Story of a little girl and her dad who have to cope with the breakdown of the family when the mother leaves. Only the little girl's doll, Lucille, helps her cope with this loss. But Lucille needs mending and only the mother was able to do this - until the girl and her dad meet Chrissie, who mends Lucille and eventually marries the dad. Another CBA picture book about loss and the importance of hope in our lives. The pictures are very evocative, especially the contrasts between the somber pictures of loss, and the colour used to represent hope.

This book is an amazing heartfelt book, which depicts the loss of a young girls mother, and how she struggles to find belonging again, absolutley amazing but i have to say it will make you cry some parts. I definitly suggest it as a must read

An evocative picture book which in a short space, and with great images manages to think about the subject of loss and grief, whilst being infused with hope.
A top notch illustrated book.
