Welcome to the dangerous and enticing world of the Belladonnas—where the women may be beautiful, but they’re more deadly than anyone could ever imagine. Assassins. Women for hire.
Is there really a difference?
These women dress for success…and that success is usually found while standing over the bodies of their targets.
Eleven USA Today and International bestselling authors bring you a dark and decadent world full of spies, con men, assassins, and deadly secrets.
I seriously eat up any book that has a female killer because, frankly, it’s damn hot 🥵. Selena exceeded all my expectations. She was lethal but wasn’t cocky or over confident. It felt like reading about a girl next door killer which is terrifying honestly lol. And she took to her kidnapping like a champ 😆. She wasn’t gonna let that stop her from getting things done 💅.
“Did you really try to kidnap me?” “For old time’s sake, little bird,” Dominic said defensively. “You cannot kidnap someone in a nostalgic way!” I told him. “There’s nothing romantic about kidnapping!” “It can be a little bit romantic.”
Her men- ooooh boy, I liked her men. Dom and Xander in particular. The bad boy and artist. Aidan, while the “leader” of the trio and the son of the target Selena was sent to ☠️, was kinda my least favorite. That’s how it always works out in RHs I feel. The main guy of the harem isn’t usually my fav. He kept trying to change her into someone she wasn’t. Not change her into a 9 to 5 office bee in pressed slacks, mind you. He’s A-okay with the stabby stab she’s got going on, but he was weirdly obsessed with her submitting and being submissive to him. I wasn’t chill with that. I should say it wasn’t super misogynistic or overwhelming in how it came across since it was in a BDSM way, it was just frustrating. The Queen can’t be tamed. 😌
Anywho, I’m obsessed with this concept and desperately need to devour this series. They’re all standalones by different authors I think? So yay!
I loved the premise of this book. The writing was great, the characters were pretty flushed out and pretty different which made the harem fun. I also like that there is a real plot not just sexy times. So why the 3 stars wells there were some inconsistencies that were pretty huge. The most glaring one is Dom not telling Aiden what he did until we are wrapping up the book and then there was no real conversation. Your #2 basically puts you in a position to go to jail or worse and this is someone who all book you’ve said is your brother etc and it’s just glossed over. Then there would be instances in the book where things were happening off page but no context which was relevant. Another example A getting Clarissa to leave her home so they could kill her and make her the assassin. WHAT?! We just met her 2 pages ago she was described as a big wig in the competing family’s business and she goes missing the same day your dad says he needs a body never to be heard from again. I am confused. Also what exactly did Lolly do. I get it was alluded to that she was a plant by his father but what revealed that, why is A so bitter, why if they had such drama is she at his resort at all……what was the point. Without elaborating on I guess what was an important aspect of Aiden’s past it just seems like their run in with her was odd/anticlimatic. I can go on. As I write this review I really think this should have been 2 books and not the one.
This was an ok read but nothing more. I didn't read the first book of this serie but as they're all standalone it isn't a problem. I liked the idea of femal assassin, trained by a mysterious guy, kind of "Charlie's Angels" vibe but more ruthless😅 But there were some inconsistencies in the plot and especially at the end. It wasn't realistic at all for an international well-trained assassin and expert in seduction to have sex with the guys without condom and any contraception!!!🙄 And guess what happened? Oh! A baby! And then, the same lecture as always about "I didn't want to be pregnant, I can't have a baby because I'm an assassin and you guys are criminals"...blablabla... And what did they decide at the end? Oh! Let's murder bad guys together as a family! 🙈🤦🏻♀️ Overall I didn't really like Aiden's plan, forcing Selena in a fake relationship, and her to be so quickly agreeing and hormon driving. I expected very much from a professional assassin🤷🏻♀️

So honestly what is not to love with this read. You have mafia, assassins, great characters, suspense, lots of angst, and a good motivator in revenge. The cherry on top being the Reverse Harem.
Love that the Belladonnas is female assassins and I was so here for it. This one centers on of course Selena. There is a lot of twists and turns, and just when you think you know what is going to happen, I got thrown a curve ball.
So much happens you are going to want to do a re-read just in case you missed something. A great read for anyone looking for a unique storyline.
