagination. She had such a refreshing plot that will stay with me a long time and I think is well worth the money to add to your library.

*** Amazing series by Tara Lain, where love grows and grows ! ***
We met Scientist Jake, and Supermodel, Roan in the previous book, and here they plan to expand their loving into a trio.
Dr. Em is a redhead
with brown eyes and has power, intelligence, she's sexy, and trying to find a cure for cancer.
Roan - with green-eyes, blk/brn hair, masterpiece - a "feminine" beauty wrapped in a magnificent male body, is world famous.

Jake is a tall, golden blonde, blue eyed,

magnificent assistant in their research. He is in a partner relationship with Roan.

They guys invite Em for the weekend and their desires are shown, and accepted, temporarily. Em's leery of this succeeding. How can these three make it work, when their jobs forbid the publicity and scandal. The men are bi, but only for Em. Unique and lovable characters, an interesting plot, and scorching hot M/M F sex and ménage. Totally yummy !
I highly recommend this sexy read. ENJOY !!!
===================================
We get more of these three in the next tale, where Jake's brother finds his loves.
These sexy reads can "stand alone".

Though this was written first, it reads as though it was written in perfect chronological order. I love ménage stories and this one was emotional and hot and everything I could hope for. Everyone stays true to themselves and they fight for what they want and what they believe in. You will laugh and cry right along with them on their journey.

The guys have such a devotion to each other, but are so incredibly sweet in their desire to include Em, and Em’s got such an affection for them as a couple even without counting herself as a part of their relationship. It’s oh so satisfying to see Jake and Em finally experience what they’ve both been fantasizing about for two years since meeting and working together.

I think one of my favorite parts is the Halloween party they attend. However, while this story could be a standalone, I highly recommend reading book 1, The Scientist and the Supermodel, first so you’ll get some of the little references. I promise it’s worth it, they’re both awesome stories!

An excellent steamy read, Genetic Attraction brings two scientists together after two years of working side by side and fearing their age difference, with an added bonus of a well endowed and level headed supermodel all in one package. Ménage fans will not be disappointed!

Well my goodness, this is THE BEST book I've read in quite a while. It is your basic menage story.....but no where near your normal menage story! It's the story, the LOVE story of Jake, Emmaline and Roan. But more, it's the story of the love they each have for the other. I was hooked by the end of the first page, I didn't want it to end, I thought about it when I wasn't reading it and I tried to occupy myself with other things(like cleaning ;)) to delay reading because I didn't want it to end! And now that I've finished it....I keep thinking about it and will be re-reading it tonight! Even if you don't 'do' menages...you need to read this for the love you can feel coming off the pages! I so very much enjoyed this book!! Tara Lain did a spectacular job with the story and the development of the three characters. I look forward to reading the prequel, of Jake and Roan's love story and the next in the series of Jake's brother Caleb. Shoot.....I look forward to reading ANYTHING by this awesome writer and will be auto buying all her future works!! You need to get your hands on this truly WONDERFUL book!

*whiping the sweat off my brow*
Hot! Really. Really. HOT.
I don't read M/M, but these two are luring me over to the dark side!
Jake has been hot for Em, his older boss, since they met. But he found Roan, fell in love, and didn't think Em would be willing to be part of a permanant menage/polyamorous relationship. One thing leads to another and the opportunity arises for her to spend the weekend with them--- which leads to erotic dreams coming true. But as cancer researchers this isn't copacetic- jobs will be lost. He's all in. What's Em going to do?

Lot's of tension, suspense, the sex and chemistry is off the charts.

Supermodel Roan cooks for her. They treat her like a treasure and treat each other as tenderly too. This is that fantasy you have about your best guy friend whose gay and sadly off the charts sexy... (ok, was that only me?)

I couldn't wait for this book to be released, Tara had been posting excerpts and I knew I wanted it. I like the characters. I wanted to take Roan home with me but he's already taken by Em and Jake. What I liked best about this story is that Em was free to express what she felt to them so that they could understand where she was coming from. Jake was so explosive with his feelings for Roan and Em, I liked him from the get go. Roan, with his charm and good looks is a keeper. He just wanted Jake to be happy. I liked that they each had issues and they had to come together to solve them. I think Tara did a awesome job with this story!

Genetic Attraction is a fast-paced novel of burning passions. Many side characters add tension and laughter into the mix, but Tara manages them all well, leaving the story with a smooth feel. Em, Jack and Roan are easily distinguishable throughout in this story written from first-person perspective.

Emmaline is a scientist, focused intently on her work to the point of exhaustion. Within her, though, lives the heart of a true hippie, courtesy of her earth-loving mother. Em feels the pressure her position within the labs has over her, but is unsure how to deal with it. After a weekend and the loss of her heart, Em may just find the catalyst needed to break free of her gilded cage.

Jake is a man who feels things deeply. Impressions of him are strong, but first and foremost is his self-assuredness. His ability to act without thinking means things can get out of his control at times. Sometimes, this works. Other times, this is not so great. Jake, as a character, was the easiest for me to connect to. Because of this, I really got a feel for his emotions and the true regret he feels when his impulsiveness leads to bad results.

Fun, bright, bubbly and a hell of a cook when not engaged in the world of being a top male model, Roan is the third member of the group. But don't be fooled; this man has a heart of gold and a lack of ego to match. With feet firmly on the ground, it is up to Roan to take the steps necessary to bring all three of them out into the open.

