★★★★★ “Perfect combination of romance, intrigue, suspense, action.”
When a Special Forces veteran is hired to protect a Malibu playgirl, sparks fly faster than bullets. But will they live long enough to realize they're falling in love?
CALEB: "The first time I laid eyes on Blake Sera, I just knew she would be trouble. When an old buddy hired me to help protect this glamor gal, I was sure she was just another pretty face whose only interests were sunning, funning, and shopping till she dropped. But it didn't take long for me to realize that there was more to her than big blue eyes and a killer smile."
BLAKE: "What can I say? LA is my playground. There isn't much I haven't seen, heard… or done, if you believe the rumors. But it wasn’t until one horrible night that I realized the man I’ve been living with is up to his neck in the murky underworld of crime. Now enemies seem to lurk around every corner. And what about Caleb, this green-eyed cowboy who showed up out of nowhere? Can I trust him enough to let down my guard, or will loving him get me killed?”
From the sun-soaked beaches of Malibu to the opulence of the Hollywood Hills, with danger and deceit at every turn, Blake and Caleb race to find answers while they try to out-maneuver the people who want them dead.
Can they survive their passion? Can they survive at all?
Her Secret Bodyguard is a thrilling and emotionally charged love story with PG language and a closed-door romance.
★★★★★ “A fast, fun read, that left me wondering—and actually CARING—about whether or not the hero and heroine would end up together in the end.”
★★★★★ “A wonderful, quick, fast paced book. I completely enjoyed it. There was just enough romance with the action to keep me turning the page and ignoring work (oops).”
You might not think that an addiction to television would inspire a career in writing, but that is exactly what happened with me. When I was about six years old, my mother “encouraged” me to turn off the TV and pick up a book by offering to pay me two cents for every page I read. It was an unusual strategy, but it worked: soon I was a bona fide book junkie (thanks Mom!). Of course, it wasn't long before I graduated from reading to writing. I write multiple genres of closed-door romance, including small town family sagas with a touch of mystery, romantic suspense, and even a dash of paranormal.

I have a hard time with "behind doors" romance. I just can't shake the feeling that I'm missing something in the story. The characters were good in that they remained true to themselves. I enjoyed the book, the suspense, the thriller/mystery angle. The editing isn't the cleanest, but it's better than I expected for a book with such a low rating. I did notice that the more current reviews were more in line with what my thoughts were.
For me this book feel short. I wasn’t sure if I was reading a romance or a thriller. The thriller part was very down played, ended quickly and was very anticlimactic.
This story has a lot of danger, suspence, twist and turns around every corner and keeps you turning the page to read what happens next until the very end, looking forward to reading more books from this author
I wish I could’ve liked this book more. Was a good romantic thriller with a feel good ending, but was pretty anticlimactic. First book by this author, not sure if I will try another
There are so many awful things about this book I don't even know where to begin...
The story is weak and makes NO sense. Character development is almost completely lacking. The writing style is chaotic. There are so many editing errors they interfered with the flow of reading (verb tense and wrong words completely). I read about half the book before I threw in the towel.
Blake is a former model living in Hollywood with her crime boss "boyfriend". Caleb is a former special ops guy who lives in Iowa. It's unclear what his current occupation is. Caleb's childhood friend, Steve, owns a top security company in LA. Steve calls Caleb and asks him to come to LA. There's no indication Caleb has ever done security/bodyguard work before, but Steve asks him to watch Blake. Some mysterious corporation hired Steve to "watch" Blake. While Steve has worked for this company before, he doesn't seem to know who hired him or why, all he cares about is that they pay their bills. That doesn't seem, to me, to be how a top security firm would operate, but what do I know? Anyway, Steve says that he can't ask any of his own men to watch Blake, so he called Caleb out of the blue. Now here's something else - Caleb has a bum knee from an old baseball injury, but yet he was in the Special Forces in the military. WHAT? I don't think so... Anyway, Caleb is just suppose to watch Blake from a distance because there is some unknown threat to her life. They don't seem to be worried about where the threat is coming from or anything about it other than she's in mortal danger. Anyway, Caleb is walking down the beach and he TRIPS in the sand and injures his knee. (AS IF!) And Blake is there to "rescue" him. She invites him into her home. Now wait right there for a minute... She has lived with a very dangerous for 8 years and just the night before, she woke up to discover him beating a man senseless in their living room while the man is tied to chair, yet she invites this complete stranger into her home??? Are you kidding me??? THEN she's all, "Oh, hey, handsome complete stranger. I have a party to go to in the Hollywood Hills tonight at the mansion of a record exec. You wanna take me? Here's the address of my other house because I can't get ready in THIS house." (NOT an actual quote from the story) It was TOTALLY unbelievable!
Anyway, I had so many issues with the plausibility of this story that I couldn't help but roll my eyes and huff out deep breaths of irritation at every turn of the page. It was just SO ridiculous. I could go on, but just writing this review is riling me up about the ridiculousness of this story.
The only bright light here is that I got this story as a part of the boxed series "Loving the Bodyguard" for $ .99 and the first three books were wonderful, so I feel like I got my money's worth from the boxed set. I wouldn't recommend wasting your money on this story unless you just don't mind reading something that makes absolutely NO sense and is all over the place...
Suspense and romance are sprinkled throughout Her Secret Bodyguard, a story that unfolds at a quick and steady pace from start to finish. A plot twist or two kept me interested in the final outcome of the main characters, former model Blake and ex Special Forces Caleb, and compelled me to read on. True to the genre, last-minute disclosures and events neatly wrapped up the story.
Author Misha Crews describes a scene so well that you feel as if you’re riding a motorcycle along winding roads or sipping wine at a Hollywood party alongside her characters. The writing is unpretentious and pleasant. If you’re looking for an enjoyable romantic suspense, this is it!
Easy to read, easy to forget. The plot was rather thin and overdone- she's an ex-model and current beard for some sort of shady kingpin of... something. you never really do find out. He's a Harley driving ex-special forces sniper who is called on to be her bodyguard as a favor. Of course it is love at first sight, even with all the secrets both sides are holding.
It wasn't a bad book, but there was nothing to make it stand out for me.
If you enjoy romance spiced with suspense, look no further. Former model Blake Sera and Special Forces veteran Caleb McKenna are characters worth rooting for in this beautifully written, fast-paced read. Author Misha Crews depiction of the glittering high life of Los Angeles is spot on, and she provides her hero and heroine with a supporting cast that surprises at every turn. I look forward to reading other books by this talented author.
Started off well but storyline was rushed and wrapped up too quickly. it also turned extremely sappy far too early on. Doesnt really count as a romantic suspense in my opinion. Then again it wasnt expensive and worth the 70p for a quick easy read.
Author kept the female strong .. finally.. Every story line in the world, the woman needs to be rescued by the man.. about time an author thinks for herself and lets the character unfold as it should be on her own.. YAY.. the book was fantasic.@LadyJadeDawn on twitter