Selena is standalone within a multi-author shared world, Dressed to Kill series. This is THIS WAS SOOOOO GOOD!! Selena is apart of a deadly assassin organization called the Belladonnas. This has slow, but juicy burn, intrigue, revenge, spice, twists and turns, fake relationships, RH. This is actually the first book in this series that I've read, but now REALLY want to read the rest of this series and more of the Belladonnas.
May Dawson does it again! This was a different type of story than I've typically read from May, but the story line was solid and the characters were well developed. You'll want to clear your calendar of things you want to get done. . . Because this book is just that good!
This was a super fun read! This is the second book in the “Dressed to Kill” 10-book series, but each book is a standalone. I hadn’t read the first book before this one (although I added it to my reading queue after I finished Selena!) and didn’t have any trouble at all getting sucked into Selena’s story and the world of the Belladonnas (a group of badass female assassins) and Man (who I pictured as the “Charlie” to their “Angels”).
Selena’s mission is to assassinate a mob kingpin – Gavin Crude. Unfortunately, the attempt goes awry, leading to her capture by Gavin’s son Aiden and his two friends. Surprisingly, Gavin doesn’t want to kill her for trying to kill his father – he wants to marry her! He’s hoping to take over the family business without bloodshed, but needs Selena to do so. If she can help Gavin pull this off, he won’t stand in the way of her completing her mission. Selena isn’t sure of her ability to fulfill the task ahead of her, but she’s willing to give it a shot (bad pun unintended).
The romance is a quick burn – especially with a couple of the men, which I didn’t mind at all, as their intrigue with and attraction to Selena makes sense, given who she is and who they are.
As if her assignments to kill Gavin and pull off a convincing fake fiancée act with Aiden aren’t enough, Selena is also on a very personal mission that I won’t spoil here.
Learning about Selena and her world was very interesting & fun. I also liked all three of the guys. They each bring something different to their relationship with Selena and help her grow, and she does the same for them in return. There’s a lot of spice, and as would be expected in stories involving assassins and the mob, violence. There are also some other potential triggers, so check those out before going in.
I loved the story and can’t wait to discover more about the rest of the Belladonnas (& Man) and their world as the series develops!
Selena, by May Dawson, is part of the shared world of the Dressed to Kill series, but can easily be read as a standalone—and if steamy, hot why choose romances featuring a BA heroine and several sexy men are your thing then I HIGHLY recommend this one for sure! Because what happens when a fierce assistance gets kidnapped by three sexy alpha males? Pure perfection!
Our strong, fierce and independent fmc Selena is a BA trained assassiN/hacker who lives in what’s essentially a home/base for other female assassins, known as the Belladonnas that are oftentimes sent out into the world on missions. Which is where this story quickly leads us—with Selena embarking on a mission to take out one of the heads of a mob family. Should be an say job…except it’s not and she soon finds herself captured, detained and at the mercy of her target’s son Aiden..and his two just as sexy and dangerous friends, Dominic and Xander. And when a bargain is made that tests them all, just wait and see how hot and steamy things get! Full of twist, turns, intrigue and suspense and tons of non stop action this story will lead you on quite the ride!
This was an utterly fantastic read and I loved how each of the men fit perfectly with Selena and how the chemistry was utterly off the charts! Needless to say, I can’t wait to dive in to the rest of the stories in this shared world! Especially if they’re as intriguing as this one was! Dawson is a master at creating plots that suck you in and characters that you connect with easily and this one was jo exception. Just as always, be sure to check your triggers first!
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this book wasn't all that good. It was definietly a step down from Harlow, which unfortunately for this book, means it will be directly compared to Harlow. My advice is skip this one.
There is nothing wrong with this book, but there is also nothing particularly good about it. There was very little emotional build out. It was paint-by-numbers RH with instalove. None of the characters were well developed. I think the biggest disappointment is that this book was boring. I know, female assassin hacker gets kidnapped by mafia good guys? That plot has excitement written all over it and yet it was dull. It felt long even though it was a pretty short book.