Fast paced at times, Genetic Attraction was a good book to read. Tara writes details woven into characters’ dialogue and made me feel informed without being overwhelmed. A true sound of pages sizzling can be heard as these three come together. I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys ménages a trois, m/m/f, and stories with a modern day feel, written in a contemporary style. Nx

Interesting m/m/f, Started as a m/m relationship from the first book in the series with Roan and Jake. Jake has always had a crush on his boss, Em. After Jake and Roan get together in the first book, they even build a room with the idea that Em will be a part of their lives. It is insta attraction love with Em and Roan and there has always been lust/love with Jake and Em with neither one admitting it. One weekend they give in to the need and then the trouble starts. It all comes down to whether Em wants to live for her work or for her life of love. The book takes you through her struggles of whether or not life long journey is for research or love. It is a good book with an abrupt end, but kept me entertained until the end. Good series.

I did not think Jake and Roan’s story could get any better but Tara Lain pulled it off. With the introduction of Emmaline, the author opened the door to showing how true love isn’t always “Adam & Eve”, sometimes there’s even a “Roan”. There were many heart-warming moments and real life situations in this story that gave the characters a realistic feel and had you rooting for this couple of three. I look forward to reading more books by Tara Lain. She has such a wonderfully sensual way of presenting her “beautiful boys” and creating a story that you don't want to end.

Once again Tara Lain enters the world of the Scientist and the Supermodel Jake and Roan. Only this time she throws in the added love of Emmaline! The feelings from book 1 are still there, only hotter and stronger than ever before. The boys are secure in their love, for the most part, but when Dr. Em has her own doubts the men stand together and try to work to make their true happiness come true.

I fell in love with Jake and Roan in their book (especially mom!) and in this one I feel deeper in love. The scenes are hot and steamy and sweet and heart wrenching at the same time!

Absolutely LOVED the book and would definitely recommend it for a most excellent read!

ETA 9/12 I'm rereading this series for the Erotic Enchants 2012 Read It, Rate It, Review It Holiday Challenge and I hadn't read book 3/4 so I wanted to refresh my memory.

Jake and Roan have their stable twosome and are ready to pursue Emmaline to complete their threesome and it is hot, hot, hot. There are complications along the way as both Emmaline and Jake work for a university and the politics inherent in that atmosphere. This is my favorite read of the series.

This book picks up a while after the end of the The Scientist and The Supermodel. Jake and Roan have moved in together. Jake is still not telling the world that he is with a man but he's also not hiding it. Em has decided that since Jake has found love with his "girlfriend" that she will try to forget how much she loves him. Jake has other ideas. Every time they are together he makes a point of touching her.

Right off the top, this is a SUPER SPEED love story. Like, Hi, Nice to meet you, Oh no I'm naked, Yes I love you! Those types of stories are not my favorite. I get that Em is already in love with Jake before the book every begins. Got it. However, her speeding in to love with Roan is crazy fast. I like that the author made a point to tell part of Em's backstory to help explain why Em would even consider a menage arrangement.

Roan is a great character. He is beautiful, kind, smart and an all around great guy. I'd love to be his friend. Jake is smart but in some ways is less likable than Roan. At times Jake is moody and whiny. I forgive that because the author wanted an easy way to show tension between Jake and Em. Em is smart but out of touch with life outside of work.

In the end, I enjoyed the story. I thought the bad guy was over the top but he fit the story. I was glad that the three of them found a way to be together. I will read the next book in the series.

Just as with the first book of this series, I loved it for the most part. Beautiful people having super hot sex... what's not to like?!! LOL

First, this one picks up about a year after the end of book one. And even though Jake and Em are supposed to be so close, Jake still hasn't told her the "girlfriend" (Em's assumption) he's living with is actually a guy, let alone introduced them.
Em is at least more open minded, sexually speaking, than Jake was in the first book. But even so, she allows fear to dictate her actions. We have a character, Dr. Kovak, who for some unknown reason, has both Em and Jake trembling in fear of losing their place at the University. Both are highly respected, award winning scientists, doing very important cancer research. So I have a problem with how spineless she acts, caving in to Dr. Kovaks subtle threats, with barely a whimper. Especially in light of what we learn about her upbringing.

Fortunately, events conspire to show her the light, and her backbone snaps back into place just in time for the HEA!

When Emmaline accepts the offer to spend some time with Jake and Roan she never imagined anything but a nice relaxing visit with friends but to her surprise it turns into so much more. Once the three find that their relationship goes beyond friendship are they willing to fight for it or will they let it pass them by?

I enjoyed the way these three come together and it was nice to see the bonds grow and deepen between them. Jake and Roan love each other and now want to include Emmaline in that love. It was nice to see Emmaline fight for what she wanted and not give up. The three are good together in and out of the bedroom. Each person is strong and together they can face anything and anyone. The author does a nice job of giving the characters depth and the story emotion.

Solid 3.5 stars ⭐️!

I really enjoyed this one, but I wish it was longer and more fleshed out. I also wish the end wasn’t so rushed. Like she just kind of is like “jk, I want a poly relationship with you guys and I’ll quit my job to be with you” at the drop of a hat. Like, fine, but, huh?

The spicy scenes were real good too, maybe a little short though. Jake and Roan were very hot, especially Roan. Goddamn. My only problem with them is that they speak so old fashioned. They really be calling each other “my darling” like this book is only like 12 years old. Why y’all sound so British?

Anyways, good.

Genetic Attraction follows up on The Scientist and the Supermodel. Jake and Roan got together but Jake still longs for his boss Dr. Emmaline Silvay. She is older and despite being raised by a free spirited mother she’s never been the one to go against convention but if were Jake and Roan would be reason to. Can she defy convention and go for what her heart desires?
I really liked Em. She is smart, driven and brave. Jake and Roan are so good together. This is a sweet and sexy tale of learning and love.

I really enjoyed this and it was great seeing Jake and Roan again, their story was told in The Scientist and the Supermodel. Watching them enfold Emmaline into their relationship was so very hot. A very enjoyable read.
