This second story about Randy, a transman, and Max, an antiques dealer with issues about keeping ‘stuff’ around his apartment, is just as brilliant as the first. It gave me a further, deeper look into Randy’s head and helped me understand how he thinks, and what he has to deal with now that he is in a relationship with Max. It also showed more of Max and his issues. I loved the fact that these two characters were able to deal with their issues in a grown-up way (mostly). Both of them showed a tremendous ability to look beyond the surface of each other’s issues and see the real person hiding underneath. If more people had this ability, there would be fewer broken relationships, and a lot less fighting and war in the world.

Randy takes the next step towards his transformation. It may seem like a small thing, but legally changing his name to a male one is a significant step towards being recognized as the person he really is inside. Max is supportive as ever, but his own issue with keeping stuff, or ‘junk’ as Randy calls it, has an adverse effect on his relationship. Randy feels that the boxes are taking up physical space they could use now that they are pretty much sharing the apartment. Max doesn’t see it like that at all, and tries to explain his reasons for keeping everything.

If you liked the first story, you will love this one. It is unusual, touched on some deeper psychological issues both characters have, but above all is a very tender love story about acceptance and hope for the future.

I was so happy to have come across this sweet transgender romance. It was touching the way Max wasn't bothered in the least by Randy's pre-op female parts. A very good short Christmas story.

A short follow up story to Vintage Toys for Lucky Boys. Readers get to see how far both Randy and Max have progressed. For Randy, readers get to read about his struggles with the paperwork for getting his name changes and how his aunt will act when she sees him for the first time as Randy. In Max case, reader's are made aware that he's not as perfect as he seemed in the prequel and his attachment issues with the items he's collected for sale in his story which causes a little rift in his relationship with Randy.

A good read that gave a little more insight into the struggles of being transgendered.

Not the steamiest story you'll ever read or the most involved plot, but it's sweet in its way. Thusfar this series is the only transgender set I've read.
