After serving in the Air Force as a registered nurse, Lori Avocato decided to give up nursing to write fiction. She lives in New England and is a member of the Mystery Writers of America, PASIC, NINC, Romance Writers of America, the Author's Guild, and Sisters in Crime. She's raising two teenage sons (heaven help her!), and one darling dog, Spanky. Lori is the author of six novels featuring Pauline Sokol: A Dose of Murder; The Stiff and the Dead; One Dead Under the Cuckoo's Nest; Deep Sea Dead; Nip, Tuck, Dead; and Dead on Arrival.
This is a fun love story. I, personally don't go for love stories, but the fact that it is about a female fighter pilot flying "my" jet, the F-16, made me pick it up. The above mentioned female fighter pilot, Ali, needs to get married in order to access her trust fund left behind by her deceased grandmother. A quickie wedding to her fellow pilot and rival, Spencer, leads to much self disovering about herself and her wants.
Can Ali and Spencer tolerate each other for the one week they need to pull off this marriage sham? Are they in over their heads?
Great fighter pilot lingo and the author having been a former Air Force nurse, obviously knows the inner workings of the Air Force rules and regulations. It had a terrific military feel to it. Fans of romance and especially those with military backgrounds will enjoy it. I felt the writing and the characters were just a tad "juvenile" so it doesn't hit the five star mark.
This is a very good book. It makes you laugh and cry. Fighter pilots what can one say, they are cocky and you can't help but like them. This book will take you on a journey of two pilots who have known each other and completed training together. They end up in some very funny situations. It is a good read.
