This short but great story is the first of I hope many more by Marianne. Fast paced, exciting, sexy...I couldn't put it down.
The only bad part is the ending...it leaves you hanging, but the sequel, a full novel is due out in the spring. I will have a hard time waiting!
I recommend for all PNR lovers.
I read this again to get prepared for the sequel....GREAT STORY!

I can't say enough good things about this debut book from author Marianne Morea. This book had me in its clutches from the very first word. I really enjoyed the way the story created tension from one chapter to the next. You could see the dilemma for Lily building from the very beginning. I love the character Terry in this book. She has a great sense of humor and she couldn't be a better friend to Lily when she needs it most. The paranormal aspects of this book are tantalizing. They are not your typical characters and I think the reader will be spell bound by the story. The ending will leaving you panting for the next book in this series. Kudos, Marianne. A fine job by a great writer.

Lily Saburi and her best friend, Terry Hess, were partners in a psychic investigation agency. But when Terry is murdered working a routine haunting, Lily’s pain and need for vengeance lead her into a dangerous encounter with a vicious were. Bitten by the animal she has been hunting, Lily is rescued by the charismatic Sean Leighton, leader and now forced hunter of rogue members of his community infected with a deadly virus. Despite her wish to despise the supernatural creatures responsible for her friend’s death, Lily is unable to deny her attraction to Sean, while he, concerned with why she might be hunting his kind, is equally intrigued by the mystery he has discovered surrounding the beautiful psychic. But could Lily also now be infected with the pathogen turning Sean’s pack rabid and, if so, can a cure be found before he must kill the woman he’s falling in love with?

While I read a lot of books in the straight paranormal and horror genres, I’ve never been a big reader of paranormal romance. Likewise, though I’ve read a few, I generally read many more full-length novels than novellas. A reader whose favorite aspect of a story tends to be really in-depth character development, I figure that’s a much more difficult challenge in a shorter work. Author Marianne Morea does a fantastic job however, in just 136 pages, of making the reader really care about Lily and Sean and the frightening obstacle their relationship faces. The undue burden of guilt that fuels Lily’s obsession with revenge and her battle between her attraction to Sean and the repulsion she can’t help but feel for a species she’s seen tear to shreds her lifelong friend make her a complex and sympathetic character, while Sean’s own struggle with his feelings for Lily and his deep sense of responsibility for his pack make him equally human and compelling. Although I would have loved to see the attraction between the two grow into a deeper love a little more slowly in a longer novel, the author’s ability to bring across the dire circumstances which would cause a more rapid bonding makes the couple’s relationship more believable and the fast-paced action and fascinating scientific search for a cure made it a page-turner for me. An exciting story I’d recommend to every PNR fan who loves a steamy supernatural tale with a captivating hero and heroine, and one with an ending that promises more adventures to come.

Everything about this story is just too easy. The characters are completely predictable and the ending isn't even a freakin' ending! The pace is a bit quick which only adds to the lack of ability to bond with the characters. Not that there's much to bond to. Very little effort is spared on descriptions and even less on explanations. I was very disappointed in this story, as a prequel and a book.

I have had the pleasure of being given an ‘advanced’ copy of a new Series by a new upcoming author, Marianne Morea. I must tell you this book was such a pleasant surprise

Lily Saburi has one goal in mind…revenge. After her best friend and partner Terry Hess was brutally murdered by a rogue animal, Lily wants nothing more than to destroy the killer. Lily Saburi is a well known psychic investigator and has worked to help solve cases for the NYC Police Department. Haunted by her best friend, Lily is not going to stop until the attacker is found. This leads her into more danger than she realized. After she tracks the animal , she is savagely attacked and bitten by it. Now she carries a deadly virus that may kill her. Sean Leighton, the head of The Hunter’s Council has been assigned to hunt and destroy anything that threatens his pack…including anyone who carrying a deadly virus. Now that he’s met Lily, Sean must make a choice between the woman he has grown to love and the pack he’s pledged to protect.

