Curse of the Spawn #5-8

CURSE OF THE SPAWN 日本語版 2

Rate this book
"Blood and Sutures". Relive the Suture saga as Sam & Twitch find themselves involved in a double dose of depraved acts. It is a predatory hunt with a role reversal, as serial killers find themselves being hunted and killed in a most grotesque manner--and not by another serial killer, but a victim and former prey of psychotic cops. This trade paperback of urban horror collects the entire Suture story line of issues #5 through #8 in all their horrific glory. A disturbing story that leaves your skin with that crusty, blood-caked feeling that you just can't wash off.

After the apocalyptic tale about the Spawn of the future in the first volume, Alan McElroy writes a thriller-horror starring private detectives Sam and Twitch from the pages of main series.

Result is a violent and disturbing cocktail of James Ellroy, Joe Lansdale and lots of James O'Barr's The Crow, sadly the initial idea is far better than final result, storyline is weighted down but heavy dialogues, and Dwayne Turner's artworks seem uninspired and messy if compared to the ones in Curse of the Spawn Volume 1: Sacrifice of the Soul.

Not as bad as I used to remember, but the level of violence on women as a story-plot really went off-scale here.

The writing isn't always the best dialogue can get repetitive which ends up making it a bit dialogue heavy but the story is a great idea just not the greatest execution & the art while decent isn't the best at choreography & action scenes are not very dynamic they come of very vanilla. Story starts of with a woman accidentaly getting run over by cop's . the cop's take her to an ambulance & as she is fighting for her life one of the cop's decides to take advantage of her because she is just to irresistible & she wakes up as this is happening , the cop try's to shut her up & ends up killing her. two detectives Sam & Twitch are investigating this missing person's report kus there have been a string of murders & fear she might have been the latest victim. Now things get weird wen only seriel killers & scum bags start popping up dead . I really liked what they were goin for hear & was happy with the ending if you like Supernatural or the Crow you will enjoy I give it 8.0/10

Why does McElroy want to explain things so endlessly in this comic also? So many caption boxes.
But Sam & Twitch were my favorite characters in Spawn and sadly they were pretty much faded away, so it was nice to read this, where they were in lead.
Cool story with full of blood and horrific tales. But the art was really messy and dark again.