If you have read your fair share of RHs the spice was... not great. Look, everybody has got their things but it didn't seem like this author was well researched in what they were writing. I don't mind if scenes are not realistic because most people are just enjoying these for fun sake, but at least if you are going to write about certain types of things, either learn about what you are writing about or fake it better. There were also even a few times I got confused during the scenes because the writing wasn't clear and it was confusing to figure out who was where etc. The last thing you want to be doing when reading a love scene is going, hey wait a minute.
I'll continue reading the series because the authors change with each book and I think the whole assassin theme is fun.
I loved reading Selena.. it is a fast paced story that keeps you on your toes. The Characters are amazing.. Selena is fierce but alone in some ways she was raised as an orphan after her parents were killed. Selena was found and raised to be as assassin by the leader of a group called the Belladonnas. he is known as "The Man" Gavin Crude.. number 1 on Selena's Hit list - he is a Kingpin Mob Lord.. Aiden.. Hot and sexy and makes all the girls drool is Gavin's son so he is the heir to Gavin's holdings in the Mob World. Aiden falls in love with Selena at first sight Dominic.. Looks hot in a suit according to Selena is one of Aiden's heavy muscle and falls in love with Selena the moment he meets her. Xander the Artist and bomb specialist sees Selena as something more and he too falls in love with Selina. This story is unique because it holds you to the pages, pulls you in and then spits you out when you are at the end. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Selena is a part of the Dressed to Kill shared world but can be read as a standalone. No books need to be read before or after Selena to understand the story. Selena contains strong language, sexual situations, and violence. It’s also a why choose romance, meaning our leading lady doesn’t have to choose between her love interests at the end.
*RH *Contemporary *Multi-POV *Female Assassin *Crime Family *Fake relationship *best friends *Revenge plotline *established harem (3) *slow burn 🔥 *standalone Solid standalone 😌 After a failed attempt at killing her mark, Selena never expected to then end up having to negotiate her freedom to complete her mission but also keep the rest of the Belladonnas safe!! 😖 Mobster son Aidan surprises Selena even further by proposing a fake relationship that could benefit them both 🙈 Aidan is certainly a character who makes you work to feel those positive emotions towards him…but when his walls come down he definitely devotes! Dominic is the slightly murdery character whose crazy streak catches and calls to our FMC and then there’s Xander the emotive artist who sees far more deeply than Selena want him too! 🥰 these men each bring a different vibe to Selena life and each take a different amount of time realising what they want 😍 But Selena has her own mission to complete outside of the Belladonnas and this deal might just offer her the answers she needs 😬 With the twists and turns stacking up against them, will they get their HEA?! I found the pacing a little off at times with things seeming to happen out of the blue or rather suddenly but other than that a solid standalone read 😊
She started out as a slobby hacker who seemed very introverted. Then all of a sudden she’s a sophisticated assassin. I get that she has a role to play that she was trained for but it just didn’t sit right. She’s super aloof and focused on finding her parents’ killer and then somehow she get conned into helping the three male love interests and it goes from straight business to automatic lust and then quick into love. The was no real build up of characters there was no depth. It was just. Lame? I don’t think the cover meshed with the character either. The cover model is waif-ish and thin honestly I’d peg her at just turning 18. The woman described was curvaceous and worldly. They don’t seem alike. Idk the book just ok. Nothing special, there’s a lot of potential but it felt rushed through. There’s no real backstory to how fmc got into the position/career path she’s in. Anything that could come up as a climax fell flat. The assassination, the pregnancy, the fact he took the serum and said his feelings and ect. Anything that could be any big reveal just fell flat. There was so much emphasis on bdsm it felt like it was trying to hard to be 50 shades and even then it was so flat. The book was disappointing
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "SELENA" This story is about beautiful deadly assassins called Belladonnas women for hire, instead of mercenaries which are usually men its full of intrigue, action, kidnapping, angst, revenge, steamy scenes, fake marriages, twists that has you turning the pages. Selena is one of the Belladonnas who's been trained as an assassin who been given a target to take our its Mafia Kingpin Gavin Crude, while she's at Gala Chairity party ready to assassinate her target her cover is blown Zander & Dominic kidnap her but Aiden the son of Gavin offers her a way out a fake marriage that will benefit them both he wants to take over the family then she can fun she what she started & gain her freedom & protect the other Belladonnas. I definitely recommend to get this excellent story Selena, Zander, Dominic & Aiden take you on a wild hot steamy ride, she wants to find out killed her parents, she always felt alone with living with the other Belladdonas, will she find that love & HEA with her guys it's a must you absolutely don't want miss getting. Phenominal Mafia Romance🖤🖤🖤
“Should’ve made better choices. The dildo of consequences rarely comes lubed up.”