Ms Morea, has separated herself from the crowd, and has executed an enchanting story of the paranormal with ghosts, werewolves, and vampires The story line is fast paced, realistic, fraught with danger, sexual tension, and scientific realism for the Psy-fi buffs.. This well written Novella sets us up for the next book in the her New Series called xxxxxxxxxxxx, ,which should not disappoint.

Lily Saburi & Sean Leighton are two people from different worlds whose lives come crashing together because of a deadly virus affecting the supernatural community. Lily is a vigilante hunter out for revenge from the monster that killed her best friend, Terry. While in the grips of her revenge the infected Were gets the upper hand on Lily and as death seems eminent Sean Leighton swoops in to save the day, or so Lily thought....not only did he save her but he too was on a mission to find that same Were. Lily and Sean both make it out of the fight alive, only to have their worlds collide. Sean, the Alpha male, now has decisions to make as Lily may be infected with this deadly virus. Not only does he need to find who she is and why she's there, but is she too now infected and will he have to decide her fate! During this trying time Sean is pulled to Lily, just as she is pulled to him...but now is not the time for romance as the Pack gears up for dealing with this virus and what it's doing to their community. With no cure in sight Lily and Sean have a stubborn battle as Lily wants answers, which are few and far between until she takes matters into her own hands. As Lily learns more about Sean's world she learns about what he is considering with her fate and Lily is NOT having it...this is book 1 in a series. If you have not read Marianne Morea be sure to add her to your list as this author truly cares/develops her characters and puts the necessary research into the areas she brings to life in her books. I have spent the past few days re-reading the series and I am just as in love as before!

I'm officially a new member of Marianne Morea's fan club....I truly loved Hunter's Blood!

The book begins with the main female character psychic Lily Saburi struggling over the tragic loss of her best friend Terry, who was killed by a rabid Were. Though the ghost of her bestie is with her constantly, Lily now seeks revenge for her murder. Lily is able to track the Were and encounters uber Alpha Were Sean Leighton. The incredible chemistry between these characters is hot and you can just feel the sparks fly when they first meet in each others minds. What follows is nothing short of amazing!!

I'm a big lover of the paranormal, so this book was right up my alley. I loved the fast paced action at every turn of this book. We get a nice look at the inner workings of the Were world. The character development was done well and it had all my favorite things....hot Alpha hunks, suspense, fast paced action both outside and under the covers with hot steamy loves scenes and my HEA. The door was left wide open for the next addition to this wonderful series and I look forward to reading the next in line to see what kind of trouble Lily can get herself into and out of....Twice Cursed here I come~~~

When Lily goes hunting for the werewolf who killed her best friend, she finds the werewolf, he attacks her and almost kills her before she is able to shoot him in the head and kill him. When she wakes up, she thinks she is in a hospital, but she is actually in Leighton Manor. This is a compound in Maine where a mixed group of shifters are living, with Sean being the Alpha of all the different shifters. Sean tried to fight the rabid werewolf who attacked Lily, and ends up taking her in to save her life.

I liked the idea of multiple types of shifters living together under a single alpha who can take the shape of any of the shifters under him. There are a lot of emotions about having a human in their midst, especially one who seemed to be hunting supernaturals. And a lot of political maneuvering within the organization. Between the growing attraction between Lily and Sean, and the tensions building within the shifter community, it was hard to put the book down until the end. While there wasn't a cliffhanger, it is part of continuing series.

I have mix feelings about this story. First off I do like the cover, and the strong characters. There was great potential for this to be a great story but the characters didn't have a chance to develop. Their relationship was to fast.
I Really really did not like the ending it was to abrupt. The pace is a bit quick all the obstacles over come to quickly. Very little effort is spared on descriptions and even less on explanations. I don't know if I will try the next one. At least this was a free read.

I don't know why Goodreads asks authors to rate their own work, but I hesitate to do so, choosing instead to have my readers decide...although I am proud of the story! Hunter's Blood Special Edition is story that launched the Cursed by Blood Saga by Marianne Morea. Originally published in 2010, this new special edition offers readers previously unpublished chapters and introduces strong female characters that set the stage for future books in the series.

