Anna Enquist maakte begin jaren negentig een stormachtige entree in de literatuur, als dichter welteverstaan, want als romancier debuteerde zij pas halverwege de jaren negentig. Voor haar debuutbundel Soldatenliederen (1991) ontving zij meteen de C. Buddingh’-prijs, en haar tweede bundel Jachtscènes (1993) werd bekroond met de Lucy B. en C.W. van der Hoogtprijs. Daarna verscheen Een nieuw afscheid (1994) en Klaarlichte dag (1996). Deze vier bundels werden voorjaar 2000 wegens succes al eens gebundeld in De gedichten 1991 – 2000.
Daar bleef het niet bij. Enquist is allereerst dichter en voegde aan haar poëtisch oeuvre de bundels De tweede helft (2000) en De tussentijd (2004) toe. De genoemde zes bundels zijn, omdat de tijd er rijp voor is, gebundeld in deze gebonden editie van al haar gedichten tot dusver.

Anna Enquist is a pseudonym of the Dutch author and poet Christa Widlund-Broer.

Anna Enquist studied piano at the academy of music in The Hague and psychology at Leiden University. She is the author of the novels The Masterpiece; The Secret, winner of the 1997 Dutch Book of the Year awarded by the public; The Ice Carriers; Counterpoint; Quartet; and the international bestseller The Homecoming, which received the Prix du Livre Corderie Royale-Hermione for its French translation. Anna is also the author of A Leap, a collection of dramatic monologues, as well as numerous poetry collections, including Soldiers’ Songs, for which she was awarded the C. Buddingh’ Prize; A New Goodbye; and Hunting Scenes, winner of the Lucy B. and C.W. van der Hoogt Prize.