Selena is an assassin and lives in a home filled with other female assassins, collectively called the Belladonnas. Selena’s latest mission finds her at a party where she is tasked with taking out one of the heads of the mob families. Instead, her cover is blown, and she ends up at the mercy of the son of her target.
This story was intriguing. I love that Selena is an independent, confident woman who is not only an assassin but a hacker. She wields both personas confidently and without remorse. However, she has never felt love and total acceptance, always feeling apart from her house sisters. This changes after she is kidnapped and learns to love and be loved by the three men who captured not only her body, but her heart.
This includes a host of tropes including: why choose, kidnapping, sx club, mafia, forced proximity, fake relationship, assassin, revenge. As always: CHECK TRIGGER WARNINGS!!
Selena - [ ] Love her! I need more of the belladonnas! And Man. I wan to know so much more about Man. I love there is no wavering in their affections for Selena. Well maybe a small dip but it is just a blip. I loved how everything tied together with her past. Things just come full circle. I may have missed it but I still wonder where the belladonnas orders come from. Beyond Man that is. I would love to see a little further into their future and how things have changed. Dominic I loved from the beginning he was clear on making her his. Xander and his quirks were sweet and I loved how much Selena instantly wanted to protect him. Aiden and his dominance was fire. My only thing was I wish he would have made her call him sir during sessions since he referenced it in the beginning. Loved Selena she was fierce and strong and used to surviving on her own but I also loved that didn’t stop her from opening up to the guys. Great read.
M.D have written such Amazing books i loved her book selena . I loved following selena in her journey and i loved to read her growth as a character…. I just really love the Way this author writes… i love this book she have written it was soo good and it kept me on my toes… the Way she writes is soo intresting.. I’m sure I’m going to love future books by her… i loved selena’s story and i love watching her relationship grow stronger and stronger…. i really loved the twist and turn…This really Kept my interest the whole Way and i really loves this book…this book was freaking good.. I’m exicted to see What the authors comes up with.. I’m soo exicted to read the second part of this
I highly recommed that people read her book selena and if you haven’t read this book yet Then What are you waiting for you are really missing out on something … her book selena is really good and you wil def not regret giving this book a chance
Great read! I immediately loved Selena! While she's beautiful, seductive and elegant- she's so super intelligent! She's a hacker/assassin. She's cunning and sly! Her mind is constantly going. I really enjoyed her POV and I loved her character development. She meets her guys, ok actually she gets kidnapped and pulled into their scheme, and while she's attracted to them she's determined to succeed in her mission. Selena is an extreme introvert, she's more comfortable working on her computer than socializing. She doesn't really do relationships of any kind and is more of a loner. She steps out of her comfort zone and discovers that's she's so much more than what's she's allowed herself to be. Aiden, Dominic and Xander are instantly drawn to her, although Aiden fights it. They are perfect for one another! Plot was twisty, spice was scorching and I really loved Selena as a feisty, smart FMC!
I really enjoyed this book. We have a feisty female assassin, rich mobsters gorgeous son, thrown in a couple best friends, one the shy nerdy emotional type the other that strong confident muscle and you have a great story. This follows Selena who has been orphaned and now works as an assassin while seeking out her parents killer. During her recent job things don’t go to plan and she falls into the hands of Aiden and his friends Dominic and Xander. She ends up agreeing to help them in exchange for helping find her parents killer as her search has become cold. Along the way she slowly realizes she has developed feelings even though that wasn’t her plan. The book is a bit rushed but that often happens in these standalones. It was still a great story and there was plenty of character building and I love being able to read the different points of view.
What’s an assassin to do when she’s got orders to take out a target but she’s on the verge of a breakthrough with a personal mission? If you’re a Belladonna, you get on a plane and take out the target.
