Lorijo Metz lives with her husband and little brown dog in the great state of Indiana. Though she has a degree in acting and directing, she much prefers the anonymity of the keyboard, allowing her characters to revel in the spotlight while she sits quietly sipping tea or coffee, nibbling on cookies, and dreaming up ways to complicate their lives.

WHEELS, Lorijo's middle-grade, Science Fiction, Adventure, which reviewers say is, "Brilliant," "Whacky, loads of fun," and "...one I know I'll reread," was awarded a stipend from ACX, Amazon's audible division. Look for it on Amazon.com, Audible.com and iTunes in time for the 2014 holiday season.

In 2013, Lorijo made her début as a lyricist. She wrote the lyrics for the title track on PUPPY DOG JIG, performed by children's singer and songwriter Owen Duggan on his newest CD.

This was part of the On the Farm series from 2017. On the whole, this On the Farm series wasn't very good. It's lumbered with the factual errors and a condescending tone towards any kid readers.

It states that foals are born "legs first." Actually, most of the time, it's FORELEGS first. That's only two legs trying to come out of the same hole, rather than four, as the author seems to suggest. There's also a time when a mule in a photo is identified as a donkey. Since there was a section on mules, it really would've made more sense to put the photo in with the mules. Colors listed were wrong, too, in that it was too short of a list. It stated that donkeys don't run away when scared. YES, THEY DO.

There was only one or two types of donkeys shown. There was a very brief chapter on what you need to care for a donkey, and a mention that they are long lived, which was one of the very few pluses in a book filled with minuses.

This is an excellent resource book for any young reader who is interested in the family of Mules. Filled with excellent pictures, the author does a great job of explaining the differences between the various Mule breeds. An excellent book for young readers who are interested in farm animals.
