This is my book of choice for the Intro to Game Development course I've been teaching, as it covers all aspects of game development, including industry roles and responsibilities, and communicates key concepts and terminology in a very approachable manner, even for students just getting started!

A lot of general information, but if you have been a gamer for any period of time you will already now most of it. I would like to see a more advanced book on the subject.

Used this textbook (3rd edition) for a game development class that I just completed. Very useful overview of all the steps necessary to design, develop, test, produce, market, and maintain video games in the real business world. Highly recommended.