For my readers who already have the original Novella, yet would like the new edition, please email me and I will gift you an ebook copy! My addy is marianne@mariannemorea.com

I’m a sucker for a good shifter story and this cover caught my eye. I was pleased to find a wonderful story inside that cover. This is the story of Lily and Sean. It does end with the story partially told as there is a book two. It is a short read but well worth your reading time.

Lily’s best friend has been murdered and Lily believes in her heart it is her job to find answers as she is a psychic haunted with the act. Lily is a determined, strong and caring character. On her journey she meets Sean, a shifter and hunter. The two have instant chemistry and both of their worlds become complicated. Without giving more away, let me say that this story had me hooked and I really enjoyed the characters the plot and the push and pull. I will be reading book two. 3.5 stars.

Lily Saburi worked with her best friend Terri as psychic investigators. They helped the police solve the unsolvable. On one unlucky investigation, Terri was murdered by a rabid were. From that point on, Lily’s focus became revenge. She trained, she hunted and she was determined to put the animal that murdered her only friend down.
Sean Leighton has another problem. He’s the alpha of a community of supernaturals, one where many werewolf packs are trying to form a solid, supportive democracy. Their community is working together for the benefit of all the packs involved. Leadership is a hard mantle for this Alpha.
These two are thrown together, as the werewolf that killed Terri is the brother of Sean. This tale is woven together in a fast paced opening tale to the Blood Saga Series. You wonder if love will triumph, since the lead character is literally gunning for the Alpha’s brother. You wonder if the Alpha’s instant awareness of the special relationship that is about to blossom is doomed from the beginning, since his brother injured her.
Sean is definitely between a rock and a hard place and the reader is left holding a book that leaves you wanting more! This is a series that I’ll definitely be reading more of.

Werewolves, kick ass heroines and turmoil..couldnt ask for more...

Marianne had me hooked from the start, I wanted to find out more about the history between Lily and her best friend Terry, of which I will say no more.

Lily comes across as being very antagonistic and carries the weight of the world on her shoulders, so much so that she doesn't look after herself and gets herself in a situation out of her control.....step forward Mr Sean Leighton, Alpha Brethren of the werewolf pack...so our heroine who is quite alpha herself, now has to deal with the most alpha of males..

This book is well worth a read.. all the characters are likeable. This book is the first in a series ( I read the second one first) and even if you find a little short its worth moving on to no.2 which is altogether longer.

My 4 stars recommend the quality of the book, with one star off only because I felt it could have been longer (but thats just me!)

Absolutely love this book. I just purchased the next one in the series and can't wait to read it. I rarely buy books. I read mostly whatever our local library has on the shelves but every once in awhile I come across an author that I don't mind spending the money. Marianne Morea is one of those authors. This book has love, loss, weres, passionate love scenes, interference from a member of the pack and you just know he is up to something nasty. Lily is the kick butt heroine who is out for revenge after her best friend is killed, who then falls for Sean who is a take charge guy with secrets of his own. I loved all the characters and the whole story. I laughed in some parts and almost cried in others. This is definitely a must read!!

Great read with a cliff hanger. This book was a quick read but full of suspense, adventure and hot shifters. Lillie is a paranormal investigator she and her partner were on a job when her partner Terry was killed. Lilly is on the warpath looking for the person who killed her best friend. She ends up back in New York where she becomes involved in another investigation. I am looking forward to reading the next in the series.

Really liked this one. I'm going to see about getting more in the series. My only beef is that it was too short. I would have liked it to go on a bit. Even so, this one kept me reading into the wee hours as I could not put it down. I found the characters interesting and well done, and the story line was very intriguing. Looking forward to reading the next one as soon as I can get it.

For a debut book, Marianne Morea hit many of my favorite notes in Hunter's Blood. The story may have been short but it was fast-paced, action-packed and jammed full of awesomeness.
Great character's an intriguing storyline and great plot twists I was left wanting more and can't wait for her next book.

This novella had all the potential to be a good book. Unfortunately it is a weak story with all the pitfalls of the novella format. (No characterization, falling in bed and in love without a reason, weak plot.) And it gets worse: no ending :) (Or if you prefer open ending or cliffhanger).
