In the snow is a big pile of delicious seed. Look! Who is coming to eat it? Can you spot them all?
When the pile of seed gets smaller and smaller and day turns to dusk and it gets colder and colder, who will bring new seed for the hungry animals? Look closely! Who is coming now in the snow?

Oversized hardcover book with incredible illustrations by Nancy Tafuri. This book will delight any preschooler with its beautiful illustrations. A story about the importance of feeding birds, who are the daytime feeders and who are the night time feeders (possum) and the importance of trees to birds and possums. Absolutely a wonderful book for children to have read to them and learn to read from. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Stars
This book is not exactly what I expected. I thought the story would have a little more depth to it when I first picked it out, but it was a pretty simple book. I only gave a rating of three stars to the book because I was a little disappointed, but the illustrations are beautiful. The illustrations are detailed, creative, and colorful. It would be a good book to read to children in the winter season.
A simple story of the animals who come for the seeds a child puts out in the snow. (Another that didn't arrive in time for my winter lap time.) 1/30/13
Worked fairly well for baby time. One of the few, simple books with large pictures. 1/27/115
Like Tafuri's pictures and simple enough for Lap Time.
Really beautiful pictures. My daughter loved looking at them and asking me what the animals were. We talked about snow, and about wintertime, and what sorts of animals like to eat seeds in the snow. It opened up doors to look into lots of different conversations.
Finally, a warm and sunny day to walk to the library. We loved looking at the birds in this book and laughed when we saw the squirrels eating the seeds.
Opening Lines Someone's coming in the snow for the seeds left high and low~millet, thistle, corn dropped so.
A variety of birds, bunnies, a squirrel and possum enjoy seeds left out by a young boy in snowy winter. Detailed illustrations and short text make it a nice book to read aloud to very young toddlers.
A twenty year old title that continues to have great viability. Perfect for the young preschool story groups as the birds and the forest animals are shown in large format uncluttered illustrations against the snow and winter landscape. Nancy Tafuri’s animal illustrations have always been very pleasing to me. Sharon Denslow’s lyrical rhyming text conveys the pleasure of bird and small animal feeding in cold winter climates.
This is a sweet and simple book, with bold and vibrant illustrations. A variety of small woodland animals visit a feeding station to eat seeds during a cold, snowy winter's day. This is a nice way to introduce very young kids to identifying local wildlife as well as a nice deed anyone can do to help birds in the depths of winter.
This is another really wonderful picture book about winter. Nancy Tafuri's simple, sweet illustrations make this a book to share every winter. Help your child learn to care for the animals in winter with this lovely book!
Which animals will come to munch at the seeds left behind? Simple text and realistic illustrations will inspire littles to leave some seeds in the snow and see what happens.