Selena heads out on Man’s orders to hit a mob kingpin. The hacker extraordinaire sees things as running smoothly, until they aren’t.
Aiden is ready to take the reigns from his father, but wants a peaceful transition. Spotting Selena in the crowd at a party means things are gonna get dicey, but it could work.
This shared universe stand alone is filled with passion and heat, with a little bit of criminal underground crazy thrown in. You’ll enjoy the interactions between Selena, Aiden, Dominic, and Xander as they all learn what love could be like if they can trust one another and let go.
This was a good quick read. I enjoyed to premise of the story, I'm discovering that I really like the mafia trope. I think Selena was a good character. As were the guys.
If my knowledge serves me right, this is a stand alone in a multi author world. With a lot more to come. I liked the storyline in this one. The guys were also great! I laughed a lot, especially at the end. That probably makes me slightly depraved, but I found myself chuckling either way.
I have a feeling that all of these books are going to center around the Belladonnas. I can't help but wonder where they got their start. How did Man find these girls? I'm very curious to see what comes next.
When her assassination attempt goes awry, Selena is forced to negotiate with the target’s son for her freedom. With a fake relationship, a persona vendetta, and three men to navigate through, can Selena complete her mission without being distracted?
I love that this story revolves around female assassins (the Belladonnas). Usually it’s male assassins and I found that refreshing because ladies can kick a$$ too.
This story is full of intrigue, desire, revenge, secrets, twists, and action. I found myself unable to stop turning pages, I needed more. I loved Selena and her guys and they’re sure to take you on one wild ride.
I loved this contemporary mafia RH! Selena is an amazing assassin, very skilled when it comes to technology, ways to kill people and acting the part. What is she not so good at? Peopling in general. When 3 mafia gangsters kidnap instead of letting her complete her latest job, things get very peoply. I loved all three men, complex, unique and very different from each other, the way that they complement each other in this harem is great. The chemistry is hot and off the charts, but it's not a jump straight into bed type of story, not all those who are kidnapped, forgive their kidnappers! With a twisted murder mystery outside of the relationship story, the action is intense and exciting.
I'm new to this series, so I wasn't entirely sure what to expect going in. I should have know May would deliver. Selena was delightfully sassy, with a good head on her shoulders. It was fun watching her puzzle through how to get out of the situations she kept stumbling into. Xander was great, I especially liked how he reacted to the circumstance of their first face to face meeting.
It was nice to see a character who didn't just tell us she was strong or smart, but who SHOWED us too, while not being so infallible that she never gets outsmarted. The "bad guy" being somewhat redeemable so you didn't just flat out hate him the entire time was a clever change of pace too.
This is the first of the Belladonas Series that I have read, and I have to say I actually like it quite a bit. Although while there are a few topics that made me kinda go eh. I did love the story of Selena who was known as one of the best of the Bella's but didn't know her own weaknesses. Her live is ultimately entwined with the son and adopted sons of the man she was sent to kill but things aren't always what they appear. The son of a mafia boss, the enforcer, and the bombmaker, combined with a professional killer sound like a bad joke, but this is a HEA that is one heck of a story! I can't wait to start Harlow and the next book in this series.
Selena, an assassin, has snuck into a party to fulfill a contract, but finds that she has to be rescued from one of the guests by Aiden, Dominic, and Xander, high ranking members of the Crude criminal empire. As the story progresses one mission turns into another, she starts to feel smothered, and they may find that they need to rely even more on each other. Selena is a dark and twisty reverse harem romance read. I would love to read about the other Belladonnas getting a happy ending.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
Selena is a standalone book in a multi-author shared world and is the only one I've read. Selena is an assassin, in what seems to be an all-female group called the Belladonnas. Her next target needs to be taken out, and then she will have a chance to find out what happened to her parents finally. But nothing goes quite to plan for her when her mission is foiled by the son of her target and he has other plans for her.
This is a hot, and steamy Why Choose romance, lots of twists and turns and a fake relationship. All the characters are really fleshed out and you get to know them all really well throughout the story. A really enjoyable read that's for sure.
